What Case Is Everyone Getting for Their Google Pixel 9 Pro XL?

Pretty stoked to pick up the phone next week and was wondering what cases were people considering?

I've always felt jealous of magsafe on apple so may go for a mouse. Then you have dbrand with the grip and skins. Or i could just get a $10 case from eBay and not think about it for 5 years like what I've done for my OnePlus 8 Pro.

I got this one for now. I have a magnet mount in the car and didn't wanna stick a metal disc to the case I get, but also wanted to see the phone colour. Will do for now, maybe it'll go yellow and I'll replace it in a year

I use the case that God the engineers gave them. The same beautiful case as in all the adverts and demo videos.

Did uses add-on clear TPU cases for years, but came to the realisation that a plastic case on a beautiful new phone is like putting clear plastic covers on your new lounge suite. Remember those? Were very popular with some immigrants, and I guess they work.
Ok, I did once crack the rear glass on a Motorola, but these phones are tougher. Gorilla glass. And the 9XL has stainless steel frame, not aluminium.
Why worry about a scratch or crack on the back when the case is even uglier? Resale value?

Bravo for treading the fine line between serious and satire- I could not tell which side of that line you stand on!

      • Well spotted. I'm still firmly on the fence about using a case or not :-)

  • quad lock, only case that works well with mounts

  • I had $230 store credit expiring in Sept. I just purchased Mous Magnetic Protective case, Case-Mate Glass screen protector and lens protector + Mous Magnetic card wallet. Might as well since it is expiring soon.

  • Cheap clear case and screen protector from Amazon.

  • Nice try Google employee trying to drum up some love for your latest piece of corporate tech…..

I like the Peak Design Mobile Everyday Loop Case. It's the closest thing to the OG material Pixel cases except with a magnetic clip in mounting system that works really well. I find it more convenient that the Quadlock mounts, easier to clip in and clip out and sturdy on the MTB….. The loop is super convenient too.

  • I ordered these two, they're both magsafe and seems alright so I'll see how they go.

  • Quite interested in the Dbrand Grip Case. Haven't ordered yet, but it's currently the front runner.

  • Just bought a basic clear TPU case and screen protectors (includes lens protectors) from Amazon for now.

I've a history of dropping my phones and cracking the screen so sadly have to deal with cases/protectors. But who knows! Maybe the glass screens are heaps better now… still not risking it. I had an old Samsung Galaxy once and smashed the screen 3x in a year… with the amount i spent replacing the screen i probably could have gotten a new phone :(

  • I've tried a few different one but have settled on the Caseology Capella with Kickstand

Here are all that I've tried so far:

Caseology Nano Pop - Some cool two-tone colour schemes to choose from. Very grippy (they use little dots on the sides of the phone near the bottom), even the back material was decently grippy. Still not too bad coming out of the pocket. Plenty of screen lip for protection yet still worked well with gestures. More raised around the camera for extra protection there. Not very smudge/fingerprint prone on the back. Decided it was a bit on the bulky side and wanted something slimmer.

Mous thin case - Looks really good, feels nice and soft but distinctly lacks grip. Nice and thin, almost no lip around the edges = good for swiping/gestures, but also very little protection around the screen. Oil and smudge prone at the back. Barely raised around the camera. Returned it because it was more likely to slip out of my hands and if it did, the phone would suffer more damage.

Caseology Capella with Kickstand - Feels like it has more protection than the Mous, but less than the Nano Pop. Screen lip is there for front protection. Raised a bit around the camera, more than the Mous but less than the Nano Pop. Case is more rigid at the back and reveals the lovely colour of the phone, also a little more slippery at the back compared to the Nano Pop but still not as bad as the Mous. Clear back attracts oil and smudges. Still has grip on the sides near bottom of the phone. Back is more slippery than the Nano Pop but less slippery than the Mous thin case. Over all a bit less bulky than the Nano Pop while still offering decent protection. The metal kickstand feels fairly sturdy so would be really useful if you want to watch stuff on your phone on a flat surface. Kickstand folded up protrudes a fraction of a millimeter from the case itself, it's noticeable but not too uncomfortable
