8,000 Bonus Qantas Frequent Flyer Points When You Purchase 24 Bottles of Wine - Epiqure

80

Receive 8,000 bonus Qantas Frequent Flyer points when you purchase 24 bottles or more in a single transaction.

I recommend using the current valid 10% off coupon at: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/86085 and buying 2 x jacobs creek festive season 12 packs for a total of $270(total advertised value $751.76).

A cheap and quick way to pick up a total of 8810 QFF points (enough for a zone 1 one way classic award, or business upgrade).

** Offer ends 5 December 2012, but may be extended. While stocks last. Allow up to 6 weeks for points to appear in your Qantas Frequent Flyer account.**

  • Thanks for the link to the 10% off which i had missed when posted. Agreed the festive season dozen is great value.

  • Note that the 10% offer states that it is not to be used in conjunction with any other offer. This may void the bonus points.

    • Mine seemed to work fine - 10% discount applied at checkout, and bonus point offer doesn't have any disclaimer stating it's not valid with another offer. Fine print on Qantas email simply statesL "# Receive 8,000 bonus points when you purchase 24 bottles or more in a single transaction. Offer ends 5 December 2012, but may be extended. While stocks last. Allow up to 6 weeks for points to appear in your Qantas Frequent Flyer account."

      • I tried out the 10% discount when buying the "Festive Season Mixed Dozen + free limited edition Jacobs Creek Shiraz" and it said it was invalid for the purchase… Any idea why?

Also, where did you see the 8000bonus point offer? I can't find it on the Epicure webpage. Thanks.

        • the 10% off code worked for me on the same order around 2pm yesterday. Check the spelling as I stuffed that first go. The 8000 points was in an email I got as well plus when going through the transaction a box popped up on screen saying that the 8000 points will not show on the invoice (the normal 3 times $'s does show) but will credit to my FF account within 6 weeks. I cannot recall if it was listed on the website as well though, sorry.

    • Confirming I've now received the 8,000 bonus points credited to my account - and I used the 10% off code.

  • QFF points keep getting more and more worthless. I'm now recommending everyone to switch to Singapore Orchard and others. You can get cheaper wine elsewhere. (There have been good deals at BWS/Dan Murphy's on OB)

Agreed that for most wines, Qantas comes out more expensive, however there are small number of very good exceptions to the rule, which make the occasional dozen woth buying. I'm pretty sure you won't find the $150 festive dozen (with bottle of Jacob's Creek 35th Anniversary Padthaway Shiraz 2005 thrown in) at a cheaper price elsewhere. Not sure I agree with you re QFF points getting more worthless - I think it depends on what you use them on (I use mine for JASAs and domestic upgrades - would never convert them to giftcards).

    • Point's are pretty worthless, in the thousands, but once you get to the hundred thousand it's a huge saving for upgrades etc, status credits is where it's at.

  • The biggest rule with wine is you always need to look around. Yes generally DM's are around the cheapest but not always. Pepperjack Shiraz and Cab Sav are $20.89 a bottle at DM's and $18 a bottle at Epiqure, and thats before the 10% off. And no i will not get into the parallel imports arguement as half the time i cannot figure out if it is or not until i get it home and see the sticker over the UK importer.

  • Agree that epicure aren't often good value, but for some of my favourite wines they've had some compelling offers for bonus bottles and points - delivery is also fast and the boxes are far stronger than your run of the mill naked/winemarket/gray's/cracka which makes them useful in the shed!

Remember that for QFF customers that 8k points is a domestic classic award leg (ex tax). Of course the best value spends of QFF are on flights/upgrades…

  • How exactly do you take advantage of this offer?
Did we need to receive an email? I just became a member today and haven't receive an email offering 8000 bonus points.

  • That 8,000 pts is worth $120 (according to a competition amex once ran, 1pt is worth 1.5c).

    • +1

People value points differently, but value depends on the redemption. Qantas is a pretty sub-par program, but for me points are nominally worth around 1.8c because I redeem for business class long-distance flights.

      • +1

exactly, no airline points have a fixed value for all redemptions

        • I needed a baseline and that was mine. It was a competition and they had to accurately (I assume) value the points. It's a bit less then what I'd get for a flight to where I want to go but as a rough guide it's been good.

        • I agree. As a rough guide, 1.5c is not bad.
I just hope people aren't using their points on MEL>SYD economy flights expecting that kind of value…

        • Yeah. Don't get tempted by the easy shinys. Go through the list. List what you actually want and aim for the best bang for your soul. :)

    • -2

To me 8000 points is only worth $50 - that's the value of gift cards you can redeem with that many points.

      • Poor value. International flight gets me 1.9c/point+.

        • -1

Yeah but think how much easier it is to spend gift cards. Also - you have to use Jetstar/Qantas for flights.. cheaper to shop around.

      • As mentioned, I would never burn QFF points on giftcards. 8,000 points will get you a one way domestic Melbourne - Sydney business upgrade from a red-e-deal purchased flight (for say $99). That's a saving of approx $500 from the applicable business fare price (possibly slightly less, in line with the domestic business sales that have been advertised recently).

        • +1

What if you aren't bothered with business class (which to be honest on domestic flights is pretty thin advantage)? $99 is often more than I pay on flights to start with.

        • It is perfectly reasonable to value QFF points at only 0.625c/point if you only see the value in getting giftcards. However, Yanman, you have to acknowledge the fact that giftcards are a very poor redemption options, in comparison to international business class flights where you get a value of over 2c/point.

I personally am quite happy to hear people say that choose to only use their points on giftcards… that means more flights available for the rest of us :)

  • Flights from where I live to Melbourne can often be gotten on specials for around $180 - $200. When my daughter recently had to book flights for here and her hubby for the next day they were more than 6 times that. At that point I figured my points are best saved for emergencies.

  • It's worth mentioning that if you're new to the program you're also given 2000 bonus points for your first dozen. I bought 2x Jacob's Creek mixed dozen and will ultimately get 10810 points. 2000 points were added to my FF immediately.

    • I saw that new members do get 2000 for the first dozen, and 8000 points once they reach 4 dozen (which I believe is cumulative)… but how do you know you will get 10,810 for 2 dozen? Where do you see the advertised 8000 points for this deal?

      • During the ordering process a popup stated that 24 bottles in a single transaction will give you 8000 points.

      • earn a bonus 2,000 points when you purchase your first 12 bottles of wine and a bonus 8,000 points when you purchase your first 48 bottles of wine within your first 12 months of membership
