At first I thought it was 7x 14.5" OLED Laptops for that price

      haha I wish.

The best thing about CoPilot+ PC's is all the data harvesting.

    • What more data harvesting does it have over a normal x86 based PC running Windows? Recall was pulled.

These laptops are still overpriced for the specifications, in addition to still having compatibility issues with a lot existing x86 software and hardware due to needing emulation.

    • These laptops are still overpriced for the specifications

How much should it cost? I feel the 2944x1840 OLED is driving the price up. At least it has 32GB RAM.

in addition to still having compatibility issues with a lot existing x86 software and hardware due to needing emulation.

I feel this is overblown. It really depends on each user's needs, but "standard everyday software" like Chrome/Edge/Firefox, MS Office, Zoom, Teams, all work fine. There will of course be users with specific software requirements which may not work, but I feel a typical consumer buying a laptop from The Good Guys would probably have basic software requirements.

We regularly get 16 GB OLED deals around $1200 from local retailers. 32GB OLED around $1200 from Aliexpress.

Essentially you'll have to justify an extra $1000 for either local warranty or 16 GB RAM.

          What exact models?

Imagine buying a $2.2k and finding out 60% apps do not work or a slow because they are not 'optimized'

    • ARM isn't for everyone, but 60% is a sweeping over-exaggeration - it depends on what people want to do on their laptops.

If someone wants to do office-type work (MS Office, Zoom/Teams) then watch YouTube after hours, browse websites, play some games, chat on WhatsApp, and have long battery life so they can do it all from a sofa, cafe, boardroom, or airplane seat - this would work great.

If someone wants to play AAA games or run anything more specific, then this probably isn't the best time atm. Hopefully anyone considering one would know to double-check software compatibility first.

I genuinely don't understand why people make this argument, it's not like anyone is getting a playable experience at 2944x1840 (which is higher than 1440p resolution) on a business-oriented "thin and light" machine regardless of what CPU architecture it is using.

Intel will be bringing out their Lunar Lake laptops in September which will be very interesting: 16GB or 32GB unified memory like Apple, with their new Battlemage GPU.

    • +4

Intel has lost the plot. It's gonna be very hard for them to catch up in the desktop/laptop sector.

      • +7

Their share price has tanked. They have mismanaged the RMA (Return) process on their Desktop CPU's for sure.
…….But if they can score a goal against TSMC with their next process node CPU 's, then things could look better.
        https://www.xda-developers.com/intel-roadmap-2025-explainer/

Personally, I think the biggest issue for the likes of Intel is the fact that their manufacturing technology is more expensive compared to TSMC.
Of course the weird thing is that Intel are using TSMC as a their manufactering partner for their new Lunar Lake CPU's

        • Hopefully they have the staff to actually run those fabs after they cut 15% of them.

    • +1

Lunar Lake's architecture is integrated memory. It is completely different from the unified memory architecture of Apple. This is due the current architecture of x86 of Intel. People need to read up on the leaks before claiming such things.

  • I just want a cheap surface pro 7 …

  • This is quite good deal, anyone care to share how’s Lenovo quality control? Also wonder if it has Thunderbolt ports? I have a Thunderbolt-only dock that does not work with USB.

Fyi they have been AUD 2097.90/2257.90 the 16GB/512GB and 32GB/1TB model since release. Direct from Lenovo Pro store (free to join)

I found this for 30% off using this code: CPNLENOVO on the Lenovo site which took it down to around $2090.
