Coles Trend Chrome Extension Shows 100 Day Price History

Just heard about this chrome extension that shows you the 100 day history on all items on the coles website, highest price, lowest price number of price changes and number of different prices.

Thought I would share as it seems very useful.

Here is an example of what it shows, how do you like them apples!

No idea who wrote it, but whoever you are, I owe you a beer!

  • amazing, thank you!

  • Very helpful. Thanks.

  • Looks interesting, the dev is listed as https://www.dataholdings.group/ which redirects to https://www.dataholdings.io/, which is landing page only.

So little so so on what else this plugin is doing.

Hey Jimmy, extension developer checking in, the dataholdings group website is a mess at the moment. I didn't really expect anyone to download and use the extension. I built it mostly for me.

      • Thanks heaps for creating it, such a useful plug-in that works well!
Fingers crossed that something similar is possible for woolworths :)

Hey everyone creator checking in, can confirm the extension does what's on the tin. Displays a price trend of the current Coles product you are looking at.

    • Thank you, I appreciate your effort!

Helps call out the bs Coles now on sale items and whether to buy now or hold on buying some items.

Thanks! I was really interested in what I suspected was a sales trend. The chart really helps spot them. Glad it can be helpful!

    • As a developer (that has inspected your code out of curiosity), you have my respect for this smart solution. This is pretty genius. Good luck playing whack-a-mole with Coles though, you'll have to keep on your toes if they decide to build preventions against your extension!

      • I think they will, they will do something similar to blocking Adblock extensions. To make it and enforce disabling before you can use their site. Its all over the news now

Thanks! It also works in Safari after converting with Xcode - https://developer.apple.com/documentation/safariservices/con…

    • Great work. Awesome idea, I think this’ll get a bit of traction.

You could think about a full website with accounts etc like camelcamelcamel in the future, covering the duopoly. I’ll add a $5/tub Connoiseur price watch straight away. 😀

This is fantastic. Great piece of find. Also great piece of development.

    • its the equivalent of CamelCamelCamel but for our greedy supermarkets.

They are probably now doing this cat and mouse game banning the extension to be used for viewing their site haha like how other sites banned adblock and you have to turn off to view their site.

You hear this from me lol

  • And it functions well in my non Chrome Firefox.

I know the price /specials cycles of my grocery list to save 30-40% each week, but this is great as the memory is starting to fade.

    Thanks Adam.

This extension was just featured on 9News.

There's also a separate Woolworths Trend Extension.

    • yeha I didn't know it until Channel Nine News coverage. It went faster than Ozbargain talk here

  • Does this work on a smartphone? I clicked on add to desktop on the link, just wondering if it will come up on my phone?

  • It will work if you have a browser on your phone that supports extension.
