Olympics Game Medal Results on News Broadcasters

Why is it this morning, and in fact every morning, the radio and news broadcasters fail to mention the other sports medals Australia has won?

Three news radio announcements this morning failed to mention the bronze the Aussie girl Natalya Diehm and Penny Smith also Christopher Burton Silver in Equestrian, all I heard this morning was about Jess Fox and the swimming. There are other sports we are winning and only ever reporting on swimming is boring and annoying!

This is the reason I paid for Stan and its ad free and Aussie free commentary about endless swimming. To date I have yet to watch any swimming. I am sick and tired that it's always swimming swimming swimming. (Profanity) swimming! I know we are good at it but come on broadcast other results you dumb arse broadcasters!

    They have limited time and are basically 'on the bandwagon'. They report what they feel is important, not everything. Yes, its poor form.

      thank you, someone else who sees it! i get that but even just a also Bronze in BMX and Shooting. took less than 5 secs to add that and it would be good. cut out the family comments of swimming . ahhh anyways. good to see someone else sees it as i do.

      i dont "follow" but i have the radio playing at work and radio to wake me up, and the news is played at the time i wake up. when i drive i got my bluetooth streaming music so its really only 7am news and what i hear when im working on the radio so i only hear snippets of radio. i would class me as following news. as you put it.

    Because radio is trash. But also the Olympics is trash. Does it really matter if Australia wins 1 gold or 100 golds? It makes no difference to you beyond dumb patriotism of pretending their success is somehow your success.

      i dont see it as i am successful, infact i dont really watch the games for aussies, i watch it for the sports we dont usally have access to, like BMX, skateboarding, shooting table tennis, fencing, mountain bike ect. which is why i got stan sports ad free and every sport live and how and whatever you want to watch. not the crappy channel nine aussie only sports.

        You can watch the olympics live for free on the 9 now app. You can watch any of the sports you want.

        I think it's because it was quicker to just mention one or two than the entire list. Same with broadcasting

    I watched the BMX final live last night on FTA, it was good to watch (apart from returning from ads to find a run halfway through)

      yeah, thats why i got stan, its a few bucks for a month but so worth it ad free, so you can watch it from the start to the end without it going away to ads. best $20 bucks i spent! love it when camera goes to the crowd or the scenary between runs, thats what you dont see in free to air.

      i dont watch the games for medal results or for aussies playing, i watch it for the sports that doesnt get shown throughout the year like BMX or Shooting or Fencing.

        We've mostly been watching via the 9Now app, very little ads but then I do have a Pi-Hole on my network for ad blocking. As my hobby is Olympic style target archery I like to watch the archery of course. Been pretty good coverage of that, perhaps the best yet for an Olympics. I like that it's not constantly cutting away to other sports like FTA does when a Aussie swims in a heat etc etc.

    It sounds like the last few Olympics fixated on swimming. Its turned me off the Olympics that much that this time around ive hadly seen any.

      yeah, soon as i saw that STAN offered live ad free channels of sports i jumped on the deal. if it wasnt for that i would be the same, i wouldnt have watched anything. can not stand the channel nine commentators

    Maybe is far too difficult for them to fathom sports other than swimming.

    Equestrian in particular could also be hard for them to pronounce.

    Lets face it, they are somehow "limited".

    Nine has turned me off watching the Olympics on their channels. Too much ra ra over the top nationalism and swimming. Much prefer Stan coverage. Less biased. More professional commentary.
