        Turbo heels

I need that gif of the guy walking his dogs, stopping to put his crocs into race mode (flipping down the straps) and then racing them.

        • Supercharged

  • +2

I like these more than the normal ones, the adjustable heel means it actually fits properly

Cheers OP. Got a black pair. Too bad they don't have orange

    • +3

      Black is the new orange?

  • +4

Just got a pair for $8 from Woolies yesterday. Don't know what's so special about cros, so didn't want to spend $50 on them for my first pair.

  • +1

    Can these effectively replace thongs?

    • +4

Yes except for the thrills of plug rips and stubbed toes.

    • yes, you flip the heel strap forwards (or take it off) and wear them exactly as you would thongs

    • Just because you can doesn't mean you should

    • Thanks all. Bought.

    • i find that in the wet i prefer thongs, dont like the water pooling around feet like with crocs

  • got similar from Skechers for $19, happy with quality
    https://www.skechers.com.au/shop/men/foamies

    • $15 shipping kills it.

  • But can they hide a body?

  • +2

Everyone that knocks these have never worn them. Great deal. Bought a black pair

    • +3

I have worn them, they are incredibly comfortable. We buy them for the kids.

But I still knock them for looking like trailer trash shit for anyone older than a kid (and I say this as someone whose main pair of shoes cost about $15).

      • They’re my go to Dad shoe now

        • If they make me look like trailor trash I like them even more tbh.

  • +1

I never thought a pair of shoes could trigger me. Then this deal came along…

  • +2

i stop buying genuin crocs since my last pair shrunk under prolonged sunshine and became extremely rigid, also 2 sizes smaller after the sun bath.

Older crocs doesn't have that problem. But also, the insane price jack(remember crocs was usually 30 ish dollars rrp and lots of promotion for as low as 15).

on the other hand, crocs knock-off from taobao offers cheaper but way better quality which is ridiculous (not that i recommend anyone to buy).

      Thanks covid

      • yes covid, but i dont see nike adi or any brand jacking up their price as much while offering worse quality.

        • Nike adi has always had an inflated rrp

Has anyone tried the $8 ones from Kmart? Is it mostly a $40 markup for the prestigious brand name? https://www.kmart.com.au/product/moulded-clogs-s166332/?sele…

    • +1

      @rvsure may be your guy

    • +1

I have from kmart and aldi. The biggest pain point common to all the knock offs is the strap breaks. The straps make the crocks style what they are. I also tried other cheap imported ones, one of those straps bruised the skin around the straps and was not soft at all.

In saying all this I have never purchased the crocs, so I have no idea if these are actually comfortable and premium or if it's just a brand markup. At $50 I'd rather keep replacing the $8 crocs, I can replace them 5 times and be on par with the Crocs. They all look hideous anyway. Kmart ones are good in every other aspect.

Never thought it would have applied to something as terrible as Crocs, but that's a perfect illustration of the Vimes Boot Theory

        • Well, I have seen reviews on the amazon deal that the crocs straps break at one month even. I have easily got 3 months in one pair of kmart straps which is good in every other way. At 5 pairs for $50 I can reasonbly get more than a year. I'd much rather take the risk of an $8 pair breaking off in a month over a $50 pair breaking off in a month. After all its not guranteed that these crocs are so superior to work without issue over a reasonable length of time. At least not the newly made ones anyway. So am not sure about t his theory being any good. If anything it highlights the enshittification of retail as well.

          • @zxcvb: You'd have to do something really hard to crocs to break a strap.

Don't get me wrong here- I hate the damn things and think they are the foot eqivalent of a Borat mankini. But they don't seem to be made of substandard materials (it's just foam, but it's remarkably durable and comfortable foam).

            • @rumblytangara: A number of reviews on the new ones complain about the very thing, you can check and reviews yourself. Many within a month.

I actually love how comfortable they are, use primarily when walking the dog a minimum of 3 kms every day. After discovering these I stopped wearing shoes, they were that comfortable the kmart ones. No need for the original crocs.

All of mine broke in normal usage, maybe the originals would break too if walked 3+ km every day.

They fit the need for me, A disposable $8 I can live with every few months instead of $50. YMMV.

    • +1

Yep, they are great, no issues with build quality, pretty comfortable too.
No idea why one would want to waste all that extra money buying official crocs, they are about a simple as footwear gets, it's not like paying extra for a qualiy pair of good year welted genuine leather handstitched boots or something.

      • +1

Thanks @lordezekiel and @zxcvb, I really appreciate your comments.

Not sure who negged my question? I'm genuinely wondering, and likely buying for the first time, so i'm not sure why I should spend 40 extra…

my biggest regret in life is not buying the sonic the hedgehog crocs

    • +3

I'm sad that I missed out on the Shrek crocs.

    • my biggest regret in life is not buying a million and fifty of these when they were on clearance and there were dozens available in my size and i only bought one. an absolutely disgraceful effort by me

For me buying crocs is like crossing the Rubicon. Like taking drugs, being unfaithful.
Like I know it will be good but can I live with myself?

    • +1

Have tried drugs but not adultery, so crocs suit my life choices. I'm not picking up chicks in my crocs.

I baulked at the price for years. But my two pairs are totally different to the cheap ones.

I have pink ones for cycling in and rare brown suede ones for good occasions.

Cross that river, i say. And check Amazon warehouse.

  • Do these tend to be true to size (vs say nike/adidas sneakers)?

    • I normally wear a size 10 in runners/sneakers and I got a size 9 when I bought in store. So I'd suggest getting a size down

    • No, I'm wearing Adidas UK 9.5 shoes at the moment and my Crocs are UK 8. I tried some on in a shopping centre first and would have been screwed if I didn't as I bought my Crocs from overseas.

    • If they're too big you can always leave them in the sun for a couple hours to shrink them.

Might be a couple months until theres decent sun tho.

  • +4

    Cheaper than a vasectomy

  • +1

Perfect. Will be great for when i'm woken from hibernation in 2505.

    • If that's the reference I think it is, brilliantly played. iirc that movie was the driving force behind Crocs.

  • I guess the big question is, do you wear your crocs in attack or defense mode?
