Especially if it comes with cheese.

I went to buy a watch, and the man in the shop said ‘Analogue?’ I said ‘No, just a watch.'

Owned this for a few years, great watch. Would love to see the green map version this cheap at some point

If you pair the AE1200 with a good-looking (simple) silicone strap, you have one of the most versatile travel watches. I reckon my 5AV with it's brown-ish bronze coloured frame and currently on a leather strap even looks good enough to wear on a night out.

My AE1000's gathering dust though - it doesn't look unique enough for me to want to wear it specifically and it competes with my G-shocks on days when I want a chunky looking watch.

Do you have any links for silicone straps for the watch? I think it would look excellent on aftermarket straps but finding ones which have 18mm lugs but the body of the strap fits the width of the case would be difficult

EDIT: found notched 18mm straps on aliexpress

      • Link? 😬
I've had this watch for a while and band is pretty crap.

Vario Everyday in Singapore sell some great quality straps and adapters to fit Casio watches. More expensive than AE but the quality is top-notch.

      Photo?

  • Are there any watches like this with compass instead of the world map suitable for a 10yr old? Something as user-friendly as possible.

    • I'm not aware of any but you can buy a compass on Aliexpress or eBay that will go onto a watch strap like this.

      Or a keyring style here.

    • The strap idea may be your best bet. There’s a few watches with compasses (eg Casio twin sensor) but would be too big for a 10YO

For gym goers the Casio AE1300WH is worth getting as it's one of the few watches with a interval timer.

  • How much do these watches typically loose/gain over a week?

    • +1

      -/+ 0

      • Is there a place that can show me this over month/quarter/year?

        • +3

It's a digital watch. I think you're pretty safe here.

  • Weren't these watches like $30, 3 years ago? Inflation sucks.

    • +4

at least inflation didn't affect my salary. isn't that great that some things just stay the way they are

this inspires confidence and sense of stability

I wish this was ever on sale: https://amzn.asia/d/9XIEzvp

I bought the square version from Tokyo last year and I didn't know the round one existed. Otherwise I would have looked for it 😢
