Bypass Paywall Clean

I can't be the only one using this.

Recently install/ updating has become impossible on a mobile, but still works just fine on desktop/ chrome

For those who has never heard of this, it normally works perfectly to enable one to "test" news sites behind paywalls

EDIT:
Must be something with the compression of the ZIP file.
Just tried and unpack the ZIP file, then re zipped it without compression then loaded it on phone, and behold it installs as it used to do.

EDIT 2:
Yep, just did the same on the other phone, all good now.
So the original zipping of file screws it up. Why it worked fine on desktop since it's installed unzipped there :)

I am in a similar boat. Recently began using Kiwi browser on mobile which seems to have less trouble running the BPC extension

  • OK, so not just me.

It's only very recently it has happened, been using Kiwi for quite a while, 1-2 years.

Hopefully it will get sorted soon.

    • This is the new one. The author moved to Github after being blocked on the previous hoster.

  • Done that days ago, still will not load

  • Still works for me, Firefox android.

  • Works fine for me with Firefox on Android.

    One of my favourite extensions.

  • Issue not with FF.

  • What phone are you using?

You can sideload the xpi file onto Firefox for Android

Settings -> About -> Tap on the Firefox Logo 5 Times -> Exit to main settings menu.

There should now be "Install extension from file" option in the Advanced section of the settings menu.

  • Again issue is not with FF.

2 different Android phones, same deal, KiWi browser.

  • OK, think I got it worked out.

Must be something with the compression of the ZIP file.

Just tried and unpack the ZIP file, then rezipped it without compression then loaded it on phone, and behold it installs as it used to do.

So the original zipping of file (profanity) it up. Why it worked fine on desktop since it's installed unzipped there :)

  • It was just updated another point, same deal, unpack/ repack/ install/ all good.

  • I've always had issues on Mobile.

  • Mine still working on Android Mozilla Firefox Nightly. However, I noticed everytime the extension updates, it messes up certain publications (eg: Herald Sun) so I had to go into the tickboxes and reticked the Newscorp indicator and it would work again.

  • BPC + Kiwi is a brilliant combo
However as Kiwi is no longer getting updates, I've switched to using BPC + Edge - I use Canary but regular works well.
Edge Android does have extension support (whitelist only) but if you switch to developer mode you can download the crx extension and install BPC.

    • Interesting.

    • Just been looking and Kiwi should still be getting updates.

  • I was not aware Kiwi no longer get updates, but not worried. I still use 7 on PC with monthly updates from Simplex. Good enough for me ;)

  • Latest update still fails to install.

Haven't been at the desktop yet to repack zip file

    EDIT:

    Repacked, working as it should.

  • Still not fixed

  • Mostly working for me on FF Android but the AFR stopped working a week or so ago. Have the last update to BPC but still no go.

  • Just had a look at AFR, everything looks like it should for me with KiWi browser on Android.

    • I ended up deleting then re-installing FF and BPC. AFR access now working.

  • It seems there are other people who has a problem installing this plug in Kiwi

    https://www.reddit.com/r/kiwibrowser/comments/1fk8y21/im_hav…

I'm not on Reddit, so can't tell them to rezip the plug and it will work. :)

  • Surprised this has not been fixed yet.

Still have re-zip this to work.

At least it still works beautifully when fixed :)

  • Finally fixed, can update now without repackaging the zip, great
