170

Was on the prowl for a small Demolition Hammer and came across this deal for the Full Boar FBDH-1012 Demolition Hammer on TKD's website for $169.15 which includes free delivery.
Bunnings sells it for $199 at the moment so if you're quick, you can pick it up for $152.15 with price beat. I picked one up from the Padstow store yesterday evening, there were about 5 left at around 8PM last night.

Demo’d two fully tiled bathrooms and a tiled kitchen floor with this. Didn’t skip a beat. Thoroughly recommended for the price! Just be prepared for some sore muscles!

  • Do Bunnings price beat TKD? TKD specifically won't price beat Bunnings.

    • Officially no, occasionally yes. Part of the same company but depends which store assistant you ask.

    • just managed to pick one up from Bunnings without any issue

    • Because TKD offer free delivery and Bunnings are also online now, they should honour it, know from experience 😉

Can't comment on this Full Boar product, but I did a demo of a bathroom (that had multiple layers of tiles and concrete) with the 1500W Ryobi SDS+ Rotary Hammer and thought it was a tremendous bit of kit for the price (RRP $179): https://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-1500w-sds-rotary-hammer-dr…

Detroit 1500W is half price — $99 at Total Tools at the moment:

Lighter and sds+ not sds max but has more power. Id probably go the detroit unless i was only going to use it to break up a slab or similar. The detroit can be used as a drill and hammer only. Looks like the one in the deal is hammer only, no drill.

I have the 1050w sds+ ryobi and its more than enough for pretty much anything.

Edit: i'd probably just get the ozito for the longer warranty https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-1500w-5j-rotary-hammer-dri…

    • Grabbed one. thanks!

  • They have some good prices on SDS drill bits too

  • As a newbie to this type of tool - what are the differences to look for between the Ryobi - Full Boar - Detroit expecially in terms of brand name/reliability, 1500W V10150W and 7kg V 5 kg specs? Which is the better value buy of the three? Ta

    • What are you wanting to do with it?

Destroy stuff or drill into concrete/ brick?

The most important number to look at is the energy per impact. e.g. Bunnings says this is 12 joules.
      (equivalent to dropping 1kg x 1.2m)
Cheaper rotary hammer drills might provide 5 joules.

If they don't say, it is probably crap. Or the seller has no clue. Ignore the "1500W" power numbers.

  • I bought the big Ozito SDS + so I didn't need to buy new bits and was very pleased with the power of it. This looks like good gear if you don't have bits already though
