Citi PayAll Scheduled Transfers Questioned

I just got a phone call from NAB questioning the scheduled PayAll transactions that I set up with my Citi Prestige card when they were still free.

Anyone else been subjected to this?

I was asked by Citi once who I was sending the money to. It was for KYC questions I believe as one of my scheduled transactions was >$10,000.

  • What did you say?

There are more chances for receiving bank to question you.

I suspect they're trying to track down anyone who's transferring PayAll amounts to themselves to accrue points (perish the thought).

thats why we dont talk about it on public let alone ozb with this kind of statictics:

just like lord of the ring.. something we should not say

I mean if they didn't want it to happen they should've covered the loophole.

      • It is not a loophole so it cannot be fixed. By it's nature, it is just impossible to reliably get other banks account details. Remember, you only need the account number to send money to others.

  • Citi and bludgers, 2 different breeds. Got the boot to NAB.

  • So, will there be any actions from them depending on your answers?

Had a missed call from them today. Seems likely to be related.

  • NAB are on a massive KYC paranoia rampage at the moment. They are the subject of this ABC News article

They are going well beyond and way OTT of their supposed legislated requirements. I have taken them to AFCA over it because they're asking ridiculous questions that have already been answered 5 months ago and for which they've already verified all the answers and those answers are stored in the account holder profile, so they KNOW they've got the answers already!

As the radio interview in the news article says, this KYC claptrap is a noxious weed infesting the online banking world adding massive time, cost, confusion and annoyance for absolutely no gain whatsoever, because it does precisely nothing to stop or discourage fraud.

But is this the last month for free payall

  • No

    • Really… was it extended again

No. You could have set the scheme up to continue into the 2030's by future advancing the start date. If you did that when it was free to do so and you haven't altered anything since, then the payments continue on unchanged. If you didn't, then you're locked out now. It all depends on how clever you were in setting things up with a long vision into the future.

        • I was a little late to the party and missed it. I did read some peope were changing the date in their phone settings forcing the app to think it was in an earlier time if that makes sense, but that stopped working. I did get to take advantage of the payall for a while. All good things come to an end i guess

Hmm interesting. I haven't got any questions despite the max transfer every month. I'm actually paying off my CC from the same account so it's kind of obvious tbh…

Only managed to schedule mine until 2025, so will enjoy it while it lasts

    • I haven't paid for Coles groceries, Shell fuel and K-Mart/Liquorland/First Choice booze since July 2021. It'll be a bit of a shock when I have to go back to actually paying for food again with real money. My FlyBuys card has become my most used "credit card" by far. On my third card now having worn out the first two.
