  • A reviewer posted 122MB/s sequential write speed. Suitable for Nikon Z6ii maybe shooting in burst mode?

      I found this post. https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/4594046#forum-post-65…

Says write speed slowed down after 70 something pics on a slower SD card. If that works for you, it'll be decent. They made a comment about 4K recording needed 130MB/s potentially.

      • Thanks for that link. Gives a good perspective of the different write speeds for the different types of cards. I do have a Sony XQD and an Angelbird CFexpress which I will use for high speed tasks. For the most part, the SD card you have posted looks like it will do alright.

4K24p h264 recording generally is 1GB/mins or less than 20MB/s, this is more than enough. I don’t know about RAW recording but suspect not going to be over 100MB/s.

It's probably not going to hit 122MB/s because it requires a supported card reader to hit those speeds. It will likely be capped at 100MB/s in camera. I haven't used Nikon but Sony/Canon do not recognize these proprietary Samsung/SanDisk protocols. If you want faster SD cards you need to buy cards that are actually fast like UHS-II V60/V90 cards or CFexpress…

      • Good point. I'm looking for a value for money card that doesn't need to perform to the limits of the camera but to complement the already expensive XQD and CFexpress cards.

        • I just use Samsung EVO plus microSDs in my Sony A1 when I am shooting casually and don't need speed. I generally find those to be the best value and the more expensive Samsung Pro and SanDisk Extreme Pro UHS-I cards do not offer any noticeable performance benefits in camera (Same photo buffer clearing speeds, same V30 rating for video).

Not sure how these full size EVO plus microSDs compare.

I'm using an older camera, like a Canon 600D is there any difference to using a microSD card in an adapter vs an actual SD card? It's just used to take photos for fun and nothing work related.

No difference for SDXC UHS-I afaik with that camera

EDIT: the higher II and III speeds have extra row of pins that your camera won’t have anyways, so default back to slower speeds of around 100MB/s - so look for a card that supports that as minimum write speed

Quick Google says burst mode needs 75MB/s for raw

  • Is this good for the VIOFO A229pro? I bought the dashcam but I haven't bought a SD card yet

  • Will this work / is good for a canon 5d mark 3?

    • It'll work fine imo.

      • Appreciate it 👍. Will grab one
