Bit of a niche but I've been looking for a small device to program common key combinations for work.
My desktop keyboard has custom programmable keys however my laptop does not. I've been searching online for a device that can help and this one looks good over most of the cheap ones on ebay.

There is a current 20% promo and free delivery via Amazon.

K11 is my favourite key. Shame it's missing here, as per picture 2.

Hey, are the shortcuts held on the device in memory, or does it require a companion app to be always running on the devices it connects to?

    • The manual says there are predefined keys without the driver as well but you need the software to customise

I built my own macro-pad that runs QMK/VIA which stores everything onboard. The main aim was to avoid work’s IT department by not having to install any software to use and customise the thing.
Worth looking into if you’re up for some tinkering although there are prebuilt options as well!

I just bought one last week, just missed this bargain. Yes unfortunately it needs a companion app.

    All the details are here:

    • Have you checked to see if the physical dial has an embedded button? There's no mention of it in the blurb, but maybe that's the "K11".

Edit- apologies, I worded that badly. I meant to say "customisable" instead of "embedded".

K11 is labelled in the instruction manual PDF but is only mentioned once when it's used for Bluetooth pairing.

I meant to ask if it can be customised in software. That part isn't clear to me from the instructions.

Have this one. Good material and feel. Stays fairly stable on the table.
However, Lot of connectivity issues with Mac, and app crashes a lot which is really frustrating and time consuming to fix every time it happens. Also, not a true macro keypad - limited number of key can be joined together and doesn't press all of them together ( presses in a sequence). More tailed towards creatives and artists to work with creator softwares.

May I know what kind of shortcut people mostly use?

I normally set some shortcut on my Logitech mouse, but can't think of any other than some simple copy paste shortcut command or Photoshop command.

      Delete (for deleting emails)
      New tab / window
      Close tab
      Copy / paste
      Next / prev tab
      Zoom in and out
      Open explorer
      Show desktop

All good ones I have on my g604 mouse. That said makes more sense imho to bind these to a mouse.

Seems like all things my left hand does on the keyboard with (ctrl-t, ctrl-w, ctrl-shift-w, ctrl-c, ctrl-v, etc)

      • Honest question: All these are single operations. How much easier can it really be having to move your hand to a separate keyboard to accomplish these things?

        • Ah. Personally I don't really spend the entire time with my left hand on my keyboard. Even if I did, several of these are a bit of a stretch ergonomically.

You are correct, these are a matter of ergonomics rather than efficiency.

    • Stratagems for helldivers, password or email strings?

      • Email strategems.

Passwords would be a very bad idea incidentally.

  • Cheers, bought one to stick on my treadmill to skip flashbacks!

I strongly suggest everyone checks out the Adafruit Macropad. I've been able to program it to do anything and everything a keyboard/mouse can do.
