Shiraz grown on terra rossa soil in Coonawarra, from a 35 year old vineyard. 10 to 15 days on skins, a gentle pressing and then a year and a half in a mix of French and American oak barrels and hogsheads. Inky opaque maroon hue in a plush, generous and ripe style with florals and cassis. The palate sees the emergence of blackberries, mocha, blueberries and coffee beans with a flick of oak. Soft and supple in structure, with fine, silty tannins and very good length. For drinking over the next five to eight years. Really good value.

Deep magenta hue, the nose offers black fruits, leather, beefstock, cloves and mocha. There is balance throughout and a very long finish. Seamless and superbly constructed with satiny tannins. A very long and promising future awaits this classic Coonawarra Cabernet. So much to like here, enjoy it over the next decade. Did I mention what cracking value?

  Is "Unlabelled" just the same as "cleanskin" ?

  And isn't it illegal to sell alcohol without labels?

    It is not legal to sell or export wine without all mandatory items appearing on the packaging. Unlabelled bottles cannot be sold at retail to the public, but unbroken cartons of bottles can be sold if the mandatory information appears on the carton in an acceptable form.
