  • a dumb question: are Salomon walk/hike shoes good for walking in city as well? i'm going to travel to Italy and France (city walking), but will also do some hike in Switzerland, do i need 2 pairs of shoes (normal sneakers [NB 990] and this) or just 1 pair of Salomon is enough? Thank you

    • depends completely on how comfy the salomons are for you during extended use

    • I like mine a lot (Speedcross) and find them good for the purposes you describe.

They are a bit aggressive-looking for sneakers, but if you don't mind the looks in, say, a restaurant then you can get by with one pair.

      I would suggest a black/black colourway.

    • Currently walking around London in a pair of Salomon XA Pros. You'll be fine.

    • A few of the Salomons are great travel shoes for mixed uses (air travel, urban walking and mountain hikes). Look for the ones that are lightweight, inconspicuous, grippy, waterproof (GTX) and with ortho insoles. The lugs wear out relatively quickly on pavement because they are designed for trails first but that's the sacrifice you have to make.

  • These or the Speedcross 6?

Will the Thundercross help my wife's Thunderthighs? Concerned that if I ask her, I'll end up Thunderstruck

Be careful, they run quite narrow.

  • What width are these?

    • Normal, D. And even then they are very narrow compared to what you are likely used to.

I find Salomon's too narrow and I don't have a particularly wide foot.
Otherwise, this is a fantastic price.
