nbn 100/20 $74.95/Month, 250/25 $89/Month, 1000/50 $99/Month for 12 Months (New Customers) @ Leaptel

2990

Leaptel has some pretty good deals on their nbn plans. Especially the 1000/50 plan for $99 per month for 12 months. My experience with them has been great. Their customer support are great and service has been good. The discounts range from $20-$30 I think.

Offer is for New Customers only. You are considered a new customer if you haven’t connected before with Leaptel or have not been a customer for 12 months.

You can opt out of CGNAT in the portal if you don’t want to be on CGNAT and it will give you a dynamic IP. They also offer a static IPv4 for $10mth or a Static IPv6 for $1 per month.

They have changed backhaul providers. That change added redundancy to every POI. It should also reduce outages, both planned and unplanned.

The only RSP I have been with in my credit history shown only Superloop did a credit check.

      • I am sure a lot companies will do credit check, like TPG, Optus, Telstra, etc. Not too many do not.

  • Help, please.

  • +1 Leaptel, was with them for 12 months with their $59 50/20 plan. Have ported out since, waiting for a similar offer

    • I think you can sign up as a new customer after 12 months of not being with them.

    • Can also sign up under your partners name

  • What's CGNAT?

    • What is the purpose of CGNAT?
CGNAT is used by ISPs to conserve public IP addresses, as the pool of available IPv4 addresses has been exhausted.

What is the disadvantage of CGNAT?
CG-NAT can potentially reduce the performance of applications or services that require end-to-end connections between two or more private networks. Because all packets must traverse through an intermediary device, increased latency and added processing overhead can hinder network performance.

  • Currently paying $64.95 for 50/20, and that’s with a discount.
While leaptel have been good, I’ve just switched to the mate deal from a few days ago. $60/month for 100/20

    • Who offers the mate deal?

      • Mate does!

        • Was posted here last week

      • i've never seen a nbn deal get that many negs lol

  • +4

I was 110% on board with the ‘RSP doesn’t matter, cheapest is best’, especially since all the lack of CVC issues have been fixed, but (profanity) me, I’ve been with Leaptel 2 months and had multiple drops, they’ve had multiple other issues in that time, (profanity) their entire network even causing their website to go down, multiple BGP updates that have resulted in a lot of addresses being non-routable.

I don’t care for support because I know my way around an internet or 2 but I cannot recommend them at all, unreliable as (profanity).

    • Iv noticed this too, drop outs every 3-4 days last an hours, sometimes their website also goes down.

    • I've had 2 outages in 6 months. One was back up in about 10-15mins, the other maybe 30? Both acknowledged promptly on whirlpool.

  • I'm on 50/20 and paying $74.95…

    • Better swap then.

  • I've been meaning to churn from Superloop since they went full dog.

Perfect timing my bill on the 29th.

    • +7

Superloop has a 30 days notice period to cancel.

      • +1

lol what. I am definitely leaving those absolute dogs now. thanks for the heads up, that's unreal.

      • +5

So I rang Superloop and said I was churning. They offered $85 (100/20) over 6 months, I say neigh. Then they offer $85 over 12 months, neigh again. Then they offer $79 over 12 months, and mention the 30 day policy.

I say will my current bill in 4 days be $79, or only from next month. They say next month. I say this gives me no reason to stay. He checks with manager… Bill is reduced to $79 from this bill and the next 11 after. I agreed to stay, with no lock in.

Thanks for the heads up, happy now. Might change after another 6 months as I don't like this 30 days business.

        • +1

          Well played!

        • +1

          Well played!

          • +2

@Dan83: Yeah I just shared that for anyone else who might be in that position. At the end of the day I save a tiny bit but I should probably churn to leaptel in a few months armed with the knew knowledge that Superloop have this absurd anti-consumer 30 day BS.

            • @Budju:

I agreed to stay, with no lock in.

Good to hear they can waive that though. Appreciate the write up. I was able to get 1000/40 for $99 for 12 months after a call with their "success" team not too long ago, but will definitely call again when the time is nearly up to see if they can do the same for me if I decide to jump ship.

        • And when you get your bill the discount mysteriously wasn't applied.

        • They promised me a similar price last month, but they never came through.

      • Noob here, so do we call Superloop that I'm changing ISP. Then I will sign up Exetel and tell them I'm going to start after 30 days?

  • +1

Second time on Leaptel and it has been flawless again. 12 months discount means less stress having to jump around.

  • Highly recommend these guys. Zero issues.

  • -1

For all those interested in churning that absolutely need to opt-out of cgnat, afaik there are only a finite number of IPs available. Once done, so will be your option to opt out. First in, best dressed.

  • Worthy to note they also do 1000/400 for $165/month

    https://www.speedtest.net/result/16668019359

  • I was offered loyalty of $79.95 for 12 months. Mulling whether to stay or go to Mate with CB Yello offer.

  • +1

I left Leaptel for Buddy I dont need a static as I can use Tailscale if I want to access my Home Assistant server etc. Its been good. I had a few issues with Leaptel nothing major but more than with any of the others I was with.

  • +1

Signed up, thanks OP. Superloop was a joke

  • don't forget friend referral for $50 off

    • Will that stack ?

    • Only the referrer will get the $50 credit. Because of the discount.

Does anyone opt for their Eero modem?
How is the modem in general?
Have a 5bed 2 storey house - thinking if a single Eero is sufficient or I should use a mesh network.

    • +2

Had eero 6+ not as good as full sized optus modem i had previously. I bought 3 eero 6+ to go different places in the house but missing recpetion in some areas. Bottom line have one good modem forget these little eeros they are a waste

  • Churned from TPG to Dodo 4 months ago and really regret it. Looking for a new provider in 2 months, Leaptel, Exetel or back to TPG?

    • Check if you are eligible for FTTP upgrade and you can lock-in 100/20 with Leaptel for $64.95/mth for 12 months

  • +1

Leaptel is great! They’ve got even better deals if you accept the FTTP upgrade via Leaptel.
    I have 100/20 locked in at $64.95 p/m for 12 months.

    • How did you get $64.95 p/m?

      • Just checked Leaptel’s website and Looks like the price the commenter meant was the FTTP upgrade price.

        • Oh whoops. Yeah I should read properly. Thanks

  • I called Superloop, got them to match $99 for 1000/50 for 6 months by saying I would leave. Then I got a couple of family accounts on and get $20 discount for a while so $79. The fact those are stackable makes them very good if you are able to hook up a few friends or family.

  • I found leaptel 30-40MB/s slower than ABB for usenet (on 1000/50)… tested a few different usenet providers. Just putting it out there if its important to you :)

Otherwise no issues with the service!

  • +2

I'm on Leaptel 50/20 plan and pay $80 a month. I think I should move ISP

    • I'm $74.95 a month. Problem is, and I checked Whirlpool, Superloop seems to possibly be a bit hit or miss on speed lately. Could go with Mate for $50 a month for first 6 months but, and as people posted here, let's be honest. At that price something has to be compromised. That leaves Exetel and maybe the other company Exetel owns? About $65 a month for first 6 months at Exetel.

    • Is it possible to chat with their customer service and change your current plan?

    • +1

I was on the same, called them up and they agreed to the $74.95 100/20 plan for 12 months.

      • Thanks for the tip, I just called them and got the same deal of $75 for 100/20 for 12mths, then it goes to $90 but i'll look for a new deal then

  • There were several scheduled downtimes when I used it, many more than any other supplier I've used.

  • Does anyone know how long these prices will remain for?

    • +1

The prices don't have a expiry date.

      • Good to know thanks

      • Huh? These prices are introductory, no? They expire after 6 or 12 months depending on the plan.

        • +1

I think the commenter was asking about how long the deal will be available for sign up. After you sign up depending on the plan you will get the discount for 6-12 months.

  • Does the referral code work with new customers signing up these plans?

  • /sign. They have differnet pricing for Velocity/Opticomm network. Most ISPs have same price for Velocity/Opticomm and NBN though.

  • Does anyone know what ISP and ASN you get with a leaptel static IP? Is it a GSL IP or a Leaptel IP? If you get a leaptel IP is it just essentially reskinned GSL connection?

    • +1

I have IPV4 and IPV6 static IP enabled, recently got the 1000/400, get around 920 down and 370-380 up with speedtest.net.
      I get the following.

      whatismyipaddress:
      ASN:134090
      ISP:Leap Telecommunications

      1.1.1.1/help:
      AS Name Leaptel
      AS Number 134090

      ipv6-test:
IPV4 and IPV6 hostnames come up as IP.STATE.leaptel.network
      ISP: Leaptel

couple quick traceroutes show the first hops as *.leaptel.network also.
first hop out of leaptel is *.ix.asn.au when going to apple.com, Microsoft.com, news.com.au, one.one.one.one, ozbargain.com.au
first hop out of leaptel is *.megaport.com when going to xbox.com
first hop out of leaptel is *.globalsecurelayer.com going to eBay.com.au, amazon.com.au, ubuntu.org, playstation.com

I'm no expert on networks, hope this helps you.

  • +1

Just jumping onto the bandwagon to support Leaptel, I signed up during one of these discounted 12-month promotions fully intending to jump ship once the discount ended but my internet has been so good I've just stayed.

    Super recommend.

  • +3

    Why is Static IPv6 charged a $1 per month. i can understand ipv4 being $10 but a Static IPV6?

    • -2

probably because there are 340,282,366,920,938,463,463,374,607,431,768,211,456 IPv6 addresses and 4294967296 IPv4 addresses

      • That suggests that Leaptel are ripping people off.. For both the IPv4 and the IPv6. Just as well they have a free dynamic..

  • Any users in Perth? What's your experience like? I'm with spintel (50/20) for $75 so was thinking of switching to get double the speed (100/20) for same $$$.

    • I'm in Perth, been with Leaptel since July 2023 (they organised my FTTN > FTTP upgrade) and the service has been rock solid. I'm a happy camper.
They have a local PoP in Perth with low latency around Australia and the rest of the world. Full speed at all times with no peak time congestion at all, I'm on the 1000/50 plan.

      • How was the upgrade? Where was the new infrastructure placed? Were you able to have it placed where you wanted?

        • +1

My upgrade went really smoothly, the outside box went directly above the Telstra box where the copper line came in. Same with the NTD, they drilled a hole just above my copper landline connection and pulled the fibre through the existing conduit. All done in an hour or less.

It's right where I wanted it, which is behind my TV in the living room. It's pretty much the centre of the house so makes sense to have the WiFi router there anyway. My PC sits off to the side of the TV and I run ethernet to that.

NBN will generally try and reuse any existing conduit, so often your NTD will go wherever the primary copper connection is in your house unless there's some reason they can't do that. If you want it somewhere totally different, you may need to pay to get private cabling work done.

          • @bonezAU: I just want it in the same place as existing infrastructure. My modem currently sits in the middle of the house in the corner of a L-shaped hallway.

            • @sween64: Is that where your existing infrastructure is now? If so, there's a good chance they will do it there. As long as there's a powerpoint there and a conduit that runs back to the box on the outside of your house.

  • Just completed the first 12 months with Leaptel having churned from ABB. Did the upgrade to FTTP through them as well and it all went very smoothly. Had a couple of dropouts with only one a few hours long which was nationwide I think. Was hunting for best price when I received a loyalty email offering $10 a month off for the next 12 months. First time ever I have received a discount for already being a customer so I stayed. No complaints with the service.

  • What's with their whirlpool forum page. Must be on average a
new posting every thirty minutes. Its out of control no other Isp even close to Leaptel number of posings. If customer
service is so good why dont their customer use it. Crazy

    • +1

It’s because the owner, Matt, is active there and people have questions. Most of the people in the thread will direct others to Support with their issue because some people don’t contact support first.

  • I've been with leaptel for two months now, so not very long but found them great to deal with. Speeds consistently at 100mbs and only one dropout, although not entirely sure who's at fault because a modem reset fixed it.

  • +1

I did the math and would like to point out that for 12 months, the price of the 50mbps and 100mbps plans are the same..

  • Can you schedule the signup date? Apparently I need to give 30 days notice to dodo before leaving.

  • i have been on leaptel 1000mb plan and yes i also get dropouts and emails advising me of the dropout countless times, Sydney based, any other recommendations when the introductory 12 month period finishes? what's the next best deal

  • I get that IPv4 blocks are getting harder to obtain, but $10 for a static IP? yikes.

    • Yeah leaptel are on the expensive side of that, plenty of other providers who either throw it in free or charge $5.00

No way would i pay more than $5.00/mo for a static IPV4

  • -1

Im in Perth and swapped to Leaptel (took up the FTTC to FTTP) and have also found that Leaptel can be a bit glitchy - dropouts at random times. I wasnt expecting this especially as my previous provider I had no issues and was on a lower speed and only on FTTC.

I have changed the CGNAT in the leaptel portal however one more thing I will change is to get a new modem as the one I have is I have an old modem which I think might be time to upgrade. Can anyone suggest a modem to purchase ? Is there any decent ones for under $200 ?

(note I have also posted this in the forum to get more traffic)

  • On Leaptel for around 9 months, except few planned maintainance (usually 12:00am to 7:00am) , no issue so far. Didn't call for support as i didn't need, so don't know how their support.

  • Does anyone know if Telstra Smart modem gen 2 is compatible?

  • Leaptel use to be good, it's gone to shits….managers think they all that! Service is crap, they never had failovers in place when they had their massive outage….and they went and hid when it did, no communication. Funny enough back with Optus in my churn cycle and Optus come out on top lol

    • They are a small provider. Sometimes equipment dies out of no where. Matt their owner on whirlpool has admitted that the communication could have been better with the major outage and they have learned and are working on it. They are also working on separating their different areas, but like everything it takes time to do.

If you remember Optus had a major outage that affected Internet, Mobile and landlines. They had terrible communication but they are a major player.

      • -1

oh yeah optus is crap at it but at the moment it works well, GSL is horrible peering and they act like it's premium network but having one transit provider and not good planning. They rely on GSL redundancy providers. They have vocus as backup for local traffic but it is really meh. Launtel on the other hand openly says they use Superloop and GSL where it makes sense. For me they had a good run but burnt alot of customers with their sketchy promos.

  • Any of these good/bad experiences local to Brisbane?

  • Can i get a referral link please? Making the jump over.

  • -3

can someone please tell me how come Leaptel is so highly rated? 269+ vote for a price that is not competitive against other ozbargain NBN providers…

    • There's more to an internet provider than price alone

      • +1

There must be, otherwise it won't have this many votes.
3 ppl disliked my comment even though it was neutral question, no one actually able to answer exactly what makes the difference…

      • There are a few reasons I’m thinking of. First, having good local support is important to many people. No one likes dealing with overseas call centers with unhelpful agents. Second, the competitive pricing, especially with the 12-month discount, is appealing. Third, it’s a smaller provider, and many people prefer supporting smaller companies over larger ones. Additionally, they don’t force direct debit, which a lot of people dislike.

    • +1

1Gb for $99 is extremely competitive.

  • -1

Got the referral code thanks op

  • Switched from AussieBB to Leaptel and noticed a drop in speed of around 100-200Mbps…varies throughout the day
