Discounted Physical Gift Cards

I have a family member's birthday coming up and I really like to buy gifts. They don't want anything (or they don't want anything yet)…but I can't bear the idea of them not having something to open on the day*. Gift cards are a really impersonal gift…but they're something (and something they'll definitely use).

If I can get a discount, great. However I can only seem to see digital gift cards with any discounts. I feel like digital gift cards might frustrate the recipient.

I'm pretty flexible with the type of gift cards that I'd buy (ones with multiple options would be ideal though). Is anyone aware of any current discounts or offers for physical gift cards? Or a solution for a non-frustrating way to present/use e-gift cards?

For buying, I have Shopback, Cashrewards, TopCashback, Union Shopper, UniDays, MyAmex…if any of them are relevant.

Thank you!

*If anyone thinks I'm being disrespectful by buying something when they don't want anything, it's not like that. They'll use the gift cards to make life easier right now, and I'll buy what they want when they decide what they really want.

Coles Mastercard GC discounted in the form of points: but recommend to spend ASAP due to inherent risk of getting compromised

Cash. Universal gift card. Improve the presentation with a card, ribbon or tin if you want to make it a bit more personal.

Give your alcoholic family member who smokes cigarettes a Coles or Woollies gift card; of the type that can't be used to buy grog and smokes.

Appreciate it might not be accessible or rationalisable and not for everyone but I print the pdf 'receipt' type thing and provide it with various degrees of fluffer (envelope, celebratory card, handwritten scrawl etc) depending on what I feel like I can get away given the situation.

If I stop to think about it too long the whole process is a bit a ridiculous, but following ritualised cultural norms in order to pretend that this not a ridiculous lipstick proxy for cash is sort of what it means to be human.
