Good Handheld Vacuum for General House Cleaning - Budget $150

Hi all, I stay with 4 people in an apartment with no pets, I had a Dyson V8, but is broken due to the carelessness of my flatmates.

I am looking for a cheaper vacuum which will do the job for general cleaning, and I don't need to worry about who will be using it. My budget is around $150, give or take $20, expecting to be strong for at least 1.5 years. If anyone can suggest one, with their personal experience, it will be highly appreciated.

Thanks.

good, cheap, battery-powered - pick any two.

I have one of these. I use it very often. The attachments are a good addition.

get one from kmart. the corded ones are cheaper, better and tougher than the handheld ones at the same price.

I’m going to pick up the ozito 18v one - recent ozito convert myself after trialing their work light and heat gun in 18v

    • Is it good for carpets ??

      • Haven’t got mine yet, hoping for some random ozito discounts during Father’s Day promo. I also only have hardwood floor.

I’d say it should be fine, especially on the high power mode -

  • (1) Buy a dyson with a dead battery from market place.
    (2) buy a battery adapter e.g. dyson <—> ozito/makita/etc. From aliexpress for <$20 to go with what ever 18v battery device you have.

Try one of these from Kmart

A friend of mine had a vacuum head fail, so she picked up a quick replacement from Kmart. It was an earlier model like this

Surprisingly good for the money! I even bought one after my Electrolux died. It might not have as much suction power as a Dyson, but I don't see the point in spending all that extra money when this Kmart unit already does a great job. Both vacuums have been going well for about 3 years so far. You do have to empty it and make sure the filter is well cleared each time to get the most out of it.

I have also tried some of those tool brand workshop battery vacs such as the ozitos or the bosch on sites, and they are aren't much good to use comparatively. Better off trying the Kmart one. You can always return it if that model under performs, but it has 4.5 Stars out of 190 reviews so seems like it must be quite good.

  • I'm happy with my Dreame V11. The V10 is a bit closer to your budget - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/116045117004?_nkw=Dreame+T30+Cor…
