  • stocked up on some, thanks

  • Should be ok for is250 Lexus but SCA says it's not compatible.

    • For technical information: Car Manual > SCA Compatibility

      • lol

    • Because it isn't. If your engine burns oil, as most of the 250s do, I would not use this oil.

      • What do you recommend?

Something with API SP, ILSAC GF-S and ACEA A3/B4 specs in 5w30. These are much more usual and on special all the time. E.g. ($53 at SCA right now) https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/856085
          Or from Nulon https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/859743

Or even an oil made for DPF diesels with ACEA C3 or C4, if your engine burns too much oil, to save the cats.
API SL is outdated and ACEA A5/B5 is just bad, it is meant for some rare cars, in this case Fords and Renaults.
The 10W40 is fine but its 10W40.

@fwhite: Thanks. I did notice the API SL spec and thought that it was quite odd to see it in this day and age.

BTW, don't trust the funnel that this comes with as is. Make yourself a little gasket to make sure it seals to the bottle if you want to use it.

yeah no shit. I knew it was going to happen but I thought, she'll be right I can do it.

      Everywhere…

Buy the $4 funnel at the end of the isle.

      • haha, that's what I thought too! I cut a spare toilet cistern rubber seating washer down to size and that worked fine.

Anyone with a motorbike, the 10w40 of this is identical specs as the motorbike specific version, but way way cheaper.

    • Hate it when the exact same stuff is branded differently… was it neurofen or panadol that got in trouble for marketing the same thing for headaches vs muscle pains vs period pain? Just to appear as if they're specifically targeting the different pains. It was exactly the same shit so why confuse ppl?

  • SCA says the 5W-30 is not compatible with my Aurion (GSV40). Is there anything in this that would make it unsuitable over other 5W-30s? (currently using enviro 5W-30)

Also, my mech recommended going 5W-40 or 10W-40 from this point on as the engine is a bit old (235,000km). I'm hesitant on that. Any case to consider that?

    Thanks!
