Same price at Big W - use code XAUG2024 for an additional 10% off

    • +3

Will only work if you haven't used that code in August.

Clearing stock for the Wonderboom 4 (finally with USB-C Charging)

    • You'll need membership

  • +2

Can confirm this little guy sounds better than my JBL Charge 4.

    • +12

Yes, loud and good but micro USB.

      • +3

Don't know why you got down voted, that is definitely a consideration to be wary since most people here would only have USB-C or Lightning now.

        • +6

Maybe for some, but surely most people would have usb Chargers with the regular old

usb A female and still have a few usb A to micro usb floating around for the various small

rechargeable gear they had and most likely still sometimes use.

          • @ozhunter68: I have no problem with micro USB, just to let people know to consider.

            • +8

@superforever: Definitely, I wouldn’t buy anything micro USB at this stage. UE need to catch up with times.

            • +2

@superforever: Problem I have with micro usb is the ports frequently come loose for me, then I have charging/connection issues. Never had that problem yet with Usb-C. My BlueAnt Burleigh speaker which is great (I use it as a TV speaker) has micro usb which is now loose. Had to trial and error different cords till I found a 'thicker' one that would charge properly.

          • @ozhunter68: I have at least 20 micro usb cables lying around.

            • @itstuan: They're just waiting for their opportune moment.

            • -4

@itstuan: and now is a great chance to chuck them all in the bin

        • +2

Surely they could use the cable in the box though, regardless of what they own now.

          • @MasterScythe: Stop making sense.

            • @jackspratt: It's not so much having 20 Micro USB cables lying around at home or not - most of us on here would I'd guess. But that's not the issue, because you really don't use this at home. In my every day carry I have finally gotten to the point where I don't need to carry a separate Micros USB cable, so if I am out and throw this into my bag, I don't need to worry if I have the right cable or not.

      • I purchased this a few years ago. Even back then I was like WTF?

USB C was released in 2014.

        • Its an (idiotic) ecosystem thing. Like apple was with lightning.

Even their high end PC peripherals still used micro until last year.

They were going for a "1 cable for all your products from our brand" mindset, but it was stupid, lol.

          • @MasterScythe: Which 'high end PC peripherals still used micro until last year'?

My dislike for MicroUSB was cemented when my 5yo tried to plug in the cable upside down into a Lenovo tablet.

Destroyed an otherwise good tablet (for it's time).

            • @JimB: Things like the Logitech Pro X Superlight mouse, the G915 Lightspeed keyboard; Almost everything.

As i said, regarding the Logitech ecosystem, they're only just now beginning to move.

    • Cheers, comparison to JBL Charge was what I was after!

  • Up to 14 hours, how many hours at loud party volume?

    • +1

      Around 5 in my experience

      • -3

They can't be that powerful then.

  • +3

    Can link multiple together too

    • I just bought this as my second one!

  • +1

These have way more low rrequency response/ base than the regular Boom, similar to the Megaboom. Much better speaker.

  • Out of stock on Amazon for both types. Blue says in stock at Big W but it won't allow me to add it to cart 😞

    • Try again, I just submitted my order for the blue one on Amazon.

    • Both are back in stock as of 8:50pm AEST

      • +2

He probably lives regionally. Amazon have essentially stopped letting me purchase anything in my postcode as of about a week or so ago, and have heard the same from others living regionally. I can see these and add these to my cart when I sign out, but the moment I try to check out it says they won't ship this to my area. Same with virtually everything else now. Trying to get my Prime membership refunded today as it's now been changed to a useless service.

  • +1

One day too late for price matching and using the JB $20 voucher 😭

    • Price match and use a $10 perks voucher…

  • +2

Great price for a great speaker but yep, beware it’s Micro-USB. I have it and don’t find it be a big issue but it is one more cable type to carry/manage.

    • +2

I use magnetic cables and just leave the tip in there.

One cable for all, regardless of plug.

    • -4

Yep, it is a big issue with doubling-up of cables. Please stop buying microUSB products.

  • +1

i have this one and the UE Boom and can confirm this one has much better sound

  • Really good deal OP.

I have used mine for several years - cold winters in the garage whilst working on the car, painting inside the house, outside cleaning along with having dropped it accidentally a few times and it still holds a charge and has not skipped a beat.

  • +3

The v4 looks identical (happy to be corrected) but with USB-C. With price match and JB perks the v3 is 1/3 the price of the v4 so great value IMO.

      • +4

You don't have many problems in life eh?

        • -6

one less problem after getting rid of all the microUSB products and cables about 6 years ago .. gotta keep things simple

      • I hear you Matt (as an owner of one of these).

    • +2

Did they all stop working at the same time?

  • I can confirm this is an amazing speaker. I have 2. When paired in stereo it takes the sound to another level. Next upgrade would be the new beats pill in stereo. Anybody here have experience with them?

  • I have a Tribit Stormbox which is a great little speaker. Anyone know how this compares?

  • Thanks Op, purchased.

  • +5

Don't understand the micro usb hate. Just don't be a brute when plugging the charge cable in and you'll be good.

    • +1

Great for people that have perfect vision or wear glasses etc. permanently.

Hate having to find my glasses to plug this ancient connector in.

Love USB C and Lightning for this reason.

  • +3

Got this for 50 bucks using my unused 10$ off voucher (PICKUP10OFF) for Amazon Pickup.

    • Thanks. Used the code for pickup too

    • You're a superstar. I did the same.

  • Mine cuts off every 5 min for a few seconds, tried resetting with no luck. Dumped it with hard rubbish

  • Have this and can recommend, I’m no audiophile but it sounds great, looks great and has a great battery life. Got it during prime day last year when it was $59 briefly.

  • +1

wont deliver to me 50km from melb gpo Amazon is starting to really suck.

    • +1

Yeah what’s with that, I used to be able to get everything.
Recently they made a change and most things won’t be delivered too me. All my S&S’s I had for years got cancelled.

      • +1

Profit for Profits sake. Oh well at least we have Nuclear subs coming.

  • x

  • +3

Peeps need to chill about the micro usb jeez everyone has one laying around somewhere The battery life on these is sweet enough to not have to carry the burden of a 10g cord. We have 3 x UE wonderbooms, 2 x UE Booms and 1 x megaboom in my house and these are a kick a$$ little speaker especially when linked with party up. $chits all over the Boom.

  • Still available though for 15$ more. Still a good deal i reckon.

  • I just ordered through Woolies Everyday Market for the same price inc. shipping: https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/1074276204…

    • Interesting - it's sold out at Big W so I wonder if they can fulfill it.
Gave it a shot anyway - 15% cashback at Reward Gateway too so another $8 off

    • Yep cancelled.
