Is the $20 off targeted? Don't have that for my account.

      • oh maybe, it's a $20 off $100+ spend, it's actually looks like a single use voucher (like the monthly $5 voucher)

Pricebeat this at officeworks to get 5% off. So $178.5

      • +5

I've tried that in the past and OW call centre staff denied saying they have been told by management to not match the price with Lucky Mobile. I was not so lucky there.

        • +1

Tried calling up just now, was like a 15min wait but yeah. Staff member said company said it has to do with the expiry date on the card so can't match Luckymobile.

          • @aastuff: Ow price beat for me on a deal luckymobile few weeks ago for boost .

        • +1

Best bet is in store. Worked for me a few weeks back.

        • +2

I went into my local officeworks last week and got this price matched.

          • @Pklz: Same. I did it today. Ow matched and beat by 5%

        • +1

Officeworks in Canberra did the price beat no problem. They even said a customer did same luckymobile beat yesterday.

Expiry on SIM pack is June 2025

      • Thanks

eBay Plus member also, all I've got is a $5 off the $205.75.

    • Few days ago, had a chat with Boost online, they offered to buy $230 from their website and once activated, they will refund $50 to me. Will activate tomorrow as my current plan expires tomorrow with amaysim and have chat with them for refund.

      • +7

Hope you have a copy of the chat.

        • yes, number got activated today, i have reference number and copy of chat. Their reps at times don't know what they are talking about though. I am waiting for the refund now.

        • Yea they screwed me last time I bought boost and didn't refund it. Said it didn't track. Never again

  • did a pricebeat at Officeworks yesterday at lucky mobiles price yesterday of $190. they pricebeat with no issues

    • -2

      Match price sim? What sorry?

      • +1

They said "price beat" (less 5%) hence got it for $178.50 at Officeworks.

        • I have tried online and instore for lucky mobile price beat, they refuse.

          • +1

@NPB: Literally got price beat at my local Officeworks today without an issue, BTW it's Vermont South VIC if anyone's curious

            • @willywolf: Thank You, i had chat with boost, they have agreed to refund $50 from my recharge. Actually i had bought a $230 sim from them online, They have processed $50 refund from the purchase.
I told them that the retailers are sellign $230 sim for like $170ish and they offered $50 refund once my plan is up and running, awaiting refund back as promised. I have case number with them.

            • @willywolf: Can you send your receipt from the Vermont south officeworks pls

    • +1

Hi, do you mind sharing the receipt (ie via PM)? My Officeworks are saying they cannot price match SIM cards.

      • this is not on their T&C. see from officeworks website below

oztechbiz….50cents more, longer Sim Expiry date 08-09-2025 ..excellent customer service…https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/860735

    • Sim expiry has been updated on the oztechbiz offer to 06-01-2025. No longer 08-09-2025.

      • Dann would’ve bought this if expiry was 8-9-2025!

        • likewise. was looking at one for this year, and the renew (port-out-in) in 12 months.
anyway, maybe more come available with the longer expiry!

          • @braddsey: The only issue is I believe with the new plans (new changes) coming soon, they won’t be selling this specific plan anymore so I suspect whatever sims will be sold now / until sold out and then no one will be able to sell this because it won’t be offered by boost anymore.

  • How does this work if I’m already on boost?

    • +3

You would need to port out, then port back in. A bit of hassle to make those savings.

      • and you risk the chance of delays or something stuffing up either in or out of the port and giving you a headache

        • +1

The port was pretty straight forward from boost or something else and then port back.

      • How long do you have to port out for normally?

        • +1

No time. I port back immediately after the port is successful.

      • Did that, and they recognized I was a past customer. Had to answer lots of questions to verify myself and proceed.

EDIT: Made me call them to verify again.

        • how long did you port out for? my boost is expiring soon

          • @viper8548: never had issues. once ported out, port back in.

    • +9

Like the others said would need to port to another provider and back in. Did this last year was lucky and ported out then back in within 20mins, used a $5 ALDI prepaid.

Wouldn't recommend with any $2 Sim packs, you'd either have to go in store or it forces you to add a recharge if you try online (at least the last times I tried with Telstra/Optus/Voda).

      • +4

This is the way. Made the $2 mistake before.

      • +2

Yeah I learnt the hard way with the $2 sim the boost number port over to Optus but wasn’t activated until you recharge lol… $12 recharge later ported back to boost sigh

      • I had no issues porting out with a $2 telstra sim 5-6 months ago.

  • I'm already in this plan, expiring in Feb 2025. If I were to buy this, would this work?

Provided I port out and port in before?

    • +1

Going by OP sim expiry is 06/01/2025.

So you would have to port out to another provider say 2nd of Jan and then port back to boost (to this sim) say 4th if Jan

      • Awesome! Thanks!

  • +1

The $230 for 12 months sim or recharge is being discontinued as of 22 Oct however if you buy it before then you can still redeem later at that value. Source is my current customer app popup FAQs. I hope this helps. Pasted below:

“I bought a SIM kit or voucher before 22 October 2024. Can I activate it after 22 October 2024?
Yes, you will be able to redeem all SIMs and vouchers purchased before 22 October 2024 for the value at which you purchased them.”

  • This is not very different from Boost Mobile website, as there is $40 Cashback on this plan, which will make it $190.

    • Few days ago, had a chat with Boost online, they offered to buy $230 from their website and once activated, they will refund $50 to me. Will activate tomorrow as my current plan expires tomorrow with amaysim and have chat with them for refund.

      • +1

They only offered me $30! For a recharge though

        • Not bad though.

    • +2

The "SIM must be activated within 30 days of ordering" clause for cashback is a bit of an issue though…

A lot of people buying these sims would be getting them to dodge the impending demise of this plan… (I'll be grabbing one soon to activate next April)

      • +2

@FLICKIT I'm in the same boat, but just be careful - this sim expires Jan 2025.

        • Maybe he was able to grab one of these earlier on in the deal when it had a much longer expiry date?

  • I have just started looking at these as my JB plan is expiring in a month…. This seems to stack up well vs previous deals, no (It's within a few dollars)? I notice it includes unlimited calls to the UK & USA? Is that correct? (Standard calls are mobile and landline?) Seems like a hell of a deal to me…

  • -2

    FYI
From 22 October 2024, 160GB yearly plan will no longer be available

  • @Lucky Mobile Is this a 5G sim?

    • Yes, if your phone is compatible, you can enjoy 5G using Boost Mobile

  • Thanks, this is just what my dad needed

  • does any1 know if boost starter pack expiry dates are strictly enforced? I got the older batch, too late to get this batch….

    • +1

I recently tried to activate a sim that was a couple of days past the exp date, the sim number wasn't recognised by their system…

      • any luck talking to support/live chat?

        • It was only a $30 sim that I basically got for free, so I didn't bother chasing it up…

  • +1

    Sorry - a bit slow
But I can buy this - no need to activate by 21/10, still get 160 GB as long as I activate the SIM by 6/1/2025 and its good for 365 days after ?
My current plan only ends in Dec and this is very attractive, TIA

    • +1

      Correct.

  • Got an email from the rep today, if anyone is wondering why they haven’t received their order yet…

Sorry for the delay of your order. The delivery of our stock was supposed to come yesterday but it's delayed until next Thursday. If you would like to wait, we will give you the tracking number today but ship your item next Friday once we receive the stock. If you want to cancel your order, we are happy to give you a full refund. Apologies for the inconvenience caused.

  • Has anyone used lucky mobile? did you get your order on time or just a scam?

    • I received mine from this deal last week and have bought from them in the past.

  • Any new stock coming?

    • yes we will receive new stock tomorrow.

  • absolute disgusting, 9 days and i didn't get it.

  • I ordered on the 15th and still don't have my order? beware

  • boost is great and all, but after having an esim on kogan on my phone as a backup line, im gonna switch my main boost to kogan, honesty there is no difference where i am, sometimes one lower bar but overall you cant tell the difference, so i don't see the point of paying a premium almost double for boost mobile vs 100-120 kogan small plan which is more than enough
