Curious - OP what is your affiliation to GEEKOM?

You have knowledge about this deal (which has an OzBargain-specific discount code) however did not originally declare an affiliated status (this was later edited in by a Mod). Your post history shows that you also claim no affiliation with them in the past.

It would be good to know where you gained knowledge of this deal.

Definitely associated and probably getting a kickback.

Posted a separate code for iTWire.

      https://itwire.com/your-it-news/home-it/this-month-score-you…

      • Excluse you! I am neither associated nor getting a kickback!

Yes, I also posted a story on iTWire about the deal. I get several hundred news releases from various tech companies every week.

      • -1

they are telling you the code to list on this site, a code which seems to be specific to this site. .. why can't they have an account and do it themselves?

this seems like you are doing a task relevant to being an employee.
I agree the associated tag is appropriate.

        • I learned of a discount code and posted it! I can't answer for you why they do not have their own account, but to suggest I am an employee based on posting a deal is a long stretch.

I am not, and never have been, employed by GEEKOM and have never received any money from them, or any of their partners, ever. You will note I have posted a deal for one of their competitors only last month. I happened to be looking at Mini PCs.

      • It was wrong for the moderator to tag me as affiliated with GEEKOM.

Just to clear things up you WERE NOT tagged as affiliated or associated with GEEKOM. You were marked as associated with iTWire.

        as per:

I am a technology writer for iTWire, and have many thousands of stories there.

So per the last deal, GEEKOM A5 Mini PC $589 ($150 off), GEEKOM Air12 N100 $449 ($50 off) Delivered + More @ Geekom you were marked as associated with iTwire. Thus at quick glance, the same designation was put on this deal.

However, as you have no link or mention of your website, we can turn off your association tag. Having this on or off only affects posting limits of how often you can post deals with mentions of your website.

        Third Party Operators Guidelines

I've posted the deal here, as an independent person. I do not work for GEEKOM, and do not receive any payment or commission from GEEKOM. I merely passed on the information they gave me, for the benefit of OzBargain.

This is all quite semantic; if I were associated with GEEKOM I could answer questions about the products, adjust the deal, give info on people's shopping cart progress. I simply posted a deal I became aware of, and am a bit annoyed the mod wants to make out I am affiliated with it. I've even posted deals for a competing company in the past.

We definite association as well association, you don't need to be a customer service rep/technical rep but we do demand transparency. Read the store representee guidelines:

        Who is associated?
If you have any of these relationships with a store, you should be tagged as associated.

Friends/Family - you are associated with someone who works there or owns the business (friend, family member etc)
Employee - you work there as an employee or contractor but you're not part of sales & marketing nor do you represent the company.
Product Representative - you don't work for the store however you have some ownership of the product or brand. e.g. distributor, author of book
3rd Party Marketing - you have been incentivised to promote their products, or you work for a company hired by the store to promote their products or their online presence (including SEO)
Official Marketing - you are part of sales & marketing/advertising of the store itself
Official Store Representative - you represent the company and have authority to, say, make or withdraw offer and speak on behalf of the company.

        Cheers

        • Hi Neil,

Thanks for replying. I wish you'd spoken with me first, before editing the page, however. Or are you suggesting a bot did it based on prior posts? If not you directly then I apologise, but as you can see, it's quite exasperating to have a change made which is incorrect, and then be powerless to adjust it myself.

Let me note the edit did change it to say I was associated with GEEKOM and I edited it to change it to iTWire, because the only options I had to revert were to change the association, not remove it.

The last GEEKOM deal I posted was, rightly, associated with iTWire because the deal lead to an iTWire page, and offered iTWire-specific discount codes for iTWire readers.

This deal does not link to iTWire, nor have an iTWire code. It was direct to GEEKOM's website.

With respect to those relationships, I am not any - I am neither a friend nor family of anyone at GEEKOM, I am not an employee, I do not have any ownership or representation of the brand, I am not incentivised to promote their products, I do not work for a company hired by the store, I am not part of their sales and marketing, and nor do I have any official capacity. In fact, you'll note I previously also posted a deal for a competitor company.

I'm simply someone who got notice of a deal they offered and posted it, for the benefit of others, as an OzBargain user myself. I think it's clear my public history on the site shows a lot of involvement going back many years. With regards GEEKOM and this post, I receive zero incentive, zero payment, zero kickback, and have zero officiality.

I really do believe making this post associated with iTWire is wrong as its irrelevant in every way to the deal, and making it associated with GEEKOM is also wrong as I am no more associated with them than, say, Phylaxis is with Channel 7.

As per your comment "However, as you have no link or mention of your website we can turn off your association tag" - yes, please. Please do that. Thank you.

I appreciate your response, thank you, and am glad we can resolve this by removing the association tag.

          Regards,
          David W

amazon have a good deal on the beelink ser8 today as well, at $959.20.

    https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B0D5QF9FPW

Basically the same specs, cheaper and amazon warranty.

You sure about the mount? Robtech says it does not have a VESA mount. He also says it has no RAM cooling and throttles on long gaming sessions or hot days.

Pricing looks wrong in the title? I get $1,189 when I go to the site, the coupon code brings it down to $1,010.77.

The R7-7840HS model is $892. Which is a pretty decent price, considering there's basically no difference between the two CPUs, it's just the extra 1TB of storage.

    • Thanks for the fact-checking! My apologies for the error. I see a mod has adjusted the title now.
