YouTube Premium Lite $8.99/Month after Free One Month Trial @ YouTube

97

Not sure when this happened, but it looks like YouTube Premium Lite is available in Australia. First month free then $8.99 per month.

  • Limited Ads in YouTube videos
  • Limited ads in YouTube Kids
  • Work across devices
  • no offline download
  • no background play
  • No YouTube Music Premium

Maybe not a deal, but is way cheaper than the full Premium.
Time I gave Google some money for all the videos I've watched without ads due to ublock origin.

  • I ditched "premium" after they canceled my Indian sub— They unfortunately didn't expect me to google "android youtube adfree" and getting 216,000,000 solutions in about 0.20 seconds.

  • "Limited Ads"??
And no other benefits. Totally ridiculous.
Just give us no ads and all Premium benefits without the awful Youtube Music. It's not hard ffs.
uBlock it continues to be then.

Indian YouTube and Spotify best deal thanks to the hard workers of Ozbargins

Now just need Optus sports lol

  • Your YouTube Premium membership was canceled because we believe the signup country of Turkey was inaccurate.

    Anyone have any new methods?

    • If there's other country methods it will likely end up with the same result once they detect that you aren't from that country.

I guess these methods to try get around regional limitations to get cheap prices no longer works. Google must be cracking down on it. If you are an Australian they are wanting you to pay the Australian price or get nothing. A bit of a downer.

  • they increased the price in India as well ❤️‍🩹

    • Yeah ₹129/m to ₹149/m for a single plan. Still worth it to me. No way I'd pay full price or go for this useless Lite - need background play or are they encouraging me to have YouTube foregrounded on my car headunit?

Suspect with the incessant nagging to purchase more storage space on Gmail/Gdrive that Google are hemorrhaging.

  • I can't see YouTube Premium Lite at all… Did they discontinue it?

Got kicked off Premium Pakistan yesterday :(

    • Likewise got kicked this morning

  • Astonishingly poor value. Who would pay $9 and still have 'limited' ads, no background play, no offline downloads etc…

Don't know what you're paying for

What an incredibly poor deal. $9 a month to basically go back to what you got for free a year ago before the enshittification ramp up. I was paying $23 for family premium until then, and felt that it was OK, but a little marginal. The instant 40+% price bump got me to cancel immediately.

Brave browser on iPhone. Adblock on PC. Free. No ads. Listen in background. Happy me.

    • I just tried it on iPhone
Can’t seem to have it work as described
Any settings I should be looking into?

Or did you mean the playlist feature where the videos/ music have to be downloaded first?

      • Apologies for the delayed reply.

To continue playing YouTube videos in the background, make the video full screen. As it’s playing, swipe up from the bottom of the screen or press the Home button (if your iPhone has one). The video will shrink to a small window (picture-in-picture mode) that you can move around the screen and continue playing in the background.

Let me know how you go and if you have any issues! :)

  • Well, My Youtube Turkey premium's ending next month!
due to my payment method not being Turkish :-P

    what's the latest hot country?

I got an email notification today about the same thing, and am on the lookout for an alternative .

Paying for ads is not a deal

  • I am kicked out from Turkey.
Their calc on $32.99 family plan is $23.99 for music which is the same as Spotify + $9 removing ads.

Understand the logic but extremely expensive

I always thought Foxtel was a joke. $100 a month and you have to watch ads, Kayo is now the same. Amazon Prime does it also now. It really boggles the mind

    • No wonder people resorting to pirating again.
