Any insight into what is a “new” customer - any previous accounts or a current account or one that was active x months ago…

    • +1

New customer is generally classified as a port in, or a new number, according to the Optus system - regardless of their being a new account / tenure etc

      • +1

"employee danny" that helps - much appreciated. However still a little unclear - If I had an account that ended 12 months ago, how would I be classified for getting this offer. New or "existing" - as in the system would have some historical hence "existing" data on me.

a 'new customer' is someone thats not had their details put on the dark web courtesy of the optus hack?

    • +1

I tried to use a different email, but they got me with my drivers licence and postage details as an existing customer

      • KYC!

      • +1

Yes they’ll use existing data on the system, but when they “sell out” a product or for targets etc you’re classified as “new”

        • I am an optus mobile customer with a current active plan, but new to nbn. Am I considered a 'new' customer for cashback :)

  • +2

Nbn with free modem is a 3 year contract.

    • +2

And the issue is they keep increasing the price every 6 months or so within that contract period

  • +1

Basically 2 months free for 50 or 100 mbps nbn plan, or pay $89 as we have to keep connection for 60 days for cashback

    • Except you need to pay the $306 modem cost minus $8.50 for each month you stay connected?

  • I wonder if we future date connect it to, lets say 1/9, will we still eligible for cashback ?

    • When I tried signing up during the flybuys promo in March, there was no option to choose your connection date, and their customer service confirmed this.

      • +1

        Oh dear

      • I had no issue having them adjust the date to a month in the future to coincide with the end date on my superloop contract, Just called the optus number on the email recivied after signing up.
No Idea if this will effect the flybuys or the TopCashBack, still waiting to see.

  • Does Optus use CG-NAT these days? If so, can you opt out (and is there a cost associated with that)?

      Optus nbn = no.
Optus mobile = yes on Pre-Paid SIM and SIM only plans. Business SIM plans maybe different.
Optus 5G home internet = yes.

  • I live 15 min from Sydney CBD and frustratingly this isn't available in my area.

    • I had a friend who was looking at Optus 5g "NBN" internet, we came to the conclusion they won't offer it to you if you have wixed line NBN available in your area.

  • I'm interested in the $52 per month SIM only plan. Does this mean that I can get $80 cashback so $28 profit?

    • +1

remain connected for a minimum of 60 days

      • ahh… thanks! should've read properly.
