Netlfix Turkey Price Rise, Again

Just got an email from Netflix Turkey, my 4K sub is going from TL229.99 (March 2024 update) to TL299.99 from next billing cycle.

With Turkeys constant wild inflation, this is of no surprise.

I have had no issues with Turkey, I switched form credit card to gift cards at the start of the year.

Been sailing the high seas since Netflix did me a favour by cancelling my Turkish sub. Haven't looked back. Once upon a time, you only needed one streaming service. It was affordable enough to turn away from a life of crime (you wouldn't steal a car).

Nowadays it's 23476 movie services + audio books + music.

Oh well. A pirate's life for me.

real debrid is worth a look can stream bluray remuxes.

    • I'm not going to pay for something I can get for free unless the alternative is ad-free, fuss-free and convenient. So I pay for Spotify and pirate everything else.

      • The alternative to Spotify is free, ad-free and fuss-free so……

  • Netflix:

    Jimothy,

Choose from plans starting at just TL 149.99/month to get back to enjoying countless new TV shows and movies.

My brother in Christ, yalls kicked me out smh

    You mean Wild Turkey :p

Are there alternatives cheaper than Turkey and if so where?
(and what do I do with the leftover Cranberry sauce).

Streamio + Real Debrid= About $26AUD for half a year or so.

I prefer it due to the availability of shows/movies/documentaries from basically every single provider… but mostly due to the ability to chose exactly what quality to stream it at. Gone are the days of Netflix DRM (can't play 4K unless your CPU is XYZ, and your screen is XYZ, and your browser is XYZ, etc).

They're both totally legal by themselves, but I can't guarantee it when they're put together :P

+1 for Stremio + Real Debrid, especially for the library.

Companies have really shot themselves in the foot with all this greed causing content to be so segregated. They really forgot that people only moved on from sailing the seas due to convenience…

Still don't understand why people pay for pirated content.

        • +1

Same as why they pay (or paid) for Netflix - convenience.

          • +1

@ihfree: yeah, but pirated content is everywhere for free already

            • @Bruceflix: It was also everywhere in Netflix's prime. People are always going to choose an easy option balanced with price.

Many users don't want to deal with the difficulty of media streaming setups, VPNs, automation, etc.

  • The standard plan price is going up too, from 176.99 to 229.99

    disgusting

    Mobile 1 screen/ SD content Rs 149
    Basic 1 screen/ SD content Rs 199
    Standard 2 screens/ FHD content Rs 499

After they canned my Turkey account mid-month I decided no more money to them.

      • More money for Börek then… for the win….

  • It's funny because as time goes by my seedbox just gets cheaper to rent.

    • How much are you paying and with who?

      • +2

        15USD/month for a 4tb slot from Whatbox

  • $11 a year is pretty good still.
