no point if it won't fit my case

    • Hahaha Yus!!!

  • Recommendation of ALR screens?

    • I'm keen to know, too. I picked this up during Prime, with the carry case for $99.

      • Hows it? Reviews are not good

        • Reviews are not good

The projector or the carry case?

          • @eggaz: How's the projector? I'm also interested to know

            • @Saltywarden: I am also keen to know projector, I picked up ViewSonic PX701-4k, out of box colors aren't the best. i calibrated it and looks decent enough. but i am considering if i should return it.

              • +1

@V003: If your doubting about it at the moment probably an indication you're going to be happier returning it.

                • @Saltywarden: btw i bought it from Viewsonic store on amazon, how does 3rd party return work? I know that amazon itself is pretty easy with return but can i use simple "change of mind" on opened product?.

                  • @V003: Check the listing. I've never had an issue wit lh returns through Amazon.

            • @Saltywarden: The projector arrives tomorrow, so can't give any opinion on my experience. The reviews I have watched are really positive.

          • @eggaz: Ohh sorry, the projector

who buys these things ? $1500 for portable project ? wow …

    • +2

You’ve clearly never been to a swingers party

    • You realise it's a quality 4k laser projector, not cheap garbage.

      • -3

I do, but that doesnt answer what i asked.

People with money and the need to brag to friends. (sometimes just people with the need to brag to friends)

        • I'm out of answers… keep wondering.

@eggaz: Well my second tv died. So I was looking for a replacement. Having used my Cosmos since buying from the last Amazon deal, I no longer want to switch on my LG OLED C1 as it's almost as good quality and so much bigger. A steal at $1500 compared to similar size or priced tv. Caveats to be great include; stream 4k though with decent Gb NBN, don't watch really dark shows during the day, I've had no problems with stuff like The Marvels, but would save The Walking Dead to night time, use nebula app not remote

  • Have a nebula for the bedroom to project onto the ceiling, is awesome. This would be an amazing upgrade, but can't justify the price.

    • Where do you put it to project onto the ceiling? like on the mattress next to you? or do you have it pointing at the roof at an angle with keystone correction? I haven't got much experience with projectors just a cheap $99 one tried to project onto the roof and it wasn't great. also how big a screen you getting on your roof?

      • I use something like this to hold it onto the bed frame next to my head https://www.amazon.com.au/NEEWER-Extendable-Camera-Adjustabl…

You basically have to set it up each time, because you need the projector to be as close to the mattress as possible for the image to be as large as possible. Otherwise it would get in the way when you're actually sleeping.

Couldn't say how big it is, probably a metre and a half wide. The picture is pretty decent. Not perfect, but not bad.

  • I purchased this Nebula Cosmos 4K laser projector during Prime day sale but I'm going to return mine, not really satisfied.. For me daytime picture quality is not good as its very washed away, picture quality is good only at night time or total dark room but it still cannot beat picture quality of bright TV (I projected it on white wall, you may get better quality if you have good quality projector screen but those are as expensive as projector).. I mainly watch on stremio but this projector struggles with larger files (even 15-20gb files), never had this issue on my TCL 75" tv which is connected to ethernet (there is no ethernet port on Nebula but there is 1 hdmi port to connect it to ext. source).. This one does not support Dolby Vision.. On mine focus is not sharp thoughout the screen (middle part of projected screen is in less focus compared to both sides) and auto/manual focus does not fix it, also cannot setup remote buttons either due to remote or projector issue.. so I decided to return.. I'll most likely will go for larger TV in future..

    • Still happy with mine. I save dark shows like the walking dead for nighttime, bright and crisp streaming 4k disney etc during the day on white wall or curtain. 1080p you notice spottiness on big display and I'd be not happy streaming 1080p as the norm, but 4k is awesome for me and no brightness issues at sides of the display. Wireless internet from 1000Mpbs (about 600Mbps in reality) NBN is seamless and mesh network means same for running it outside in backyard. Bluetooth earbuds almost seamless audio. Use phone app to manage it, not the remote. Unfortunately Stan not offering 4k ultra olympics for Anker device but the Anker upscales most of the olympic channels to much better than 1080p so becomes a damn good picture

      • Good to know you happy with yours. I have 250 Mbps NBN connection, projector is not that far from router, still it struggles with larger files on stremio ie picture is not smooth after watching some time say 15-20 min..

        • Hmm yeh im not experiencing any lag. Disney premium, stan premium, prime, netflix standard, binge standard. Have you got a decent fast wifi router, I have netgear orbi mesh

          • @exulted: Do you use Stremio? if yes, can you please try 30+gb files and see if they run smoothly after say 20 min of running.. I have setup 2 Telstra smart 2 gen routers, its kind of old but still good.. I get 200mbps wifi speed on my 250mbps connection.. I still need to return this Nebula projector due to its focus issue and remote issues (remote button setup does not finish and gets stuck with loading symbol, keeps happening even after multiple factory reset attempt, remote microphone also does not work even after giving needed permission to apps).. Amazon said they can't sent me replacement as its 3rd party item so I'll have to return and re-order if I decide to stay with Nebula..

            • @Trek: Sorry can't help you there, I don't use stremio nor do I have offline files stored for streaming anymore

  • daytime picture quality is not good….on white wall

:-) Because the blackest part of image will be same shade as your daytime white wall.

White walls are okay at night with a laser projector, even with living room lamps on (provided they are not too close). But in the day you will need a screen.

this projector struggles with larger files (even 15-20gb files)

I don't understand. Aren't you using HDMI input? Meaning the projector is not processing any video, only projecting whatever you're giving it over HDMI?

    • Yes, I understand what you saying 'part of image will be same shade as your daytime white wall', hence I'm saying 'daytime picture quality is not good' (at least for me) as my wall will never be black (as TV screen) to get good black levels like TV, daytime picture looks washed out to me not just bcoz of wall colour but also bcoz of reflected light from projected screen into rest of the room..

No, I'm not using HDMI input as it is not needed as this projector has Android TV OS, you can install any of your streaming app and stream it directly from projector without need of using HDMI input source.. In my case larger files on stremio struggles (judder issue).. Yes I can try HDMI input but it will be mean extra device attached to projector with more cables running etc. Projector fan noise is also issue for me, projector audio quality is very good and you cannot hear much fan noise during streaming but you can still hear it and I prefer my 5.1 home theatre when watching movies which means projector fan noise is more noticeable when I'm not using projector audio..

I must say watching movies on large screen (in my case I was able to get 140" projected screen on wall) looks good at night with this projector but I think I'll still prefer good 100" tv over it (which may last much longer than projector)..

      • Okay fair enough.

  • I had a little play with it earlier today on white wall, and I love it. Now I need a 100 inch screen for my tiny apartment.
    I have LG C9 and G2 in 55inch.

I just found out they got a new one coming out and this might explain price drop for this

    • Glad to hear you really like it. From what I understand the Cosmos 4K Laser is superior to the Cosmos Air and SE. Price drop may have been to keep.competitive and sell more units, they are quite high at the stated RRP.
