Has to be ordered online or via app. Sorry forgot to mention in title, first post :'-)

    • +6

the app never worked for me and was buggy as hell, maybe the savings from the UAT went to this chicken

      • +1

You are so right, both the web and the app are hopelessly bad. As much as I want to try their chick, I give up trying.

      • +1

I have had “generous” rewards discounts applied to my order as well as not being charged for the meal on a couple of occasions. Sure there is hassle but im happy to be passed on the savings

    • -5

Sorry forgot to mention in title

You also forgot to mention that they are not whole…

      • +1

Not really sure what's the correct defination of whole chicken, but it is what they advertised in the email

        • -2

whole : (adjective) all of; entire.

        • +4

He’s trolling ya, don’t fall for it lol

          • +5

@Gervais fanboy: As he's been doing with the same corny crap for probably 10 years at least.

        • +1

You do learn to ignore certain people who aren't quite 'whole' in the head.

  • +4

Never bought one before, are these more flavourful than the supermarket’s roasted chicken??

    • +13

Much better, Woolies and Coles roast chicken taste dry as heck to me

      • +2

And I thought i was the only one who thought that. My local Coles still sells a heck load of these.
I sometimes still buy them, very convenient to just shred them and use them for sandwiches for catering orders.

        • +4

colesworth chicken is ok if its half priced

but $12 for a desiccated parrot dirty bird? yick

          • @tonyjzx: $12 for a whole cooked chicken, soo conveniently located throughout the metro region? It works well for me and my business but yeah, I haven’t personally consumed one of these in a long time now.

      • +2

        IMO Woolies > Coles.

        Is Oporto better than Costco?

        • IMO, yes. Costco is better than Colesworth.

          • +1

@R4: Costco for me is tasteless , bigger but no flavour at all

          • @R4: LOL no way. Costco are tasteless and not much flavour.
            I prefer Coles over wooly

            • @mt2000: Fair enough. I don't particularly like any supermarket roast chickens. None are particularly nice.

        • +5

I would rank costco chicken at the very bottom. Even woolies and coles chicken taste better.

          • +1

@Knightchampion: The good thing about Costco chicken is that it's very wet.
So you have something to make gravy with while you pop the chicken back in the oven.

The bad thing about Costco chicken is that it's very wet.
So once you get home you have to pop the chicken back in the oven.

      • +1

I've always found them to have the opposite problem - they end up all wrinkly and moist from the sweaty plastic bag they put them in.

      • i disagree. Coles roast chooks been consistently moist here

        • Looking at your profile location… okay that make sense 😦

    • +3

1000 times better! get the chilli basting

      • +3

100 times would have done .

    • +3

Its not the best chicken you've ever tasted, but yes better than supermarket chickens.

    • +1

Absoslutely, so much better than the usual coles/woolies/costco. Get it with Lemon & Herb sauce and it is chef kiss

I like their chips too, shame it doesn't include it like previous deal.

    • +1

Definitely. Colesworth roast chickens are disgusting.

  • Thanks OP. So, is it Mon to Wed or Mon to Thu? Your title and description don’t match.

    • +1

      I got the same email.

      It is Mon to Wed.

    • Mon - Wed. Someone helped me to add the "Online or via APP" onto title along with this. They might have mistaken.

      • +1

At the top of the page, just under the title you can see

        view edit revisions votes

Click edit and you can update it.

        • +1

Thanks, already edited - It's the first time I posted something, not quite familiar :-P

  • Thanks. Daily meals sorted for this week
    1/2 - Dinner, 1/2 Lunch

    • +9

      Weak son

    • +3

Now I feel like a fat bastard for planning on picking up two.
1 for dinner, 1 for lunch.

Plus stopping at Grill'd on way home for the Mad Bunday deal thanks to the Eagles being absolute sh1t

  • "whole" chicken is 2 Maryland's and 2 boring bits for gym junkies.

    • Gym junkie checking in

    • How dare they not include the Chicken chuck, brisket and ribs !

      • Ribs are included.

    • How is the breast "boring" ? You also don't get the wing with Maryland, arguably one of the best parts.

  • -3

Bird flu and they can still do this deal?

    • You know the bird flu hasn’t affected every single chicken in the country…

  • +1

Do they cook them fresh? Or is it just reheated?

    • +2

They do not roast a whole chicken to order if that's what you mean.

    • +1

Where I'm from (NSW) I've seen staff cooking them fresh to order, hence there's usually a 5-10 mins wait for pickup. They're grilled not roasted. Whether the chicken is fresh or frozen, I'm not sure.

      • +2

        oh sweet summer child…

they are precooked, no way to cook raw chicken in 5-10 unless in a pressure cooker or sliced thin

They simply reheat on the grill, same as places that do ribs like hurricanes, ribs take 1.5-2h on the bbq. Hurricanes boil their ribs and have them stacked up ready to go, order comes in, baste, grill etc, done in 15

  • +3

chips were best part of the deal :/

    • +2

I've found Coles (and Woolies) chickens to be inferior to Oporto. They can taste ok when first bought but the next day they taste dry and bland.

  • +6

    Shit deal without the chips

    • Received a message with chips for $17 today

      • I just got an email for $15 whole chicken and chips but only until the 4th of September.

  • -1

Oporto chips are bland anyway. Good deal.

  • New accounts now get free chips instead of $5 off

    • thats worse

      • +1

It is! They try to sweeten the deal by offering a free Bondi burger with $5 spend in the second purchase.

  • +1

Great price. I pay $25.95 on Uber Eats normally for a whole chicken.

  • I'm confused, I can get way cheaper at local chicken shops or even Woolies or Coles?

    • +2

      Oporto is grilled.

      Supermarket's are roasted.

      Different flavours.

      • -1

        Grilled.. roasted.. whatever
$15 for a cooked chook is hardly a deal

  • +50c for additional basting/sauce via app.

  • OOS at 6pm lol

  • don't know about you guys, but I thought Oporto chicken's flavour is so bland compared to Nandos…

I bought once, and tell myself never again//

  • Still can't order even though I downloaded the app and selected pickup.

Update: must be the worst food ordering app I have ever tried - I picked the whole chiken and guess what?

    https://imgur.com/a/iewYvOP

The app lists all "nearby" stores but you have to click and check each of them to see if they provide this product and for me the top ones are saying

The store currenly does not provide a menu, please select a different store.

I mean, why bother listing them if they don't have a menu for consumers to order online? Fail to understand the design logic here - I specifically chose the pickup option, so only show me stores allowing pickups? What are these Menulog/Doordash/Ubereats options over there?

You reckon this is the worst part? No, because once you enter a store which doesn't sell this whole chicken, you can feel the serious stuttering in the app.

0/5 shopping experience and uninstalled immediately. Not worth my sanity trying further with the horrible user expeience.

  • wheres the $15 deal located?

my app shows whole chicken $19.75

    • nvm found it on homepage online exlcusive but "product not available" ? wtf

  • +1

Looks like it includes chips again

    https://www.oporto.com.au/15-whole-chicken-chips

    • Thanks! Got one

    • Yeah but they are out of stock in Castle Hill. Doesn't mention the chips, can't find the 15 with chips

      • I tried to order at that store two weeks ago, and they were not available.

  • DID THEY REPLACE ORIGINAL DAEAL WITH $17 WHOLE CHICKEN +CHIPS ?

    • +1

      Nope $15 ends 2moro
