@giovannip: Yeah sorry you missed it. I didn't buy it because I already bought an eversolo.

            • @HaydosK: Been waiting for a good 2nd hand deal on a dmp-a6. Got one for $850 on ebay….but then the seller dropped it when they were packing it :( (either that or they changed their mind haha)

              • @giovannip: 😯. Yeah thats the same model I got. That's really unfortunate but Im sure you will find one soon. It's really good but it just depends on what your use is

For a second I thought it’s for WinAmp!

    • one of the best mp3 player (software) 20 years ago LOL

  • Is it a decent Sonos Amp replacement?

    • +1

I mean it's not the same user experience but it's way more audiophile compared to the Sonos. Like there are way more services on wiim but you are missing out on Apple music if that's your thing. Apple music is hopeless though. It's easier to just rip the exclusives and keep them on roon lol. Also the wiim amp has eq, room calibration and other really cool things if you want that stuff.

  • Decent price

  • Got one recently at the back of all the positive reviews on YouTube and have been pretty happy with it. It’s hooked up to my TV, record player, mini sub and bookshelf speaker. I’m not an audiophile but it sounds better than my previous soundboard setup and I love the size. The app is quite well done and it’s updated quite regularly so it feels like I’m always getting more features. I’m in an Apple eco system and I’m downgrading my homepod to a mini thanks to this system as it has AirPlay 2 and it somehow connects faster and more reliably than the HomePod. There’s a newer model that has an updated DAC and screen but I think this model is very good for its price, would buy again.

  • I have a Wiim Mini that works really well with my Yamaha A-S501 that only provides power to the USB when the optical mode is set.

    • How's the boot time for that set up?

      • +2

30 seconds? It's nothing major. Let me just check.

EDIT: Exactly 31 seconds from switching the amp on to streaming from a macbook over airplay.

  • How reliant on the app is the amp?

Unfortunately i have 2 amps now which are effectively useless for anything other than RCA connectivity due to online support/manufacturer support etc.. being shut down.

You get a remote to switch source and change volume and that’s it. There’s 1 volume knob on the unit itself and 4 LED light to indicate source and volume. Everything else is done via the app including EQ, room correction and just about every other setting. On the plus side the app is quite good and regularly updated (can only speak for iOS).

      • Thanks. No from me then. I'll just get a Rotel or similar entry and add a dongle

  • Anyone know how strictly they enforce using Afterpay for this deal? Item I'm looking at can't be fully covered with Afterpay. Looks like it's not going to stop me using other payment methods, but it's in the T&Cs.

  • Any feedback about running it with a subwoofer?

Thinking about plugging it to the tv with a couple of bookshelf speakers and a sub for movies etc.
