How to Use "OR" Function in Searches and Alerts in OzBargain?

Hello everyone, I tried searching this forum for a similar topic, but couldn't find anything, so my apologies if this was asked before.

In short, I have a few alerts for ubiquiti and Unifi, following this pattern:
ubiquiti option:titleonly type:ozbdeal
unifi option:titleonly type:ozbdeal

Now, because when someone posts a deal with both of these in the title, I get 2 alerts (as expected). I'd like to only be alerted once, and so I thought the most logical option here would be to set up a single alert with both options there, something along the lines of:

unifi OR ubiquiti option:titleonly type:ozbdeal

This, sadly, didn't work, as the "OR" didn't quite work the way I was expecting it to, and instead worked as if it weren't there, or as an "AND" if you will, by filtering only those with both words in the exact order.

Would it be possible to use this function, and if so, how?

Thank you all.

Comments

  • Boolean operators are supported by the search database engine but not yet supported by OzBargain search function itself. I'll take a look in getting it implemented.

    • Thank you very much, dear sir.
      It is very much appreciated!

      • Why don't you use "AND" ?

        • Because I want the filter to work with either (the OR function), and "AND" would mean it has to be both to be considered a match.

    • This would be much appreciated! Thanks!!

  • I find the subject and examples used spot on.

I received 2 email alerts for this thread because I also have saved alerts for unifi & ubiquiti. :-)
