Does anyone know if Shoppers Protection can be used on positive card balance?
For example, $500 card limit preload with $2000 then purchase an item for $2500. If a cheaper price was found, say $1900, would I be able to claim the $600 difference?

Thanks for the info, much appreciated
You can bpay however much you want with as long as you are will to pay the $1.95 fee
True , do you know if the amount above the credit limit is still protected by the insurances? I kind of remember when people used to preload to use as an o/s with draw system it wasn’t protected…
Thank you for the info
Nah, preloading to withdraw cash hasn't been a thing since years ago. You used to be able to load up however much over your credit limit and withdraw it while overseas without it being treated as a cash advance. This meant fee free international withdrawals with a great exchange rate. That's now a distant memory.
Don't see why not if you can get it above your limit (I know 28D is a bit fiddly in that respec) - I've only got a $2k limit on my similar Coles CC and have frequently bought and claimed on items costing more than $2k.
Yeah, you can.
The company that handle the insurance are seperate from the company that handle the credit card. In fact, when putting through a claim, they rely on you to send them the credit card statement.
But, there are fees associated with BPAY. I think, like CodeXD said, that it's $1.95.
Hey op if you’re doing because the purchase is over the credit limit, why not just apply for increase then decrease it down the line?
It is a credit check for every increase/decrease
For decrease too?! Dayum - here I am going up and down and churning cards with not a care in the world
Only for an increase. No check is done when decreasing limits
The $8 per month fee is a bridge too far for me.
Thank you all for your replies. The $8 per month is a bit ordinary so I am still undecided as to whether to keep the card. It has saved me a few grand with Shoppers Protection but I haven't used it for a couple of years. Decisions, decisions. Cheers all.
Pretty sure preloading 28d has not been a thing since like 2017 - short of price protection claims that put you into a positive balance
