I am 99 convinced these are brand new or untouched by customer at least in order to undercut their own retailers/resellers

My seconds unit wasn't put together properly (they put the earcup foam on the wrong sides) and had some minor scratches.
When I got one from one of these refurbished deals it was brand new/sealed.
Refurbished goods typically go back through the normal packing process once they've gone through quality checks, or at least they do with some companies. Other companies' quality checks may only extend to opening a returned box, looking inside and saying "Yeah, she'll be right."
Bought a seconds TV…looked new to me…some marks on the box, but who cares. Bought a refurb camera…camera itself looked pretty much new, but the packaging was like a 5 year old had opened it all up and tried packing it all back away - certainly not suitable for gifting as new, but I bought it for me so meh.
YMMV. I don't think Sony refurbs are like Apple…I get the impression there is no consistency.
Maybe another $5 off with the TopCash deal ($5 cashback for anything over $40).

Sony WF1000XM5B Black/Silver $206. Personally I'd prefer Airpods Pro 2 over the WF1000XM5 for fit and sound (I have both) but it could be subjective and at this price, it's worth a try.
Which is better for call quality in your opinion?
The Soundguys think XM5 is better.
For me using them with iPhone, Airpods Pro 2 seems to switch from music to call pick up quicker and sounds better, and music does not sound too bassy.

The pair of Silver Seconds WH1000XM5's I bought from them a couple of months ago was faulty in the left earcup - some kind of issue with the ANC with a constant crackling/hissing noise and they were unusable. A shame because I had to buy a brand new pair for an extra ~$100 from officeworks instead, but I wasn't able to wait for delivery of a replacement.
My experience with Sony eBay customer service was excellent though, I got a full refund a few days after they organised a delivery company to pickup/collect the headphones to be sent back to their logistics centre in NSW. So I'd be comfortable purchasing from them again as long as I wasn't in a rush.
Still waiting for the XM6, why haven't they even been announced yet…

Just received mine. Definitely a refurb. I think those of you who got it in a sealed box got lucky.
Mine came in a blank box with no documentation. They also have a really weird and unpleasant smell… Kinda regretting going the refurb/seconds option.It seems like there is a mix of both good and bad experiences from buying these.
For me, I'm really happy with what I got.
It definitely was a refurbished unit, but it came in the original box with all the normal documentation.

I would have thought seconds refers to new items that for some reason can’t be sold as new. But refurbished implies they have been in the customers hands.
