It is with deep sadness that today we have to announce the closure of our Richmond Taproom.
Yet, another, brewery/taproom closure.

To be fair, a lot of it seems to due to be debt taken on during COVID when they effectively couldn't trade, given many of the smaller breweries didn't have any/enough sales through bottle shops etc.
Most of the recently closed brewers reported as profitable without that debt servicing.
Breweries that sold a lot of packaged beers actually did quite well during COVID. Those that predominantly relied on keg sales and/or had big expensive venues didn't do so well.
A bigger issue is:
- during covid the government allowed deferred excise payments, but are now asking for this money.
- cost of living means people aren't shelling out for expensive craft beer
Not like we have a history of beer consumption - as if a First Fleet convict brewed beer in the country
some got bought out by multinationals and owners became millionaires , some didn’t, similar model to tech start ups, get a following and hope you get bought out and retire rich ….problem with beer is that it’s an industrial process and others can make similar flavour if it’s popular but you hope your brand has enough following to become of value.
That's sad news
They need tax breaks or we are going to keep seeing these smaller breweries close. They can't compete with larger breweries, especially during a cost of living crisis.
Why not, every other company gets welfare

Loved the 440ml 4 packs. It's such a shame to pick up a 330ml can and do a double take at how small it feels. BB made some fantastic beer.
From what I saw, the prices weren't competitive, feel sad for the Workers though.
I think all products on sale is gone. All seems sold out.
It's what's in their taproom, not what is on the website.
