  • I got $298.27 with code usage. How did you get it down to $285

    • It looks like they have updated the price

      • I checked yesterday and it was also $298. Must have been a very limited time discount.
Anyway with the $30 cash back it's almost as cheap as the lowest it went which was $250
$268 is a pretty decent price. I love my rp4pro

        • +1

yeah I have been looking for a retro for a long long time. just pulled the trigger

          • @Miata9: Congrats I hope you enjoy it.. it's a very powerful device for its size.. only the Odin 2 mini would be better for the size but is nearly double the cost

  • +1

Great device. Not as plug and play as the non-android based devices.
I had to load emu and roms myself, was just a “vanilla” android on boot.
After a bit of set up it’s my main retro device now.

    Oh I shouldn’t… or should I…

  • Zero regrets to get it in the last deal

  • Have a gut feeling that they are trying to get rid of them as new model is about to come out

    • +3

these retro consoles update fairly quickly, you can wait forever until you completely lost interest in retro games and save the money once and for all

    • +2

Even if they do, this can do ps2 so that covers most emulation available at the moment.

My only regret with mine is not getting one sooner, so much better than the countless other habdhelds i have from anbernic.

Definitely get a set of grips

    • What makes you think that? Common speculation is that the next Retroid device won't be an upgrade to the 4 Pro, but perhaps a new Flip device or upgrade to the 2s.

Though unless I'm mistaken, we have nothing tangible to go off.

  • +1

Very tempting, but decided on the Anbernic RG556. A bit less power for a way better screen and ergonomics.

  • -2

Anything with a large screen? 4.7 inches is pathetic.

    • -2

65" LG TV goes on sale frequently

  • Is this just wasting $300 that could be going towards a steam deck oled

    • +3

Not necessarily. This is much more portable so may still be worth owning even if you also grab a Steam Deck.

    • +2

I have a steam deck but its huge so i dont like taking with me on trips away from home. Would rather a more pocketable compact handheld

      • +2

I have a steam deck as well. Heavy as and too big to take with me when I'm travelling. Only good for using around the house

      • I have this and is not really pocketable despite the name. I would save more get a sdoled or ally x

        • Not pocketable?
It’s looks more than twice as big as a sdoled…

Maybe size is subject to the user?

      • Yeah this is the perfect travel device. I have a large handheld device collection, but this is the perfect mix between size and power, and so it is the device that comes with me on the road. if you're into retro games and you move around a lot, this beats the Deck.

  • +1

I hear a 4s is around the corner…mind you weaker than a 4pro but at a good price point.

  • Tempting…

  • This or a Backbone One for my S23 Ultra + install my own emulators and ROMs?

    • +2

I would not rely heavily on my phone in terms of gaming.

      • I'm guessing because of the additional stress it places on the battery, or is there another reason why?

        • Yes my phone is always busy with work emails, messages and battery stress, all of them are disruptive to my gaming experience

          • @Miata9: That's fair enough! In my case I'd turn on a custom Gaming Mode, which enables Do Not Disturb, with some exceptions.

    • If you have a spare older phone with the snapdragon 8 series get the backbone. If you don't get the retroid
