I hate how the ongoing prices are so much more… cbf switching every like 6 months

    • +2

Why? It’s so easy on the NBN. Literally takes minutes.

      • +3

Do you need to do it on the last day of the month for your current plan or do they pro rata the bill?

        • +4

          depends on the ISP

        • Tangerine don't pro-rata but you can schedule the disconnect via the online portal.

    • Do you need to buy a new router everytime you change the provider?

      • +1

No, just easier to plug and play. Superloop is so easy to setup via their app

      • -1

        They like tplink

      • If you're on fibre then the box on the wall does the majority of what your old modem-router used to do. The router now is pretty much a router in the proper sense - it's just routing LAN traffic not doing logins to the ISP etc.

    • It feels like scammy dishonest practice to me

      • +1

It feels like scammy dishonest practice to me

What, switching provides every 6 months?

        • +3

the nbn companies doing "special deals"

          • +1

@LegitBox: Comes from NBN itself as I understand it. Hence why so many retailers offer the same 6-month discount promotions.

    • +2

The Leaptel offer is better since it goes for 12 months

      • Dude that 'super sonic' plan pricing on leaptel is insanely good to be true.
Would that need a special router to be used? I recently got the 3 unit wifi 6 mesh thing, might check the speed limits on it again.

    • Superlooop offered me a permanent $100 plan (1000/50) when I called and discussed with them, so always worth a shot calling them to see first before changing

      • +1

I've had substantially less dropouts with Leaptel than I did on Superloop.

    • +2

It would be nice if companies just rewarded customer loyalty

    • +3

Agree. The whole market is really stupid right now and its the customer that suffers.

      • 6 month deals that don't reward any customer loyalty.
      • Increases in prices because NBN completely screwed up its initial roll out and is losing market share to 5G.
      • Essentially no difference in customer experience between providers to justify any difference in pricing.
      • Upload speed is overlooked and not typically offered at an economical price to not affect business customers.

We're still leaps and bounds away from other countries. Admittedly I don't need more than 100 down, but I do need 40+ up, and I shouldn't have to pay $75 a month for it.

      • -2

What are you hustling that requires you more than 40 mbps up speed?

  • -1

does anyone know what qualifies as a new customer? I was with them a couple of years ago

    • +6

This offer is only available to new customers who are connecting to a Tangerine nbn® service for the first
time. It is not available to customers with an existing Tangerine nbn® service or who have previously had a
Tangerine nbn® service. The offer is only available once per customer and per premises.

      • Can we use someone else’s name at the premise for this? Also noting it only says this particular offer is once per premise so doesn’t matter if the premise has taken up previous offers?

        • once per customer and per premises.

          • @jv: It doesn’t say ‘all offers are once per customer and per premise’. It says this offer is once per customer and per premise?

            • @donamique: They have an online chat that is active during business hours (I think), that would be your best bet.

      • +8

So if your details have already been hacked and leaked by Tangerine you don't qualify for this deal.

        • Not Optus this time ?

    • +2

give them a caĺl, i got back with them 2nd time this month, Even though i had an account with them.

I was with Tangerine for 6 months, then 1 year with More. Now back to tangerine for next 6 months.

Edit: and i didn't even have to change the setting in the router, because they are sister companies. So when they send you the settings through email, don't need to update.

    UltraSpeedy 650/42Mbps

    Can I have MegaSpeedy 100/100?
    Or GigaSpeedy 1000/1000?

    • +6

      This guy seeds.
      :)

      • +2

        Find him the plan, he's a do-gooder 🙃

  • +10

Don't forget to use the referral codes too. You get the credit instantly at the checkout.

I'm currently with tangerine and churn every 6 months between them and exetel.
As long as you have been away from them for 6 months, you're a new customer

    • What type of connection do you have?
Is there a downtime when you switch?

      • I have HFC.

        No downtime during the switch

    • +1

I had no issues getting the credit when I signed up ~9 months ago.

Have you ever shared your code here via random referral and got $25 credit? I have given out my code 4 times but never got a credit, but I don't know if the other party just didn't go through with their order or if Tangerine aren't paying out to the referrer.

Edit: I have just churned out from Tangerine and removed myself from the referral links, please don't delete this message mods.

      • i once got the refferal code from here, but they said its only for new new customers not for the returners/churners.

    • How can you do that?

      = quote=

The offer is only available once per customer and per premises

I did join Tangerine for 2 months before moving to More.
It seems I cannot enjoy new customer discount.

  • Weird pricing structure

@OP, where did you see about the price increase? Do you know if this will apply only to connections after that date or will existing plans have the price increases too?

    • +1

It's in the new customer promo T&Cs.

The promo price increase (not a plan price increase) is for signups after 31/8, so if you already have this price you will keep it.

  • Looks like I'll save $5.10 if switch my mobile and internet from mate for 6mo then I will be paying $15 more after the 6mo. I think I'll sit this one out.

  • Try exetel or superloop for NBN50/20

  • +2

I would be careful with these guys. I went to change my plan after 6 months. I got a confirmation I had downgraded, but when I looked at my invoice a few months later they were still charging me for the original higher plan.

I questioned it and got this reply

Upon checking here the plan change will not push thru since the NBN service is Coat Upgrade or Fresh Fiber

I couldn't find anything about this in the contract about being locked in for a year and absolutely no mention of Coat Upgrade. I questioned this several times and got no answer. Maybe it's something I missed, but the fact that when I requested the downgrade, they acknowledged it but kept charging me the higher price. Not the best customer service in my opinion

    • +2

If you got email acknowledgement of the plan change, I would submit a TIO complaint. Tangerine's reasoning for the plan not changing is unacceptable.

      • thanks, I left them now

  • +4

is Leaptel not the better option at $99 for 1000/50?

    • Came here to say the same thing.

      • yeah wtf haha

    • +1

If you have CommBank Yello then More is significantly cheaper than Tangerine (who are the same company), e.g. I'm on Everyday Plus and More offers me $87.75/month for 1000/50 for 12 months.

  • I had a dreadful time with Tangerine, slow speeds and frequent dropouts. The moment I switched to a different supplier all of the "line problems" that apparently needed a technician to fix mysteriously disappeared….

They don't buy enough bandwidth and then try to blame it on your line.

    • Tangerine are just selling Vocus wholesale services like Dodo etc., so it's luck of the draw as to what they're like in your area.

      • I've been with vocus wholesalers before without much issue but this was egregious. The service never went above 2mbps, tech support cited a line fault. Switched to dodo (and have changed since then again) and the speed was immediately better.

  • +15

Just a reminder that they had a data breach in Feb 24.
I left them 3 years ago, they still kept my identification data and got leaked.
All I received was just an email notification.
No compensation, no details on what exactly was leaked, and no help to replace driver licence.

    • +7

Yeah same here. They also mentioned that secret questions which haven't been used in years has also been breached.

They seem to provide no support on this matter and basically said "tough luck", we can't compensate you if there was no financial damage.

    • +4

Agree. Absolute scumbags who should have been prosecuted for the data breach. Amazed it was kept on the down low.

    • They might have to retain your info for 7 years by law. I was going to go with them but decided Leaptel instead. Lucky me.

    • +1

Same thing happened with me. Do your selves a favour please. Don't go with Tangerine

  • +3

    $83 for 50 Mbps lol

  • +1

    this is not cheap

    • Do you have some suggestions…?

      • -1

i always look for a provider with dynamic ip and 1000/50 at the moment iinet has it for 99 for six months.

  • We are currently paying $81 pcm for Superloop 50/20…
Is this Tangerine $62.90 for 6 months worth the switch?

    • +1

Tangerine is an F tier operator. I would not go to Tangerine

  • +1

    Buddy is cheaper for 1000/50.

Probably fine to churn for whoever cheaspest, provided its not exetel.

They have a really bad track record as many have experienced & it hasen't improved for a long time.

  • +2

    I went with Flip for $39 6 months 25/8

    • Thanks so much for the comment, I really appreciate it!!

  • +4

This price also stacks with Bupa health insurance $15 off code - currently paying $49.99 for the 100/17Mbps plan.

    • Where do you get the code from? Had no idea this was a thing.

      • +1

Search tangerine in the Bupa life rewards section on the app.

        • Hi @Weasel, can you check if the $15 off code is still available in the Bupa app? I could not find it there

          • @oling: Yes still showing for me - now $20 off per month. im only tier 1 membership.

            • @Weasel: Ah right, it's $20 off per month, which works out to be the same as normal new nbn customers, the only difference is this offer is 1 year vs 6 months. I assumed both the bupa discount and the normal new nbn customers offer do not stack

              • @oling: I was able to stack both. Give it a try.

  • +6

I was part of their data breach. I was with them 2 years ago and they were still holding my details :(
    https://www.whistleout.com.au/Broadband/News/Tangerine-cyber…

  • I see they have upped the price from $49 to $52 for 25/10

  • +2

one of the worst ISP ever…

I churn away and called them to make sure I am off the list
they even sent me an "sorry to see you go…" email
then I left the country to oversea, and they keep billing me…
(it's for the usage period AFTER I left them)

I called them from oversea, they said they gonna fix it, and have someone to call me back
    guess what happened next? NOTHING!
they keep sending me email & SMS demanding money…says I owe them money!!!

I guess TIO is the next step…

  • Can we get 15% cashback from Topcashback in addition to the $25 referral credit? https://www.topcashback.com.au/tangerine-telecom/

  • anyone hold Citro card? just saw there's 100% cashback offer inside app, but my one year free on citro is almost due. thinking if worth to keep card for $2/m

    • *$100

    • for anyone (Citro card holder) interesting, I placed order 250/25 $84.90 and got 100% cashback from Citro in 2days.
also it could stack with topcashback 15% at least it's tracked.

  • not sure if this helps anyone but TPG have a price beat guarantee for plans 100Mbps and above, so they will beat any advertise price that is for a 12 month period, so it won't work for all the 6 month price deals but if anyone is offering a first 12 month deal they will beat it, i personally have used TPG for a long time and they are pretty solid
