Most of us own a smart device these days that is capable of tracking walking stats. If you have set a daily walking goal—say, 7,500 steps—aside from the health benefits, what other behaviors have you changed as a result?

I always walk to KFC if I want to buy. KFC is just across the road :P only 200 m according to Google maps …
Me: trying every trick in the book to try and find free delivery kfc
Parking at Gerry's click and pick since it is closer than the disabled.
I got older
I just try to go 3 or 4 times a week. Though i will take any opportunity to do squats to strengthen my legs.
moved my fridge closer to my lounge, Im not lazy…just in power saving mode
In 2021 I attempted to do 8000 steps a day. With that motivation in mind I went outside and walked regardless of weather.
Unless it's absolutely coming down or extremely windy, you can walk in any weather comfortably.
It's easy to sit on the couch and scroll endlessly for hours and come up with excuses not to go outside.I still aim for 8k. Some afternoons it gets to 5pm and if I'm only 1-2k off I'll go for a quick walk just to hit it. Once the days are longer I'll fit in after dinner walks.
at about 9 pm im walking on the spot to get those extra 130 steps to reach my goal
Not interested in a step goal anymore.
I just make sure to get my heart rate elevated with some exercise every day (if possible). Sit-ups in the backyard. Walking up some stairs at the beach. Lifting some heavy bricks or pavers and putting them back down again. A combination of several things. Or just work on the garden for 2 hours.
… Set a Daily Walking Goal?
I did?
I did since March this year between 5-7 km a day haven't missed a day since feels good.
Meeting my neighbours. Pass by people often enough and the smiles, waves, and conversations happen. One nice lady even approached me as I was shopping in town to introduce herself, having recognised me from my walks.
Without walking, sadly there's very little reason nowadays to simply "be outside" in your community for these things to organically occur.
I stopped my step goal when I lost access to AIA Vitality :(
If you use an android phone, use Google Fit app for steps tracking. Need to put your phone in your front pant's pocket while walking if I remember the news. I don't know about Google Fit in iPhone. Even with the phone on your hand while walking, there are still steps tracked in Google Fit app.
Uncovering the map and covering it in flowers in Pikmin Bloom
Daily walking 7,500 steps is easy for me. But not easy to consistently pass 10k steps every day. I think most people don't even reach 5k steps daily …
revise Qantas Wellbeing goal at end of each day to maximise points
I live in regional NSW. My wife & I (both retirees) walk 1.5 Km to the local shops most days, purchase an SMH and then walk home. Good for our physical health, as well as our mental health. Overall takes around 1 hour daily. Between us, we have solved many of the world's problems during that time.
As part of a change of thinking, as well as walking/exercising more, gone carnivore. Best ever decision.
I have had a 10,000 step goal for about 8 years now. I’ve lost about 25kg, 100kg down to 75kg doing it plus healthy planned eating but still having a cheat day once a week. It was a slow process losing maybe 200-500 grams a week, I wasn't planning on losing weight it just started happening when people told me you look like you have lost weight then I checked. I have a lot more energy now and always work out ways I can extend my steps to reach the 10,000 mark. I used to walk around the house but found I was getting sore hips so I just make sure I go out if I need to get those last few thousand steps. I definitely do all of the 3 options particularly not taking short cuts and never aim for the closest park but it depends what is convenient at the time. I just use my phone to monitor steps – Pedometre step counter on my android device with the widget up on my front screen so I can regularly monitor.
Can eat more KFC without feeling bad
