ING/Virgin Bonus Interest - Qualifying Whilst Overseas

I'm going OS, is there a way to do the qualifying EFTPOS transactions

The suggestions for if you are OS are a bit vague, for me anyway.

If someone could elaborate on the Beem method and how adding the card counts that would be helpful.

I don't particularly want to use the card for OS transactions as I have local accounts in the countries I'm going.

TIA

Here is a suggestion. Use the OzBargain search function and search for ‘ING 5 Transactions’ and read the multiple posts on the same topic.

Lots suggests to do 5 small buying Amazon gift card purchases in Amazon.

    • Not this, it has to be per month and doesn't carry over.

  • Depends on how much you have in the ING.

When I was overseas, I just gave my card to a close friend and told him to help himself to 5 coffees, he was happy and I got my interest requirement fulfilled.

I just made 5 small transactions overseas. Bear in mind that should you need to withdraw cash overseas do this first because you only have 5 free withdrawals and a tap and go transaction counts as one. Also, if you have the option, insert your card rather than tap as it hits your account much quicker.

Simple and easy, just use internet banking, transfer $1000 to the account and if you have Amazon account, just buy $1 gift card ,5 times separately, done !

You do something like pay your water/gas/phone/whatever bill online with the card number/details. It doesn't need to be a transaction with the physical/digital card. EG I pay 5*$1 to my water provider each month, takes me two minutes over breakfast. Same with Virgin.

This sounds even easier… I'll do this even when back home… Less hassle than split payments at woollies. I'm not sure why I got it in my head It had to be tap and go transactions. Thank you

  • I was overseas from April 25 to May 30 this year. I got my bonus interest for May and for June. I used my ING card for many transactions while OS.

  • Virgin Money still regards BPay as eligible transaction.

  • I lived oversras for years and would just tap and go for small transactions at the start of every month and never had a problem.
