Hope they aren't short dated like the previous couple of times.

Hmm..Rapeseed oil. I might switch to Almond.

    • +2

We are still using those short dated ones, 4 months after best before.
Partner can’t taste the difference. We had one leak in the fridge, but other than that they are fine.

    • I bought earlier this month. The expiry date was December 2024

    • +1

Yeah rapeseed oil - aka hexane solvent extracted canola… ☹️

      • I appreciate some people want to make milk froth but surely there's just as much people that doesn't care for it, so why these manufacturers won't make oat milk without seed oil just baffles me.

  • +1

    If it ain’t $6-7 I ain’t want it.

  • Price matching Coles for reference :)

  • Used to love oat milk until I read abt its high GI

  • +1

What is the ultimate milk alternative? (lactose impaired pooper here 🖐).

Every milk I go for and settle on someone tells me there's x,y,z bad things in it….which triggers my guilt of living in the first world with all its comforts and still not being happy…sorry. That escalated quick

    • +3

For taste this one rates good IMO.

For health - ref. comment below - no milk. We're not babies, no need for any milk at all. Drink water and eat food like our mothers' taught us when they took access to their boobies away.

      • +3

Yes but milk is healthy and delicious

        • +2

Healthy according to the ads the milk industry pays for, or doctors? Because I used to drink mountains of milk, and a doctor just shook his head when I mentioned it.

    • Give tiger milk from madame tiger a try. Organic tiger nuts and olive oil. Go the barista version - the original may be a bit too sweet.

      • What shop stocks those? Do you pay full $6?

      • How disappointing, for a moment I was excited to try milk from an apex predator 🐯

    • Organic coconut milk. Usually around $3 at Coles

    • -1

Zymil or a2 lactose free work for me.

    • Depends what you want it for. For coffee, this one isn't too bad. Often goes on 1/2 price sale. My preferred option is Alternative Dairy Co. Oat Milk - but you need to go through a wholesaler for it and buy in bulk.

    • This is a good one, the other one we go for is almond milky. It’s one that actually tastes okay making an iced coffee for example while some others are only okay to add to a cup of tea or coffee

    • Pure Harvest Almond Milk

  • There are some healthy oat milk options, i reckon. I usually go for this one which seems healthy, maybe there's something wrong with it, happy to be educated if so.

Sorry Goremans, I meant to reply to you, getting late for a battler like me.

    • Interesting. The oat % for this Coles homebrand is 15% vs OPs at 10%. I guess the taste and ability to make latte is more important?

      • +1

The coles one is healthy, but my favourite one for coffees is this one. I sometimes see deals for it, not sure if it's healthy or not, it tastes better so assuming it's not. Local cafes typically use this one.

        • Only 9%! Will look to give these two a go. Thanks

          • @hippo2s: If you do try them, let me know what you think. I love them especially for coffee.

        • Yeap this is the only one ill order in cafes.

          • +1

@BEZ2311: For oat yeah. But for soy bonsoy is still #1
Almond milk is best from milk lab

            • +1

@maverickjohn: Dude we're exactly the same!

              Taste wise, it's bang on.

That said, after this post I researched the nutritional information and alternative milk co is terrible when it comes to nutrition. All the calories and not much protein even with their soy milk.

              • @BEZ2311: I suspected this was the case, hence why I was unsure about nutrition. It tastes too good to be healthy.

                • +1

@kiriakoz: @kiriakoz Yes, I'm going to reduce my intake from now on. This alternative milk industry is a total scam like fruit juices used to be seen like a healthy option. I'll only drink oat in a sit down cafe from now. Otherwise, I'll just have long black.

This was $13 back in April

    • Good pick up. I personally don't rate the taste of this brand so I didn't realise the difference in price.

    • +1

So what? i got it for even cheaper than that. No need to neg. It’s still cheaper than regular price

    • April is a very very long time for consumables like this..
      Bad neg

  • +3

FYI… This is often discounted for even cheaper than this at Cheaper Buy Miles in Brunswick, VIC

    • +2

I can confirm they also have this at the Footscray and the Fitzroy stores!

      $2 each or a box of 6 for $10

      • i think last week i paid $9 for 6x1L

    • +3

      It's nut milk

      • -2

        milk.
        noun.
an opaque white fluid rich in fat and protein, secreted by female mammals for the nourishment of their young.
"a healthy mother will produce enough milk for her baby"
Dictionary definition. People don't use proper English anymore.

      • Nut juice? No, not THAT nut.

Well oats are not nuts either.

        Grain juice?

        • -1

Maybe we should start calling Orange juice - orange milk.

          • @mckayver: Dude, you say we don't use proper English anymore, we prove to you that you are wrong using proper dictionaries and you are still going off.
Perhaps it's you that needs to re-orientate yourself on the English language.
Rather than fighting against everyone who doesn't agree with you, embrace the language and work with it.

            • +1

              @maverickjohn: What's Engrish? I speak Oziglish.

              • @hippo2s: Haha Oziglish should be a thing. How else can we identify the meaning of Servo, rego etc

    • -1

It depends on which definition you are using. For example, ‘tea’ can mean the dried plant camellia sinensis, one of many other plants, or a cup of hot water infused with either. To determine which definition is being used will require the use of some brain power to ascertain context.

Same with ‘milk’. I hope this helps in your proper English journey.

  • Not a big fan of this, I think Oatly, Alternative Dairy and even So Good taste and work much better with the coffee.

  • NQR has these recently 3 for $2, 6 months expiry

  • +1

Still have a few unopened bottles in the cupboard and haven't touched them since I started drinking coffee without any milk :(

  • Not a fan of oat milk but these are insanely smooth and good without a strong unrefined nutty taste
