  • +1

  • Looking for the one with f4ont and rear camera. Inhave Azdome at the moment, but it randomly stops recording. So always check that recording has started before leaving.

    • -1

Possibly an error writing to SD card??

    • -1

Try another SD Card. Maybe doesn't like the card you have?

  • Thanks OP. Got it for $30. Hopefully good value.

    • +1

Unfortunately it's not, it's riddled with issues. See comments further down including my own. Save your $30 if you can.

    • Can you still return it?

  • +1

I don't know if this is good but I guess in the spirit of OzB, buy first think later.

  • -3

I HAVE ONE OF THESE IN MY LANCER (OR HAD)

Please please do NOT buy, it's E-Waste, literally died after 3 weeks, got a replacement, died again after 10 days, offered refund.. save yourself the hassle.. Overheats VERY quickly also, in the middle of winter lol

    • +2

      Thank you for saving $30

    • Thank you. It will be very hot soon, saved $30.

    • Got a refund after purchase. The saying, you pay for what you get and got a Viofo DC.

  • +1

Really been impressed with the front + rear AZDOME dash cam I've got (M300S) that I picked up for like $60. It hasn't missed a beat. I'd snap this up if I needed it :P

  • +3

Yepa, looking at reviews ..itis exactly what you expect for the price lol..
I seriously hope nobody needs to rely on something as trash as this for a n insurance claim, dash cam not something worth buying bottom of the bucket crap.

  • +2

I have this. It is really bad

It is plagued with issues. Poor build quality to unreliable performance. My screen flickers, constantly keeps resetting settings. Warranty is non-existent and they basically forced me into a chargeback.

For something as important as a dashcam, it really pays to buy a reliable one. Price only makes one part of something being considered a bargain. Cheap price at $30, but save it for a better dashcam.

  • hows the setup and installation?

  • +32

Can people stop up voting crap products just because there's a big discount? Something you throw in the bin because it's trash is still worth $0 no matter how much it's discounted

    • Agree

    • Did you have any experience with these to make that comment?

I've installed a couple and they work perfectly fine and a much cheaper price point than anything else available.

      • +1

Have you read any of the comments in this thread?

        • +2

It sounds like he has actual empirical evidence. Why dismiss that?

      • Just to clarify: You are talking about this exact model, right?

Because I have a cheapo FullHD AZDome and it has been fine but would totally believe that the overheating 4K model is crap.

    • +10

Sure, but on what basis are we claiming this to be a 'crap' product? From only five reviews left on a website that generally tends to be skewed toward the negative?

Some of the site's ratings of other established brands:

      Miele 1.6
      Beko 1.6
      Samsung 1.3
      Milwaukee Tools 1.3
      Westinghouse 1.6
      Electrolux 1.5
      Franke 2.0
      Dyson 2.3

And reviews of the GS63H on other websites tend to be more fair-to-good rather than bad:

      Amazon 3.9
      eBay 4.2
      AliExpress 4.8
      Dashcamdeal 4.5
      Honest John 4.0

  • +2

Avoid it. spend a few more $ n get a good dashcam.

  • +3

Get a cheap Viofo if you want a cheap dash cam.

You will severely regret spending less on a dash cam when you actually need the footage from the dash cam.

    • +1

There are times to buy cheap ..and times where buying cheap will cost you more …

Had this camera for about 6 years. Judging from the time was about one of the first 4K camerras to be around. The camera quality was ok, and sufficed whatever you needed from it. The strongest selling point is the battery built in, meaning it can turn on whenever someone hits your car while the camera is off (However it does become so annoying as when you enter or exit the car and it shakes - the camera turns on). Another issue was when someone actually hit my car! the camera never turned on …. But I will give it the benefit of the doubt having lasted 6 years. Above all, have purchased one again to replace the one that missed my car being hit while parked. Thanks OP !

    • Another issue was when someone actually hit my car! the camera never turned on ….

So it failed you when you needed it the most but

Above all, have purchased one again

Why? It clearly showed it is unreliable.

The strongest selling point is the battery built in

This is pretty much standard for any reputable (or not) dashcam. Dashcams have improved quite a lot in the 6 years your first one lasted. Your first one already failed and you need to replace it?

      • To be fair, it worked every time for the 6 years lol knowing this from everytime I would get in my car it would turn on and start recording. I'd call it bad luck and being for so long that it did fail me when I needed it most.
Now they are all built in with supercapacitors meaning you need to hard wire it to get the 'Parking Feature'. Happy to bite the bullet and hoping this brand new one wont fail me like the 6 year old one did

        • -1

Where dobyou park that the battery survived for 6 years? Are you in Tassie?

          • @goodwillN1: Sydney lol - to be fair the only thing that fried was the SD card, replaced it to a Samsung and worked ever since

      • Any reputable dashcam would not have a battery built in but a shut down capacitor instead. Heat kills batteries.

        • Thats the thing, you lose your parking mode when the car is off, if someone was to hit you. Unless its hard wired, you wouldnt be able to have the camera turn on to record the event

  • I want a "decent" dash cam, front & rear… don't want to spend $400 though :/ Happy for suggestions.

      VIOFO or 70mai

      • Appreciate input.

        • +3

VIOFO tends to come up quite a bit in discussions of lower-priced dashcams.

Choice did a comparison around 12 months ago (the VIOFO A129 was listed sixth, but only three percentage points off first place).

          • +1

            @dd22qq: great info, cheers.
            Looking at A129 PLUS DUO

            • @wiz187: A129 is the old model. The new a229 has the new Sony sensor

              • @bumluffa: Im not after latest n greatest, just something decent & reviews on A129 plus seem positive. Definitely has been popular here on OB.

    • Define 'Decent" and work back from there - also add in what it could cost you cam failed and need to pay excess for insurance as now deemed at fault.

      • Sure, decent as per definition is - of an acceptable standard; satisfactory. I know some dual camera dash cams are better than other, I don't want the BEST, just something decent. My excess is $850, in 32 yrs driving 2 at fault claims, so just want to protect myself as I now have a more $$ car. It could cost me $75k ( car insured value ), but odds are against that based on driver history… Got anything useful to me to add re brands or models of dash cams?

  • get the 70mai guys, much better!

  • These cheap dashcams don't tend to survive long under the aussie sun. Unless you intend to only park under shade I wouldn't recommend wasting money on this.

  • For rear dashcams, is it OK for the camera to be 5-6 cm from the glass or is it better if it is as close to the glass as possible?

  • is that a mini USB port on the picture ?????

  • I'm looking for a decent DC, don't mind spending some money on it. Can anyone recommend something?
I want something decent that I will actually be able to see the license plate etc
    Thanks in advance

  • iGotMoreMoney by not buying this, thanks

    • They re-enabled the code after your post, can confirm it wasn't working but looks like it's on again.

Still not worth the $30, though :)

  • Not worth the $30. Dashcams are a pretty important item if you want to get it in your car. Spend a bit more to get a decent brand.

    • what brand/model
      and got a link / deal ?

  • I have this dashcam and I do not recommend. Overheats frequently, files gets corrupted, uses battery (capacitor dashcams are better) and is not reliable overall. Literally won't start with the car 90% of the times and would need to be unplugged and plugged to make sure it starts. Recommend Viofo dashcam (I got A119 mini v2 and has been working perfectly for +2 years unlike this garbage becoming useless few months after using). Check other comments for other alternatives as well.

  • For something as important as a dashcam, get something you can rely one, or don't get one at all. This is almost certainly a waste of $30 (or $66).

  • Just increase your budget if you need a cam, A200 or M300 from 70mai, both in mine/partner's cars. 0 issues and apps that actually work
