  • Seems pretty pricey. I wonder how effective/convenient the cleaning station is… surely you would need to clean the cleaning station, kinda defeating the point.

The cleaning station top gets a bit dusty, not much issue there. The tank below and filter in there do get grimey over the course of a few weeks / month between refills, but it’s pretty easy and quick to clean. I bought refill sachets off Amazon for fairly cheap but will look to buy an off-brand bigger refill bottle next time.

      • Ohh it uses consumables to clean, even more of a no deal for me.

Don't rush to knock it though.

You name it I've owned every brand of electric shaver over my 51 years.

When I got a Panasonic I've never gone back to another brand.

Onto my 3rd one, but the second one is still going after I replaced the battery and my son now has it. The old base station USED to have disposable cartridges and was pretty crap (did the job when it worked but started failing after only a year), because they were pretty over engineered and of course you had to buy the cartridges, or clean the shaver manually.

The new ones are SUPER simple and you can use third party detergent or make your own. It contains some oils though to lubricate and keep the blades in good nick so you can't just pour Morning Fresh in the tub.

The latest ones are even better and my shaves are so good they're extremely comparable to a razer shave which I still do once a week.

Only thing is the heads on these things seems to keep getting bigger and bigger so not THE best for precision if you scape your facial hair but these are amazing shavers.

Discounting them because of their cleaning system (and you can always clean manually) is not something you should do in this case in my opinion.

@Ramrunner: Fair enough, doesn't sound too bad. However, I have a fairly new king gillette which I'm happy with. Also I have a beard lol.

@Bdawg: Yeah I have facial hair I keep as well and with the large head on these I have to angle and tilt a lot to scape. Not ideal. For someone who is fully clean shaven though I have to recommend it it's very, very good.

Spewing I paid $450 for it a couple of months back it's currently $299

But because of your beard I'd say this would be annoying for you. Thanks for the chat.

I bought this model last year and it has been fantastic. https://www.shavershop.com.au/panasonic/multi-flex-5-blade-e…

I can’t imagine needing any higher model than this, I’d rather save the $135.

    • This is a lot gentler on the skin which is very important for some people.

  • Good find! For most people would probably make more sense than my recently purchased Braun Series 9.

    • Braun series 7 worked better for me than the Panasonic but the stubble collector of the Braun would leak a stubbly snow cloud like a nuclear winter onto my clothes. I found that annoying.

      • Haven't noticed that with 9. But I don't tend to shave in my best tuxedo, I usually do it at home over a sink in front of a mirror. Must be a very unique setup.

  • I have coarse stubble and tried the Panasonic but found it not to be as good as Philips or Braun for me. I never use the cleaning station personally. Hasn't affected longevity or hygiene.

  • For people who want to give this a try; buy directly from ShaverShop as Panasonic doesn’t accept money back guarantee claims if you buy through eBay…
Having said that, I was wondering if ShaverShop gives a proper invoice when you buy through eBay? In that case there shouldn’t be any issues.

  • I have a 5-blade version, and it is very noisy. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

    • +1

Yes, louder than Ben Stiller catching the frank-n-beans! Suspect the Sydney would apply the same curfew to this razor as they do flights at Sydney Airport.

    • No, my ES-LF71 was amazingly quiet when I got it although I've just bought a ES-LV97 which is NOTICIBLY quieter.

Mine is currently on special for $299 on shaver shop WITH clean & charge station.

Can HIGHLY recommend it. ONLY negative feedback I can give is the head is quite big so if you need precision shaving around other facial hair it can be a bit tricky.

What model do you have? In general I've never found Panasonic to be particularly loud? My newest one is the quietest shaver I've had yet.

      • +1

I have the same ES-LV97, and it was extremely loud, almost like a chainsaw. I think the lubrication might be insufficient because I normally wash the head with water.

        • If it's under warranty I'd take it back.

Seriously happy to record a sound clip and send it to you - it's the quietest electric shaver I've owned yet. Granted, I do clean it properly with the base unit and the genuine lubricant/detergent (ES4L03), albeit from an Asian country where it's a lot cheaper.

Especially if it's been loud from the start.

  • My 2 Blade Pana is better than my 5 Blade.

So 6 means eff all to me now.

  • Loved my old Panasonic ESST29, bought it back in 2013 for $90, still going strong, never need to change the blace (too expensive). If it dies (ever) then my next one will be this brand as well.
