Are My Apple AirPods Pro 2 from Officeworks Genuine?

Hi guys, I bought these Apple AirPods Pro 2 from Officeworks last night because they were on a good deal. I haven’t opened them yet, and they're still sealed.

I'm unsure if they're genuine, grey import, or fake because:

  1. The box says 'For Malaysia,' but I thought Officeworks, as authorised resellers, only sold products officially distributed in Australia?

  2. The serial number and info are printed directly on the box, not on a sticker, unlike the iPad Air I bought from an Apple Store this year.

Here are the pics of the AirPods Pro 2 box:

I tried checking the serial number on the Apple website, but I keep seeing this message: 'We're sorry, but we're currently unable to validate your AirPods purchase date. Please make sure your AirPods are paired with your iPhone or iPad. Then please sign in with your Apple ID and update the date of purchase from your receipt.'

I don’t want to open them yet in case I need to return or exchange them.

I went for the same deal and haven't had any issues.
They show up in my Support account & have AppleCare+ successfully applied to them.

  • Take them into apple and see what they say ! If you have the time , or take them back and ask for a refund .

  • Can I ask why you would think a national respected chain would sell fakes? Apple won’t tell you those facts until they are activated?? Could be wrong. Also if they turned out to be fake, office works would swap out straight away if you can prove. You have nothing to worry about. Open them. They are good ear pods

If you try to return fakes to OW, they will probably think you are trying to scam them.

      • Yea I get that. But if you are worried about fakes buying them at office works. Open them there in front of them. Can’t really scam them then. They also have ways of investigating! Officeworks would want to know where the fake supply were coming from.

If they are fake it’s probably because someone has already scammed them. Someone probably bought genuine ones and returned fakes. Now someone else buys the fakes how can they prove they aren’t the ones doing the scamming. Yes, if the serial is on the receipt it is probably a bit easier to return.

          • @djsweet: Never thought about it like that. Bloody scammers ay

If you buy them in store directly (i.e. not C&C), the product serial number is usually recorded on the paper and digital receipts.

Got mine from Amazon yesterday and they have the same box markings as yours. They’re fine, go ahead and use your AirPods

    The box says 'For Malaysia,'

A brand new iPad Pro I bought from Wireless1 (during Afterpay Day promo) had the same kinds of marking.
Apple Support confirmed it was AU stock.

OMG, my Cadbury chocolate has for Australia and for New Zealand on the wrapper.

    Blame Officeworks I guess,

I got mine today from JB-HIFI and the box is same as yours. The product is fine, so don't worry about it.

  • I wonder if they keep a record of whether a product has been returned before ,
so there would be some credibility to that story if it happened to happen that way .
