Ripping off decades old designs by non-living designers (the Eameses, Arne Jacobsen etc.) is one thing, but I've always found it particularly distasteful for companies to steal and profit off the designs of living designers like in this instance. Australia has pretty weak design protection laws, which is allowing companies like this to pop up in their dozens — in Europe these chairs would be considered counterfeits and destroyed.

I don't think these replicas represent good value either, when I've seen plenty of good-condition second-hand originals of these (Made in Italy by Kartell) go for similar price-points.

Also, "Knoll" is a trademark company name (http://knoll.com) and there's no mention on the front page graphic that those Florence Knoll sofas are replicas, which is potentially misleading.

    expensive for a replica chair…
not a deal by any stretch.

if it was $22.90, I'm sure everyone will say this is a deal replica or not.

edit: to put in perspective for OP, OZbers would not pay $229 for a replica chair when they can get a decent comfy original brand office chair at $69 from office works/dse.
