  • Question - are Amex cashback offers limited to Platinum-level cards or do fee-free Amex holders get them too?

    • +3

I got this offer on my Discovery (fee-free) card.

      • Thanks

        • Same here, same card.

  • My Qantas Amex gets it

Any particularly good deals which go well with this offer?

    • There’s nothing really on their store these days

Good to buy Xbox for 20% off..?

  • Can we buy gift cards with this?

  • Can buy 10 years of 365 family subs with this

  • Do current Surface models still have the horrific dynamic backlight that you can't stop from being dynamic so in a low light situation it goes bright and dark every 10 seconds (presumably because it's detecting it's own backlight bouncing off your face and mistaking that for an increase in ambient light)?

Every work Surface (3 models at 2 workplaces) I've had has done this. Unusable.

  • Got it on Charge card

  • literally impossible to buy gift cards - the transaction doesnt go through on Microsoft end

Edit - spoke to customer care and apparently there is some security block - I added the gvs to my cart - made sure I had the correct Amex card added as payment and then the customer service agent processed the order on my behalf - went through in one go - hope that helps

    • Amex conf email received for cash back

      • How does this work to purchase giftcard?

Once purchased, can i utilise the gift card $800 and then pay the balance with another amex card?

        • That’s exactly what I did - I got a laptop for $1899 and got $100*8 gift cards and then spent the rest on the other Amex I have - you will have to contact support and they have to process the transaction for you - add them to your bucket - make sure CC is added to your account - it’s not straightforward but the CC girl was very helpful - once you get the cards you can redeem them all whilst paying and now use the other Amex to make the balance payment - got $320 back
