Anyone found the texture of this has changed this year? Seems like it's no longer as heavy in cream & milk fat?

    • no

    • Should be pretty easy to confirm based on the ingredient and nutritional info I would have thought?

    • +1

      Yes.

    • Probably, all the Drumsticks and Maxibon are "ice confection" now not legally ice cream main ingredients are water, sugar, oil now, they own Connoisseur too.

Lots of other stuff from China or weird places. Corporate greed knows no bounds. Will be hard to get milk based ice cream eventually.

I posted this elsewhere earlier in the year, but as the ingredients have definitely changed it's worth posting here too. Coles and Woolworths have different images available of the tubs with previous and updated ingredients to help compare the difference.

My favourite used to be the Raspberry & White Chocolate but it's clearly tasted more plain than it did a few years ago. Comparing the two images below, you can see the "updated" ingredients list indicates half as much white chocolate as before (8% vs 4%) as well as "Raspberry Juice (4%)" vs "Constituted Raspberry Juice (2.1%)" and Cocoa Butter 2.6% vs now 1.3%.

For all tubs except possibly Vanilla, "Dairy Ingredients" is now first/most prevalent ingredient instead of Cream, and the minimum milk fat % for the tubs has dropped from 11-13.5% to 10%.

You can see a similar comparison with the Belgian Chocolate flavour:

      • Even with price increase, they cannot maintain the same ingredients … Normal price is rip off already …
It was $4 when half price long time ago …

      • Thank you, I bloody knew it.

  • d'oh no longer applicable in VIC from the title update

    • I removed VIC from the title, because I searched a number of the VIC stores listed as participating retailers in the VIC Market Day terms and conditions and none of them were advertising any market day catalogues.

    • Why would Dan Andrews do this?

      • -2

For christ's sake… Let it go already.

Must be crowded in there with Dan renting space in your head free of charge.

        • Touchy much? If a joke riles you up thiseasily you might want to do some self reflection.

          • -2

            @Hawk Tuah: Oh it’s a joke.

The cult of anti-Dan is not funny. It’s ridiculous and moronic.

But, yes, it riles me as much as ‘bikies’, ‘I’ll buy 10’, and ‘high yield investment’.

Neg me all you want I’ve seen what you cheer.😇

  • WatchNerd becomes a Connoisseur of Ice Cream :P ?

    What's your favourite Connoisseur, guys?

    • Enjoying the new Jam Doughnut one tbh.. 😅

  • Damn, i forgot and left an almost full litre of ice cream over night in the non-freezer section. It had reduced to almost 90% volume by morning, put it back in the freezer and it tastes good in a different way now.

    • sounds like you let the air out of the icecream - 90% air ? I'm 'shocked' !

      wait … re-read 'to … 90%' - so more like 10% air ? I'm no longer 'shocked' - more meh …

      • There is still some air, else it would be hard brick. I keep the fridge section at 2C so it wasnt that bad.

  • IGA are complete rubbish - IGA (Participating Stores Only) yeah ok ill go to each store to find out which one has it on special - fck that , your either going to have the special or not seriously…….

    • You know they are a franchise, right? Independent Grocers of Australia.

You can go to their site, put your postcode/s in and find a catalogue.

      • yep i do know they are a franchise and they still cant get there shit together…i can go to the site but that requires effort which i cant be bothered… either they do the special or dont as a whole….

      • Franchise should have the same promotions, same products and services nationwide … Otherwise use a different name, lol. This is what I don't like from IGA or other franchise businesses that don't have the same promotions nationwide.

    • Are you saying the link in the deal description with the list of IGA stores participating in this deal is unreliable?

(SA) Pasadena and Frewville Foodland in SA are currently doing these at $4 each until 20/08/24
They seem to have this special every 2 months or so as part of their catalogue specials

  • mmm - can't get enough of those Glucose Syrup (Wheat), Dextrose Monohydrate, Flavour, Vegetable Origin Emulsifier [471 (Soy)], Vegetable Gum (410), Colours (160b).

    • Milk is a main allergen for a lot of folks without them even knowing about it. It may be causing subtle side effects that people may not notice or blame milk for it. The rest of the ingredients are in really minute quantities though not preferable.

      • So it doesn’t make sense to drink the milk of another mammalian species. Milk in particular that is designed for young cows. Interesting. Hard to believe.

        • It does if you are not allergic. But it aint essential. No other species depend on milk after they grow up.
