Where does it say the complementary Kogan First membership is only valid for 1 year?

‡Your complimentary FIRST membership is linked to the Primary Cardholder’s Kogan.com account. As the Primary Cardholder, your Kogan.com account will be set up upon approval of your application (if you don’t already have one). You will receive an email requesting that you activate your Kogan.com account and agree to the Kogan.com Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy. You can then register for Card Rewards (which will allow you to access your FIRST membership benefits, use your Card Rewards Points towards eligible purchases at Kogan.com, and pay for eligible purchases using a Fixed Payment Option when paying with your Kogan Money Credit Card). To register for Card Rewards, you will need to agree to the Shop with Card Reward Points terms and conditions and Pay using Fixed Payment Options at Kogan.com terms and conditions. You may only enrol one credit card at any time with Shop with Points. To then register for FIRST Membership, you will need to agree to the Kogan First Terms and Conditions. You will need to register for FIRST Membership within 40 days after your Kogan Money Credit Card is approved. Additional Cardholders are not eligible for complimentary FIRST Membership. FIRST Membership is administered by Kogan Australia Pty Ltd, and the complimentary FIRST membership benefit may be withdrawn or changed at any time. Note that free shipping, express shipping upgrades and exclusive specials are not available on all products on Kogan.com or Dick Smith. For further information on FIRST membership click here.

    • Thanks - I guess I misunderstood. Updated the title now !

Kogan First was free for the lifetime of the card when I applied for it last year.

    • +1

I still have Kogan First from a Rewards CC that I closed 3 years ago.

      • Thanks - updated the post

  • Yeap have Kogan First for life from 3-4 years ago.

0% interest on purchased as well for 9 months

    • That I understand is usually the case when you have a 0% balance transfer - it’s essentially the same thing, but it’s better to BT your full credit limit at the start to get max benefit. Otherwise you only get the interest free benefit for amounts spent each month.

      • That’s not my experience - usually the purchase rate is different.

Which is one way they make money off you - if you have a an active BT, the interest free grace period is 0 days. So they start charging you interest immediately (purchases only).

To make it worse, a few companies apply payments wrong. Legally, payments must apply to highest interest balances first. But a few screw this up and you need to tell them to refund the interest (assuming you paid the purchase off right after making it)

0% purchase + 0% BT rate is great and doesn’t have this catch.

      • I got BT offer on my Kogan credit card and was able to use it to 80% limit. They informed me that any retail purchase i perform now, until i have BT, will attract interests from purchase date rather than have interest free days. So i never used that remaining 20% on my card while BT was present

  • Thanks OP. Just applied

  • Got $500 credit last time I applied. Was good deal. It suck now because nolonger appliable for past card holder.

  • Has anyone tried applying and getting the benefits for a second time? I was a cardholder many many years ago when they first launched, but haven't held their card account for years.

    • If you have previously held a Kogan Money Credit Card, you will not be eligible for this offer.

      So probably not.

      • Yep I know the t&c are there, but was curious how they would actually track that anyway?

        • it's a fair comment, that was added to the T's and C's a couple of years ago, before then you could go and come back. I want to know too, I cancelled my card years ago but the only reason I would come back is for the $400. It might be the case they have only been counting who's had it since they came up with the policy, if someone could confirm?

  • Got this card for the BT and it was good. think it was 12 months last time.

  • You would really want to find something on Kogan.com that you need that’s worth $400 to make this worth it.

    • +1

Last time I got a Nintendo switch.. I think that was worthwhile.

Hoping I can do this a second time

      • Good timing for switch 2!

  • Will the Kogan credit expire?

    • +1

The Kogan.com Credit will be credited to your Kogan.com account up to 10 weeks after the end of the qualifying period, and will expire 12 months from the date it is applied.

  • what is switch week? is it because everyone is switching away from 28 degrees this week?

  • @Dealking if I was only an additional cardholder before and not a primary card holder, will the bonus still be applicable if I apply as primary?

    • +1

Good question - let me try to find out and report back.

    • +1

@Eugklng - my contact has confirmed that applying as primary will be eligible for the offer.
      Enjoy !

      • Thanks @Dealking for confirming.

  • What's not eligible for the $3k purchases required?

    • Please note, purchases must be processed and charged to your account within the spend period. Eligible purchases excludes Cash Advances, Balance Transfers, Special Promotions (for example, transfers to other accounts with a Fixed Payment Option), refunds and chargebacks, purchases of foreign currency and travellers cheques, transactions made in operating a business, payments to other Citi branded accounts, fees and charges such as interest and ATM charges, and transactions made using Rewards Points.

      • cool because sometimes they exclude utility bills

        • Doesn't appear so from the T&Cs. From what I read in the rewards points section, Bpay payments won't be included for their card reward points though.

  • What happens after the sunday? Will the $400 be reduced? Or no BT?

    • They had the $400 credit prior to June 30. That reduced to $200 or $250 until this week, for what it's worth.

  • Oh i had no idea it was a promo and thought it waslong running. I wanted to buy something on kogan and signed up last week. I received this today and made 3k in purchases and asked how long it'll take to get the credit. They said between November all the way to jan. I hope i get it as early as possible. Curious how long it took to pay out for other people that have signed up before?

    • Their T&C's stated up to 10 weeks after the qualifying period, which I assume is the full 3 months regardless of when you meet the criteria.

      • I've gone though some of the previous posts and it seems people were getting it 1.5 months after approval. Let's hope i get it soon!

        • I hope so too, waiting on it to pull the trigger on a few items

  • No support for Samsung pay.

    • +1

But works perfectly with google wallet

  • Is it possible to buy gift cards with Kogan credit?

    • +1

My initial guess is NO - but let me try to find out.
The credit appears as kogan credit, which in itself is like a Kogan gift card and can be applied to purchases.

  • Approval was very fast but Kogan didn't process my balance transfer request and is giving me the run around. When I asked about the bonus Kogan.com credit I was told it would come up to 10 weeks after the 90 day period ends, so almost 6 months later for the credit.

Based on my interactions with customer service I'll be cancelling this as soon as my Bendigo application comes through.

    • My Bendigo Ready CC shows no progress. Dont know why they are delaying while the others are instant approvals.

    • When I asked about the bonus Kogan.com credit I was told it would come up to 10 weeks after the 90 day period ends, so almost 6 months later for the credit.

      welp what the hell lol.
