Wouldnt recommend these. They scratch and dent very easily. They're ABS which is the least durable of all materials used externally on suitcase. I returned mine as it was all scratched and dented even though it was new. The kmart ones would have better materials even. (Learned all about materials after regretfully purchasing this one from catch)

    • So you purchased a case already dented and scratched so you returned it?

      • Yes. Considering it still has plastic lining over it, unpeeled. It definitely wasnt a return. This is when i researched about the different materials used in suitcases, and found out that ABS suitcases will have these issues as they are the least durable. What more if i started using it. This is when i returned it and opted for a more durable material.

        • Haha cool, I thought it was a bit weird someone might buy a damaged product and then return it :)

American Tourister and Samsonite are both owned by the same parent company, but American Tourister is positioned as their more affordable line of luggage. Tbh I have two of their carry on size bags and although not as nice, they’ve held up very well compared to Samsonite. I find I’m quite disappointed in Samsonite quality given the price, they don’t really seem to last that much longer

I have 2 American Tourister Light Max Medium 69cm Hardside Suitcases. I took them to Europe for 8 weeks, including Venice and Cinca Terra and they were brilliant. The wheels are great and no damage. Picked them because their weight is 3.2kg and are expendable. 68 cm size of this case weighs 3.9 kg.

Thanks a lot for your recommendation!! The American Tourister Light Max seems to be of good value indeed for the material/size/price compared to most suitcases available on the market at the moment.
      Especially since it's
      (only) 4kg
made of Polypropylene (better than Polycarbonate) vs the Sky Bridge made of ABS plastic
capacity of 138/144L (expanded) vs the Antler Prestwick Large sold last year (122L but lifetime warranty if honoured)
it's currently $199 for the 82cm on Bagworld, Myer, David Jones, most places etc…

      • What makes you say that polypropolene is better than polycarbonate? I personally have no idea, what's the difference between them, but all the articles on the first page of google seem to claim the opposite: "Polypropylene is cheaper and more flexible but has lower impact resistance compared to polycarbonate which is stronger, more transparent, and more heat resistant."

I woild like my next luggage to last 10+ years again, so i would like it to be the best.

Good point, my bad, it seems that polycarbonate is better than polypropylene, however it is heavier. However, looking at the American Tourister Light Max, it is still 10 year warranty. Cheers.

If you're worried about weight, consider the American Tourister Airconic series which are much lighter.

Particularly important for the 55cm carry on version.

    • Wish they had the Airconic in a larger size than 77cm (101L) sigh..

Yes, wow only 2.7 kg for the 67cm. If you want the pink one Iconic has it for $167.50. But does not seem to be expandable.

      • Thanks for that! I'm looking for something 79-83cm, but thanks for pointing out that it wasn't expandable, because that's good to know. I've noticed that the Iconic says it's 3 years warranty, whilst the American Tourist Australia website and elsewhere say the warranty is 10 years!
Not a good look for the Iconic…

I bought a similar American Tourister before, the Herolite 81 cm that was only 2.5kg, but only realised after getting it that it was not padded anywhere at all. Also the wheels were only single (one per corner) instead of double, making it less stable when full and easy to tip over. It's expandable though.
