    Great phone for anyone wondering.

    • +40

You should watch what you say.

  • +1

How does it compare to the samsung watch 4 44mm

    • Much better battery.

Alao has trackback feature, which is helpful when youre hiking. Can also use gpx files.

Other than that, it's a tank. No scratches on my screen.

A bit slow/laggy when compared to the 6 and 7

  • Overseas model? No NFC?

    • +2

High chance of being local stock since it's 'Sold and delivered by Catch'

  • Is this the lowest so far for Watch5 Pro? If it is, might be a better deal instead of waiting for 6 Classic to drop in price?

    • +1

The watch5 pro has better battery.

But its a bit laggy compared to the 6.

Hard to predict if the 6 classic will drop. But this is a good price for the 5 pro.

      • +1

Really? I owned a watch 5 pro (now a watch ultra) and never found it to really be *laggy", in saying that the ultra is definitely snappier.

Also, watch 5 pro/6 classic have the exact same processor/ram, so they should perform exactly the same.

        • +1

Less snappier means a bit laggier.

I had the 5 pro and now the 6 classic. The 6 classic is snappier than the 5 pro.

Played around with an ultra and they were snappier than the 6 classic. But not a big difference. Way snappier than the 5 pro though.

Even though they are the same processor, I'd imagine it's an optimisation issue. Maybe it's juat my unit, but that was my experience and seems to be others too.

          • +1

@mbck: Yeah I guess you could call it that… But yeah being the exact same hardware (performance wise) I wouldn't expect any difference between the 4/5/6 watches really. Either way, the 5 pro was more than fine for a watch, it's not like a phone where you are writing posts on ozbargain and browsing the web.

            • @Binchicken22: Hahah you'd think so! But there are very picky people out there. Hence why I thought I'd mention it.

It is still very much a relevant and up to date device. It'll be getting the whole body energy thing in an update too. And at this price….

  • Seems like Greg import.

    • +4

The model number indicates it's an Aus stock.

      • -1

I doubt it Kogan has the same model number and under warranty it says,

'This product is sold by a third-party seller and they are responsible for their product, the content of their listing and any exchanges of return of their product.
All products sold by third-parties are subject to the Kogan Guarantee.'

    • +4

Higher chance of being local stock since it's 'Sold and delivered by Catch' (and not sold by a Third Party/Overseas Seller)

  • I think it's a good deal. I had one and downgraded to Watch 4 Classic, but at this price keen to go back. Hopefully the Ultra watch will be on sale soon.

  • I have this and I'm not a big fan. The stock deployant band has a very ugly wrist gap, and the magnetic clasp comes lose with the slightest of snags. The only pro for me is the fine band adjustments and good battery life.

    • So if you changed the band all of your cons would be gone?

      • +1

It would also remove one of the pros.

  • +12

I have one and love it. Battery lasts 3+ days with screen always on( except during sleep). Has BP ,ECG ,stress functions too. Has hard falls detection too but I don't trust that (had a fall with multiple fractures and dislocation and it didn't activate).
Was tempted to upgrade to the newest ultra but it only has the same battery and is LTE meaning it will use more battery.
Use it in the surf without any problems too. Watchband very comfortable too. Charges fairly fast too.

    • +2

Word of warning, BP and ECG (and other?) features are Samsung locked and will not work with other brand phones. However, Dante63 has an SHM hack which can get them to function with some work.

      • Good to know. Luckily didn't pull the trigger.

  • For my use case of hiking, basic activity tracking and sleep tracking is the Garmin 255 worth double the price?

  • JB HiFi doesn't price match Catch?
    Correct me if I'm wrong

  • +2

At this price seems worth getting, hopefully better than my Huawei GT 2 which I've had for a few years.
Was looking for a watch with NFC and ECG and decent battery life.
Battery won't match the Huawei but hopefully makes up for it in other areas.

  • +3

Great watch - just traded in mine for the new Ultra. Was perfectly happy with it including it's fantastic battery life. The Ultra is nice though being noticeably faster and more responsive.

    • Does the ultra feel huge on the wrist compared to the Watch 5 pro?

I have the 47mm Watch 6 classic, and despite always wanting a bigger screen, the watch feels too big. Eg. Hard to expose the screen from under the sleeve, so half the time just turn to the phone when messages come in.

      • A bit bigger yes, but not an issue for me. I'm about 180cm tall so I guess I have decent size wrists.

  • Is it grey stock? Or Australian Stock??. Anyone bought this yet from catch??

  • +1

Great price, bought the lte version from market place for $200. Happy customer

  • bought one but felt it was 'too heavy' so i went back to the watch4 classic…. great price though!

    • +1

The Watch 5 Pro weighs 46.5 grams and comes in just one size: 45mm. The Watch 4 Classic comes in 42mm or 46mm sizes, weighing in at 46.5 grams and 52 grams, respectively.

I blame the bulky look, as its actually thinner and lighter than 4 classic models

      • shocked if officially the gw4 classic 46mm is heavier…

on the wrist the pro5 felt heavier… def bulkier
oh well good for those who got the deal…

  • +1

I have my classic 6 47mm LTE free from that epic S24U preorder, and I had a GW5P LTE before it

and oh boy do I miss that longer battery life! it was quite noticeable. these days however I wear wrist wraps at the gym, so I can't use the watch to measure performance and gym time is when it stays at home and charges, so it's ok. but man, GW5P was superb in this department

also, GW6C is noticeably heavier with stainless steel case as opposed to titanium on GW5P

I thought about getting this again, but no. despite all of the above, bezel is more important to me. being able to breeze through the notifications, or to go through longer screens (sleep analysis, weather report) is too convenient. on GW5P I was swiping on the screen all the time for this, and had to clean it way too often, also it's not as convenient.

come on Samsung every smart watch needs a crown or a bezel, some sort of rotating control. not that virtual bezels on non-classic watches, I could never get those to work, and they get the screen smudges all the time.

  • Price @ $379 for me

  • Showing $379 , what am i missing?

    • Expired deal

  • Didnt last long

  • Received mine, delivery these days are fast! Less than 14 hours since I ordered.

But sadly this is a grey. Packaging looks like a Taiwan stock. Any down side to grey import watch? Will things like google pay / samsung pay still work?

    • That's disappointing. I'm still waiting on mine.
If Samsung Pay doesn't work, see if you can change the CSC. I'm pretty sure the generic Australian code is XSA.

    • +1

This thread might provide some related info as well.
I'm surprised it wasn't local stock since it was sold and shipped by Catch themselves.

      • +2

I wasn't expecting overseas stock either, but I can live with it since price was good. Though now I am starting to doubt if it is even brand new.

        1. The battery is flat out of the box, like flat flat. Had to charge 30 mins before it hits 15%. My previous watch 4 / smartwatches purchase have never begun with super flat battery.

        2. When I turned it on, no welcome screen, and straight to watch tour. There was no usual forcing you to download the wearable app on your phone before it lets you explore the watch.

        3. Everything is in Mandarin, took a bit of google translate to find where the factory reset is. Once reset, I was greeted with my more familiar welcome screen on a new samsung watch, and option to change language.

        4. The black stickers/seals that say "do not accept if broken" do not have any samsung marking, so could be anyone resealing it. There is a bit of sticker residue on the box too that look suspicious.

I'll wait for others to report back on their watch purchase, but contemplating a return now all things considered.

        • Did it come in a box like this video and the product box with a seal?

          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGrOPBkf44U

          • @captainmac: The inside black box yes, not the outer brown box (instead I got a giant catch brown box lol).

It has a black seal, but not the one with 'samsung' written on it like in the video.

The physical condition of the cable n the watch itself look kinda new, no obvious sign of previously used, but some oddities like I mentioned above might mean it is a refurb, or at best, someone has opened it up briefly to do something (e.g removed carrier apps??) and then resealed everything. Just me wildly guessing given the state of watch that I received.

        • I'd probably return in that condition; it sounds like a badly managed refurb. Battery health could be subpar depending on how long it was kept at 0%.

Really hoping everyone who purchased one in this deal doesn't get theirs in a similar state.

          • @Feelsbad: Yeah same, it could be just me being unlucky and received a dud.
I'm ok with the watch 5 pro, but a bit wary about the battery given I dont know how long it was left completely empty.
Please report back when you receive yours.

            • @richrichie: I got mine with all the above mentioned as true !! thinking should I return or not.
Edit: I can find the "Samsung" label with Do not acccept words under tthe current label.
              Model number is SM-R920NZKABRI (Thai)

              • @recpippu: I think it's Taiwan, which is not the same as Thai (Thailand).

      • +2

I've also just received mine, took a bit longer. Very disappointed at how deceiving Catch is and have let them know in a returns request.
        - It's definitely used as I have a scuff mark on the underside of the watch
        - Battery entirely dead
        - Needed to be factory reset to pair to my phone
        - Taiwan model# so it's also grey

        • Very disappointing.

          • +2

@Feelsbad: They approved it for a cash refund RMA but I've asked them for a partial refund as I think it works fine but not sure how long the battery is going to last me.

            • +1

@bbqandbargains: I might ask for the same if it works when I test it tonight. They haven't responded to my online enquiry about the model discrepancy yet since last night.

              • @posthex: It took them around 18 hours to respond and it was via the return/refund process on their website. I was already iffy about Catch and now this finally adds them to my shitlist of merchants to avoid.

                • +1

@bbqandbargains: Quick update - they agreed to a $100 partial refund. Happy with that!

                  • +1

@bbqandbargains: you tagged yourself @bbqandbargains but I think you meant to tag @posthex haha

I can confirm they also agreed to a $100 partial refund which makes it a great price!

    • Can you use Google wallet instead of Samsung pay won't work since it's WearOS?

  • Yep mine also arrived today and it also look like chinese stock.

    • Does it look used?

      • +3

I've not yet opened the box as I called support to enquire why I got the wrong model compared to the one that was advertised. They said they would pass onto returns and warranty and see if they can do an exchange for the correct model. Not holding out huge amount of hope, but the request is in, at least.

The box is neat and tidy enough, but that doesn't say much about the contents! Will report back on how the exchange/return goes/doesn't go.

edit Oops just seen you didn't ask that of me. I'm not the OP to your question, but my personal experience is above!

        • Update
Catch Warranty and Returns have agreed the exchange "if they have stock" otherwise a full refund. I suspect they will just say there's no stock of the particular (correct) model when they receive my Taiwanese model to the warehouse and give me a refund. What a PITA.

  • +1

Mine arrived just now - Model Number on the back is not the same as the listing….
Model Number received is SM-R920NZKABRI which at first glance on the googles looks like Chinese region.
    Very disappointing.

  • OP Can you please re-paste the original listing as it had all the wording of what model version it was from the original listing? Thanks.

    • +1

      Done.

      • +1

Many thanks. Might be useful for those wanting to take it up with Catch.
(I realised after I posted the request, it is possible to see the revised postings, so could still access the wording, but probably easier if it is still maintained for ease of access).
        Thanks again.

  • Same issues as above re: model number, condition of box, etc.

However, I seem to have both Samsung Pay and the health monitoring (BP/ECG) features that I understand vary region-by-region. That being the case, is there any downside to leaving the CSC unchanged? The 'easy' method (dialling '#272719434266344#' from the dialer on the watch) doesn't work, and I don't want to muck around with any more complicated method if it's not really necessary.

    • Have you added a card to Samsung pay/does it show up on the watch?

      • Yes, and yes.

    • +1

If everything works out of the box, I wouldn't bother changing CSC.

  • Another grey import received here.
    Model SM-R920NZKABRI
Won't open the box until I speak to Catch and see if I can get it exchanged for local stock.

    • Have you been able to do an exchange with Catch in the past for other items?

At this price I can probably deal with it being an import (provided all the functions work), but won't accept it if appears to be used or refurbished as others are reporting.

      • +1

No never tried before but have submitted an online request and got a case number.
I mentioned that the model number on the advertised listing doesn't match the model I received.

  • +1

Got mine, grey import like the rest with a sticker over the original parts of the sticker.

Looks new/in great condition tho, and the battery tests say its still healthy so i think im going to keep it.

    • Was battery level at 0% out of the box?

      • Yeah, pretty sure the samsung health thing would say if it was bad tho.

I cant find an app thatl give me an exact mAh count tho

        • What does your watch report the battery capacity as under the battery settings?

          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4iwUMbymQY

          • @captainmac: 590mAh, but im not sure if that value is computed or just hardcoded…

Theres usually android apps which will tell you more info but cant seem to install the usual ones on the watchos.

            • @dmateos: It def feels like these have been opend/repackaged or setup to some defuault lang or something but im not sure about used based on the condition mine has come in.

I had to do the same reset to get proper lang also

              • @dmateos: If you can please us know if the ECG and other functions work out of the box.

  • +1

Reporting in as well with mine.

Model: SM-R920NZKABRI (Taiwanese, grey import similar to others)
Battery: 590 mAh and status reports it is still in a great condition.

    Condition:
    - Black seals on box do not have Samsung marks
    - Watch looks as new, no scuffs or marks indicating it was used.
    - Received it flat and had to charge it for ~5 minutes to get it to turn on.
    - Immediately greeted with Mandarin watch interface and tour without initial setup (basically same impression as richrichie's comment), had to do a factory reset to pair the watch to my phone.
    - Samsung Pay, health monitoring (BP/ECG) works well.

As all features work for me I will keep it, but it is unfortunate that Catch wasn't transparent with their goods. Hope the others that get scuffed watches find a way to get it returned/refunded.

    • +1

I'm keeping mine too after testing the battery for ~24hrs however it should be noted that the battery capacity information is not a health indicator.

      • What's the best way to test the condition of the battery if you don't mind me asking?

  • +1

    Catch responded like this for my model discrepancy enquiry;
I'm sorry to know that you received a different item and not a local stock from us. I know how disappointing this is.

To assist you better, I will need to lodge a return request on your behalf. May I know if you would like me to request a store credit refund, cash refund or a replacement for the item?

    • Nice that they offered a replacement, although I wonder if they even keep any local stock at this point.

      • That was my next question to them, if they have local stock to replace it with, otherwise a partial refund if the watch functions and looks new.

        • +2

A partial refund would be a pretty good outcome.
Please let me know how you go.

  • Update: looks like my watch is a lemon.
It otherwise looks new and unused.
Not charging at all, tried 4 different chargers for more than 15 minutes on each and it won't turn on or show it's charging.

  • Only issue im having atm with mine is linking it to my google account

But thats because they treat google workspace/paying users worse than free users…..

Similar issue with fitbits since they merged them into google, doesnt work with gsuite/workspaces.

  • +1

Mine came packed like others. New condition, no marks scuffs or finger prints. Charges and works fine. I'll be keeping mine because I have my doubts for the discussed AU stock replacement or partial refund. My first and probably last purchase with Catch.

  • +2

Been using it for the past 2 days. I've had the same experience as everyone else. From reviews the watch takes a few days to learn your patterns and afterwards the watch should last 2-3 days on a charge. A little tedious that instead of installing the newest update you need to go through all the previous updates

  • +1

I am returning mine for an exchange, but I doubt they have an Aus model in stock and I will just end up getting refunded.

While it's a good value, it is significantly limited in potential resale value, as well as possible trade-in deal eligibility.

I will keep my Watch 4 Classic until I find a good deal on the Watch Ultra I guess.

    • I was offered the same. It will likely end in a refund so I probably won't.

Do Samsung Australia not accept imports for trade-ins?

      • Most likely. If you try go through Samsung trade-in process using the serial number, it will come up as invalid.

      • Actually, I've decided to keep it. Due to it's low price, I think it is worth it.

        • +1

Yeah that's my thought too. If it works, then it was still cheaper than current refurb prices.

But if there's any issues in the next few weeks, I'll probably refund it.

          • @Feelsbad: While still a good price, can't believe a big company like Catch is still doing these dodgy practices. At least Kogan makes it clear (usually) if it's an overseas stock. Wouldn't trust Catch again with their mobile or wearable sales if it's too good to be true.

            • @aveeno bb: Agreed. When I saw it was sold and delivered by Catch and not some dodgy marketplace seller, I wasn't expecting this situation.
I expect they've lost their goodwill with many who purchased from this.

  • +1

I'm waiting for Catch to respond to my refund request.
An automated email advised to wait up to 48hrs for a response.
Won't be buying anything from Catch anymore after this experience.

  • Update: look at what Catch wants now for the return, waste of my time;

So that we can process your return request we require a video of the reported issue, which clearly shows the fault you have complained about.

Please reply directly to this email at your earliest convenience with your video attached. You may use this link to upload the video….

Ensure you allow time for the video to upload fully and once uploaded, a link will be provided which you can copy and attach to this email.

Also, please provide the serial number of your product.
