Good deals to Peking (Beijing), thanks

  • Does China Southern transfer your luggage to the final destination? E.g: Sydney to Guangzhou to Hangzhou. Will it transfer your luggage till Hangzhou? If not, can we exit in Guangzhou as direct flight to Guangzhou is expensive.

From my experience, for Guangzhou, yes they would check your luggage through your destination if the next segment is also on CZ even it’s an overnight transfer (btw some of their discounted seat class even in economy provides free transfer hotel with some conditions obviously). I’m not sure whether Shenzhen is the same or not.

Be aware of skipping segments though, most of the airlines won’t honour any seats after the skipped segment, say if you skipped the CAN - HGH segment after arriving at CAN, and it’s a return ticket, your returning ticket won’t be valid any more.

You might be able to take advantage of multi-city booking.

Say if you start from Sydney, instead of direct return flights to Guangzhou (will cost $1,016, 9 Nov -16 Nov), book 9 Nov SYD-CAN, stay at Guangzhou for a week, 16 Nov CAN-HGH, stay at Hangzhou for a few hours, 16 Nov HGH-SZX/CAN-SYD for total of $730. It’s the same amount if you stay at Hangzhou for few hours or days, you might as well stay for a few days. In other words, you would pay $280 less compared to non-stop to Guangzhou and gained an extra stopover. Or $220 extra compared to 1-stop to Hangzhou but also gained an extra stopover.

Try it on Google flights and select multi-city.

I have visited China. People are friendly. They can't speak english, but they will try their best in helping you out. There all sorts of apps to translate.

    • There are a few knife attacks targetting American and Japanese, but in general if you traveling in big city it's safe.

  • How about us from Brisbane?
