  • this or Anker?

Anker is an overpriced product, I used them vs the Novoo brand, and it is definitely not worth the premium. I'll get this deal.

    • +17

      Which Anker?

Novoo is some random brand, I wouldn't trust them more than any other random brand without evidence of someone doing a teardown.

Anker has been around for literally decades and has a reputation to protect. There will be a price premium for the brand, which some people won't be willing to pay.

      • Anker if you don't mind the price difference

      • -5

Think of it like Tesla vs BYD

        • +8

Considering that BYD is one of the largest maker of cutting edge lithium battery packs in the world, I would't think of it like that.

Unless it turned out that Novoo is the OEM for Anker, Belkin, etc. Which I doubt.

          • @rumblytangara: As a mechanical fitter that installs and repairs production equipment I can confidently say its highly possible that Anker and Novoo, and any other brand can have their products, or a component of their products manufactured by the same company. The only difference is how much they pay said manufacture.
More money = more attention to detail, but not always. I recently repaired a machine that packs cake mixture, turns out the premium mixtures are the exact same as the budget, the only difference is the packaging and available flavours for each branding

@Captain Cheapskate: If be surprised if novoo stuff used the same parts as anker though.

There are zillions of off the shelf designs for chargers, unlikely they'd choose something that cost fifty cents or whatever extra for the same components and PCB design.

A good friend of mine is involved in production in Dongguan. The amount of dodgy shit that goes on there is astounding. I personally would not even expect the same models across years to have the same components inside them, the low cost manufacturers are constantly changing things around to save a fraction of a cent here or there.

      • Anker were founded in 2011

        • Fair enough. Seems like forever. iirc they might have started out as a competitor to companies like Belkin. But they're definitely considered reliable compared to most others.

  • +1

I've been using a different, slower, novoo brand charger for a couple of months with no hassle. I'd jump on this is I needed a faster one.

  • damn bought the ugreen 100w yesti with the really bad plug orientation hope i didnt make a mistake :(

    • +5

Ugreen stuff seems to be generally reliable.

    • +1

Cursing and still think you didn't make a mistake?

      • +1

        Bob’s cursing the doubt

  • Can only get discount on one ?

    • Yes, however you can make numerous orders and get the discounts.

  • Thanks bought one seems good price for Gan3 120watts with cables as well.

    • It seems cheap. Cheap chargers damage devices and cause fires.

It's fairly trivial to find a 200w charger for $30 too.

      • I wouldnt say its trivial. Esp if its really 200w

        • +1

30 second eBay search. Pretty trivial.

          https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/135127833723

Challenging the validity of the specs is exactly my point. Cheap chargers lie about all sorts, and cheap out on important design and components.

  • Couldn't find it on the link, but is the 100w from 20v at 5Amp?

    • -2

Back to front I would have thought, 20A and 5v since USB is always 5V

      • -1

No cables support that much. Usb normally 1.5A max with newer gens its higher but still below 5a max of all current cables for phone charging.

      • 20A will generate so much heat.

      • USB since QC (and now PD) have had variable voltages. It starts at 5V then both devices negotiate the voltage.. so it's backwards compatible to avoid frying 5V only devices

Increasing the current means you have to make cables thicker and thicker and copper is expensive

  • Any thoughts when comparing this with the lencent branded ones from Aliexpress? I am referring to the one in the below link, A bit expensive but comes with 3 USB-C ports. https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005007010041576.html?spm=a2g…

I reccommend asometech 260w for higher cost (60 to 75) or 140w asometech (around $37 ish)

I bring this particular charger with me when I travel overseas, which I've gone 3 times this year alone and is a lifesaver to have in your hand carry. Also ultra convenient due to the different travel pins it has.
Recommend to grab it, if you will use it anywhere you go particularly overseas holidays.

  • Considering the form factor, does this easily stay plugged into the wall with multiple cables connected to it?

  • -2

Is this include travel adapter plug?

  • +1

    Sold out.

  • Fire hazard?

  • +1

Got one, 120w for $38, can't go wrong with that price, but is it safe? we will wait and see

  • +1

I've been using a similar novoo charger and it's been pretty good, no issues to date
