    Matching Mouse also available:

  • Anything similar with clicky switches?

  • +3

Good price… that rrp is silly

    • +14

All Razer products/Computer Peripherals in general has insane marked up RRP.

      • +13

They are also dogshit quality. I have a razer keyboard that has a little LCD screen for watching youtube (wtf) and you have to be logged into razer software to use some of the functionality (for no valid reason).

  • +1

    No RGB T_T

    • +1

      no rgb = not gaming

  • +9

Read Reddit on this keyboard. Seems there are quality control issues.

It's definitely an accessible price but things like double pressed keys and keys that are activated without pressing and different switch noises all sound like they would bug me over time.

Better to put $80 towards a decent keyboard (which appear to be around the $180/200 mark for what I'm looking at: low profile, full size, wireless via USB dongle, quiet)

    • +7

I am on my third keyboard since buying one of these in January.

The keyboard is great, but the = key stopped working on the first one after six weeks. I need a functioning equals key. Second keyboard developed random double presses of the left tab after about two months. Made alt+tab and ctrl+tab a nightmare.

      Big QA issues.

      • +7

Oh and with the amount of time I have spent interacting with Razer support, this keyboard has now absolutely cost me money. I have sunk hours and hours into support interactions. Taking videos to prove the issue, taking photos of the destroyed devices so that they don’t have to organise return postage, and so on.

        • +3

Thanks for sharing your experiences, hopefully people see it before buying!

NOT hot-swappable switches. so many better options even at this price point.

    • +2

      Such as?

Something with as low latency and not a accidentally tacked on random 2.4ghz module…

      • +4

        What do you mean by

not a accidentally tacked on random 2.4ghz module

        • A lot of the keyboard makers that are not large enough to have a budget to design a low latency modules just buy whatever is available and put it on their keyboard.

Larger companies like Logitech and razer have custom firmware/software for that sort of stuff to reduce input latency to compete with wired keyboards speeds.

          • +2

@Larsson: I'm genuinely curious; do you have an example of a low budget, tacked on 2.4GHz keyboard make and model?

      • This:
        https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/185746796469

        $75 with MS17SEP 17% off code

        • Choose between wired Type-C connectivity or Bluetooth 4.0 wireless for up to 3 devices.

Doesn’t seem like it’s even 2.4ghz, how’s that even remotely better if that’s the case?

    • +1

Why does anyone actually need this 'feature'?

      • +3

when they get too hot you can swap them out.

      • +3

because, as happened to me, a switch stopped working. Key became intermittent (Keychron). With hot swappable, just pull the key then the switch and replace it. Otherwise learn to solder or junk the whole board.

        • Yeah, ok, I guess that makes sense. Although given the price of a keyboard you'd hope keys being swappable isn't adding much to the price. I get pretty skeptical with a lot of 'innovations' to peripherals, often feels like they are solving problems that barely exist to make you think you should pay more.

I hammer my keyboards typing and gaming and I've never had a key failure in 35 years. Currently have a Das keyboard in the office and a Steelseries at home and both seem pretty bullet proof. Mice on the other hand always give up the ghost eventually…

          • @caitsith01: Also for example I like Cherry MX Green switches. They are a heavy switch that is not common anymore. KB manufacturers will now mass produce KBs in only the very select most popular switch ranges but because they're hot-swappable I can buy the keyboard I want and the switches I want too. I've had multiple keys die on me over the years.

For example one of my favourite KBs is the old K95 if it were hot-swappable I'd have changed the switches to Green by now but they're not so I'm stuck with the ugly reds. I'm going to attempt a conversion on some older key boards I have.

            • @TheFyrd: Yep, makes sense, although I don't know what everyone's doing to their keyboard that I'm not!

      • if you don't like the feel/sound of your switches or get bored of them, you can swap them out

or if they stop working, you don't need to buy a whole new keyboard.

  • Had me tempted then I realised it's a loud keyboard - big No from me.

    • +2

They're marketed as 'silent' linear switches, they're not going to sound like a typewriter by any means. These aren't blue/clicky switches. Not all mechanical keyboards are loud

      • I watched a vid, it was far from silent. That's why the microsoft sculpt wireless is my fav keyboard

      • The bottoming out is very noisy though, which is very easy to do in a linear keyboard.

    • It's a silent liner switch. Not loud at all. Am assuming it's like the MX reds.

  • Is this better than Logitech G613?

    • Another Logitech victom here…Bought G910 many years ago which developed double click issue right after warranty period. Don't know how Logitech quality goes these days but won't pay any on Logitech products any more going forward

      • My g613 is almost 3yrs old and it has issues with double click and 10 of the keys paint have totally peeled off.

  • I'm still on the lookout for a keyboard similar to Apple's Magic Keyboard with chiclet keys, that are almost silent and have backlighting.

    • +1

You looked at any low-profile mech keyboards?

      • I'm looking at something almost completely silent - I've found that even "silent" mechanical keyboards make a noise when you move your fingers over the keys.

    • +4

You are describing the MX Keys basically. Keys aren’t raised but feel just like chiclet.

      • Thanks for the tip :-)

    • +1

MX Keys for sure. MX Mechanical for something a bit more tactile.

    • Keychron B6 Pro

  • Have heard these are really bad. Was looking for something but read way too many negative experiences with them.

  • Might stick with the old Tactile G915 TKL for a while longer. This one reads like it constantly has problems from reviews.

    • +1

I feel like even the Deathstalker V2 Pro doesn't compete with the G915…

  • +2

Spend $40-50 more and get a half decent mechanical keyboard in any size you want….

Lookup akko keyboards centrecom and pccasegear sell them will beat this one hands down.

Hasn't the mechanical keyboard fad died yet??
Best sales gimmick to come out from that industry

    • +1

Its not a fad, once you start using a mechanical keyboard, you will never go back. I never want to use a membrane keyboard again. I only use mechanical keyboards now.

      Its not a gimmick.

      • +1

Not going against your choice, I respect it, I just want to understand it so I know.
To me, a mechanical keyboard in an office environment, is the most annoying sound I can think of (second after eating with a mouth open). And in an office, you are not gaming, just working.
In a gaming, it makes sense to me to have a keyboard with less travel distance to the button to reduce lag, so a 'laptop' keyboard is most suitable than a mech.
        hat am I missing?

        • +1

Linear switches are a thing. They're not loud, but the typing experience is a lot nicer than membrane keyboards.

        • +2

First, let me preface by saying its a very personal choice, there is no size fit all, so my opinion is just as valid as yours or anyone else's as its a very personal choice.

For me, I like mechanical keyboards because I want a more satisfying feedback when I type, I enjoy the sound as well. Its the feel and sound first then the repairability aspect second as well as the ability to customize the keycaps.

The "switch" is the mechanism that gets pushed down to register a keystroke. For membrane keyboards, the circuit is embedded in a membrane (hence the name) and if one key malfunctions, the whole keyboard will need to be thrown out. Not so for a mechanical keyboard. The circuit board, the switch and keycaps are all replaceable, so depending on what is broken, just replace that part and away you go again.

Your noise concerns is a very valid one as we live in a civilized society where we need to interact with others in a confined space (office), hence there are 3 main types of switches which gives off very different sound profiles, linear, tactile and clicky.

Linear switches are the quietest, it gives off a satisfying sound, but its not too loud, I use a keyboard with linear switches in the office.
Tactile switches are little louder, they require more power to actuate (push the keys down to register a keystroke)
Clicky switches are the ones which require the most power to actuate and gives off the loudest sound, recommend not to use these in the office if you don't want to annoy others.

Hope that helps, I suggest you go to JBHiFi or some other computer shop to touch and feel these keyboards as it is really based on personal preference.

          • +1

@BargainHunter888888: Thank you for the detailed information. That makes sense to me and as you mentioned, it is a personal choice.
Might pop into jbhifi for a test on a linear one.

          • @BargainHunter888888: Genuinely curious, how often does your keyboard stop working that repair-ability is a factor? I don't think I've ever had to replace a keyboard due to something breaking.

            • +1

@Flying Ace: I've yet to replace the board of my mechanical keyboard, but I have swapped out switches and keycaps. Its just nice to have the option. Its a secondary reason for me, I like the feel and sound of it the most, a membrane keyboard can never give me that.

  • This keyboard is not that good, you can get better ones for that price point.

  • Not recommended, issues with keys presses not registering

    • +1

Or registering ghost keystrokes, I see alot of complaints and returns for this keyboard around ghost keys, so when you type it cooommess ouuuutt liiiiike thiiiisssssss.

  • Not it's $109, the code doesn't work

  • -1

get a keychron dont' waste your money on razer s$%t.

  • Great for work. Need a bluetooth keyboard.
Personally, would use a Ducky as my daily driver from mecha mini to ducky legend, still love that keyboard

  • Can anyone please recommend a matching BT mouse?

  • +1

KB just arrived today. Keys are linear and have a little bit of resistance so they don't feel as mushy as some other linear switches out there (looking at you, redragron). The one thing that almost sent insane was that FN function defaults to on, i.e. when you press F1, sound toggles between on and off instead of help appearing. And there's no way to change without synapse being installed (not good for work laptops). Did a bit of digging and found that the latest firmware update solves the issue.

    Steps:
    1. Download firmware update here
    2. Press FN + esc to toggle FN mode

  • Thanks OP!
