  1. Set up an Indian Apple ID using your AU mobile number to verify.

  2. Login into an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, using an Indian Apple ID by going to settings > Your name > Media and purchases.

  3. Buy Apple gift cards from Amazon India using your AU amazon account. Enter an Indian address (make sure indian address is selected) and use an international fee free card. Then load gift cards to your Apple ID.

  4. Open up NBA app and it will give you a prompt to subscribe with Indian pricing, without even logging into an account. You can also login into your existing NBA account/create a new NBA account before subscribing, if you prefer to use it on other devices.

  5. Choose a plan of your liking

                    @Pricebeat: I set up a new apple device and it had not transfer the sub to the account maybe because it was Australian or flagged but set up a new nba account and it asked to add the subscription.

        That old method of just buying via vpn in turkey no longer works as they blocked international credit cards. You need to do the work around using iOS like in this post

    After 2nd attempt managed to get Indian gift code but turns out the content is still geo-blocked.
    You need a VPN to watch from a browser or get geo-location turned on when watching in the app.
    Overall, it took me a few hours end to end including unblocking my Amazon account and a lot of back-and-forth with Indian support after it was flagged for suspicious behaviour when paying with Wise, so make your own call if few hours of your time are worth $110.

        Some random pre-season games, now today's tip-off games same thing. It's a PITA to make ExpressVPN to run on adnroid TV at the same time as the NBA app.
        Definitely can't watch on PC without VPN turned on.

            @Pootie Tang: I have it geo-blocked on every device I tried - MacBook, PC, iPad Air, Android TV. Both cellular and aussie broadband. ExpressVPN to Germany or France is the only way to watch. It's such a pain that I likely won't use it until playoffs.

              @zbone: That's super weird. Previously I heard you had to login the India VPN server then could disconnect. DM me if you want me to try troubleshoot it. Need your login but then you can change the password after if you so choose. Long term OzB - not here to grift

      thought this would be the case. Usually black friday they give pretty decent league pass discounts. I renewed sub on a premium acc last season in aus for around $80 which was worth it. gone are the days of using a VPN via argentina etc. for ~$20

      i found it's only geoblocked on web if you dont accept (or dont get prompted for) the accept cookies popop that happens when you go to watch.nba.com

      doesnt work on my work pc because they have it locked down somewhat and the prompt to accept cookies doesnt happen… then the geoblocked / out of country crap message happens

    Used my CC to buy the gift card, I didn't use Wise.
    Have set it up in the NBA App account that I have previously used via Argentina, didn't encounter any issues.

    Still works, on the gift card purchase on Amazon India I didn't need to put an Indian address I just put my cards billing and it never asked for anything else.

    The only issue I have found so far is that it only works on the apps, Android, iPhone. (my TV is Android so it works on there)

    When I try to use on the web it seems to be blocked. Nevermind it seems to work on web now

    Confirmed this works!! Passed my 7 days trial period and it deducted the money from my Apple account balance. I was using Turkey's subscription for the past 2 years, but this time I use the India Apple ID, didn't have Wise's acocunt so signed up for that, and create a new NBA account, then followed the steps thanks @Pricebeat, everything is good now!

    I can confirm this works for me. Have exceeded my 7 day trial period and was worried they will charge me with AU pricing under my saved credit card. I just checked my Indian Apple ID and it only has 1 rupee on it meaning my wallet amount of 2100 rupees had a deduction of 2099 rupees. No credit card charges on my NBA ID. Thanks @Pricebeat! It was a long process as I encountered the error 'Apple cannot create your APPLE ID at this time' during the Indian AppleID creation process. It eventually allowed me to create this account after a few days.

    So if anyone is interested on how I did it, here are the steps that worked for me:

    1. Created a new outlook/hotmail account on my laptop
    2. Created an Indian Apple ID on my laptop. Ensure the country is India. Enter your AU mobile to verify the apple ID.
    3. Bought 2100 Rupees Gift card via Amazon India logged in as my Amazon AU account. This is where I had to enter a random indian address to proceed.
    4. Used an iphone XS to login using the newly created Indian Apple ID via Settings
    5. Redeemed gift code to load the 2100 rupees into the Indian Apple ID. You can check this by going to App Store > Click on your account and you should see 'Credit: R 2100'
    6. Download NBA app on iphone XS. In my case, it's already installed and logged in as my NBA ID
    7. In the NBA app using the iphone, go sign up for a plan of your liking. In my case, I went with the premium. It should now give you the indian pricing (2099 Rupees), if not, please ensure you are logged into your Indian Apple ID on the iphone XS. This determines your location, which should be India
    8. Subscribed successfully but on a 7-day trial period
    9. Logged into my Smart TV (Hisense) and another iphone device using the NBA app and confirmed all subscribed successfully (premium)

      Did it work immediately during the 7-day trial period? I've gone to my subscription and I can see I'm on 7-day trial period and it will take out the 2099 rupee in 7 days. But I can't seem to get the games working right now. Or do you need to wait till the 7 day period is up.

      When I try and choose a game it comes up with:
      Playback error
      4-62-44: Application Token is missing

    Edit: Also seemed to work, just took some time. When into Turkey Apple ID through App Store on iPhone and added the gift cards and renewed subscription. Seems to be working fine.
