      • Yes, walking is absolutely better than driving a car - especially because in many urban centres, half of car trips are under ~3km in distance.

There's clearly still a need for car trips. We certainly don't currently have adequate public transport for most places. But a bike can easily replace many car trips where there's adequate places to lock a bike.

I wanted an e-scooter for aaages, then they made it legal in vic and for some reason, I don’t want one anymore lol

  • Has been daily riding my G30 Max(brushless motor version) to and from work, very good and minimal maintenance needed. Really curious with the Max G2 that comes with suspension, how long until it needs to be replaced ? Is it worth the upgrade performance wise ?

    • +1

The suspension is incredible. It's a really smooth ride even on the crappiest of roads.

A company allowed to sell a product which is illegal to use! Interesting.

    • I guess it's not not illegal to sell an e-bike…

You can use it legally on private property.

    • +1

Unregistered dirt bikes have been sold for years……

Illegal in one scenario does not mean illegal in all scenarios.

    • +1

As the government is too slow to actually make them legal, I actually think this is a good thing. They are already sold at JB Hifi etc.

So let's just get everyone selling them and maximise people using them in public until the government is forced to legalise them.

I saw a food delivery rider wearing a high-vis vest and on what looked like a max g2. So people are even making a living using these things now and performing a useful public service.

      edit:

Segway is even encouraging: "Don't forget to tag us and share on social media when you're out riding your Segway next time. ".

  • Aww wished they opened up to online customers too.

How secure are E-Scooters when parking at local shops? Is it just a case of someone throws it in the back of their ute and it's gone forever or do they have decent security features to limit opportunistic theft?

    • +1

The scooter is attached to an account which can't be unpaired without the owner doing it from their phone and if you have a passcode set up they're pretty much useless if stolen. That being said the kind of person that's gonna throw one in the back of their truck probably won't be checking that before they take it haha. Most people lock them up as you would a bicycle.

    • Same as a bike. Chain it up and hope for the best.

    • Not sure about other places but if you're in Sydney chances it get stolen is almost 100%. The only time I decided to lock it outside the cafe for breakfast, someone tried to take it with them as they walk pass, they even question if it's my scooter when I stopped them.

With the new feature you might be able to track it or disable it remotely but by the time you find it it's probably trashed, and you are wasting your time or still losing the money you pay for it. My advice, don't leave it unattended.

  • Love my F2 I got for $749 from Amazon. This Max G2 is an awesome bargain.

Is this in-store only? Possible to get someone local in QLD to price match?

This morning there was a young bloke riding his ebike on botany road, alexandria, when flames started coming out of the battery. Luckily there was an off duty fireman nearby who put out the fire. The rider was ok.

    • +1

That's the problem with cheap batteries. I always try to get something with quality branded cells.

  • What ebike would be the equivalent of this? I mean not quite top tier but pretty decent bramd and product, and above average.

My goal is to commute to work, riding on paths (legal here in ACT) and roads, distance about 12 km each way. No need to fold it up.

  • Can you get this price match at JB?

  • I have done over 3200km of escooter riding on NSW roads. Maybe I should use the money/luck I saved by not getting fined yet to splurge on upgrade to max g2….

  • is p100s limited to 25km/h? there are no specifications on the website. lol.

  • Have had a Segway E25 for a few years now. No issues with charging though I don't ride in the rain and generally look after it. Love the scooter.

Have ridden directly past police on foot and patrol cars have passed me without issues. Riding around suburban roads mainly. Not CBD or popular areas. Also riding without helmet as I figured the fine for riding without helmet is small compared to a fine of driving an unregistered vehicle.

    • +1

Also riding without helmet as I figured the fine for riding without helmet is small compared to a fine of driving an unregistered vehicle.

Ignoring the obvious safety concerns, doesn't this make you more likely to be singled out, and therefore stung with both fines?

      • hasn't happened yet :D

    • +1

without helmet is small compared to a fine of driving an unregistered vehicle.

Even if you wear a helmet the police can fine you for not wearing an approved motorcycle helmet. So I agree with you in that you might as well just not wear one at all.

      • I have decided not to buy. Will see if I can take my xiaomi pro 2 to 6000 km.

  • Do they ship to WA?

    • It's the stores grand opening so in-store only purchase.

  • I wonder if it worthwhile hopping on the bus from Canberra on Friday night, and camp out outside the shop overnight.

    • If you want to get me one then definitely worth it πŸ˜‰.

What if i bought one and vinyl wrapped it to look like a hire scooter?,

  • What is the warranty like on these things? Can seem to find it on their website.
